8 Tasting Notes

This is a wonderful light and refreshing alternative to the classic Earl Grey. The dry leaves are strongly aromatic of bergamot with a hint of orange zest. Once steeped the bergamont is dominant with just a fleeting taste of orange. Be careful not to steep too long or hot or it can be bitter/astringent.

Flavors: Bergamot, Orange Zest

Very surprised by the quality of this teabag, a great caffeine free alternative to a Chai tea. The tea had a bold character full of cinnamon but the offnotes of Ginger, cloves and nutmeg seem to fall short and have no stamina. The warm spiced tea has no bitter or astringent taste even when steeped for an excessive amount of time. It is naturally sweet and doesn’t need any sugar.

I prepared this tea using a one step Western infusion process. I steeped 1.25 teaspoon ( or one DAVIDsTEA perfect spoonful) of loose tea leaves in a cup of 205 F water for 6 minutes. (DAVIDsTEA recommends a steep time ranging from 4-7 minutes for this particular tea),

Before the infustion the dry tea gives off a wonderful roasted nutty aroma. It has an sweet earthy off note and reminds me of a pile of autumn leaves. After the infusion the liquor of the tea was a surprising bright pink color. The herbal tea gives a light smooth taste in my mouth with notes of apple, cinnamon, and hint of nuts. . Tastes like a fresh baked cinnamon apple muffin .

This is a very sweet Apple tasting tea with a little dimension from the blackberry leaves. From the name I was expecting a spiced apple cider with maybe some cinnamon notes but as the ingredients suggest there is nothing. It is still a nice herbal tea, but tastes more like a sweet summer tea then the advertised winter classic. The liquor is pleasant light golden color. The dry leaves are very aromatic body and would suggest a more complex, layered flavor. The vanilla and cream off-tastes were not tasted after steeping.

Flavors: Apple, Apple Candy

Tastes like a berry punch with a bit of earthiness. The tart hibiscus flavors lingers on your tongue. The hibiscus and berry flavoring overpower the guayusa, making this appear more like a herbal tea especially with its rich cranberry colored liquor. Great for those who like a kick as it tastes like a herbal tea but with the stimulant of a cup of coffee.
Would recommend trying this tea iced.

I love this tea! Now this is not your original Chai. If you are looking for a plain, traditional chai tea maybe try something else. This is my favorite tea for my “grab and go”, perfect for letting it steep in the thermos on my way to work. The longer this steeps the better it tastes and the bolder the flavor. I find when I do steep it according to the recommended directions for only 4 minutes it doesn’t quite bring out the wonderful spices infused in it. This tea is full of body and when steeped longer the flavor is bold and has full character of the cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. This tea naturally has a bit of sweetness to it and a hint of vanilla.

The smell of the dry leaves is enticing very aromatic
The liquor is a red tinged brown. The aroma is not as strong as the dry leaves but still aromatic.
