drank Caramel Corn by DAVIDsTEA
818 tasting notes

I’ve been trying to be good and focus on my current stash and not buy more tea. I was doing really well for awhile, which explains my lack of recent tasting notes…I just don’t feel like writing more about a tea I’ve already posted about unless I discovered something new and exciting about it.

So today I needed a break after 6 hours of continuous meetings/work. I decided to take a walk to DavidsTea of course! Tea shops always brighten my mood and put an extra pep in my step! I hadn’t tried any of the carnival teas because, honestly, they didn’t sound like the teas I usually go for. David’s has really gone herbal this summer. So, I went and smelled the new teas, and decided to get some of this one and some of the cotton candy tea. I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the new guy at this store. I said I wanted 1 oz. and he poured 1.8 oz. and said, “Is that okay?” I adamantly told him “No,” and he fixed it. What is this, Teavana? I don’t think so!

So, this tea smells like heaven! Caramel, toffee heaven! Like I said, I usually don’t go for these herbals without any actual leaf in them. This one is all fruit pieces and some caramel, coconut and cinnamon. I was a bit worried about the cinnamon because there are humongous pieces of cinnamon stick in there! Turns out it wasn’t a problem. Steeped, the aroma reminds me of those amazingly delicious caramel pecan sticky buns! Yum! Or maybe that mixed with an apple fritter! The caramel definitely comes through in a silky sweetness. I didn’t add anything to this tea and I’m loving it! And by the way, I can’t believe I am! It really is a perfect after dinner treat. The guilt-free alternative to a delicious sticky bun, although, I may have to go search one of those out! Ha!

Another profile facelift! My tastes have changed a lot from when I first discovered loose leaf tea.

I can trace my tea journey back to October 2012, when I discovered DavidsTea. Before that, I had the occasional cup and enjoyed high tea at An Afternoon to Remember, which has since closed.

I went through a period of wanting to try all the teas, and was really into flavored teas, especially dessert blacks, but my tastes have substantially changed over time.

I still enjoy the occasional flavored black or rooibos, but I’m more into unflavored black teas right now and recently, puerh. Chinese black teas are amazing…with their notes of chocolate or sweet potato, who needs a flavored tea? I had a much steeper learning curve when it came to puerh. I used to dump out cups of puerh for tasting like leather. Now, I am really enjoying them. I think it took finding good quality puerh and steeping them gong fu style to really enjoy them.

I also, on occasion, enjoy a good oolong, white, or green tea.

Favorite tea companies right now include: Mandala, Teavivre, Butiki, Golden Moon, Lupicia, and DavidsTea (for teaware mostly).

Just a note: I don’t rate my teas numerically because my iPad doesn’t like the scroll bar. Maybe someday that will change…hint hint, steepster! ;)

P.S. My profile picture is of one of my 2 cats, Holly, who is a little princess but very photogenic, and she loves boxes, including those that bring me tea! :)
