818 Tasting Notes
Sipdown! I’ve kinda been hoarding the rest of this, since I loved it so much when I discovered it. My cupboard needs some sipdowns though, so I finished it off. Still a delicious chai. Definitely unique, and kind of a “dark” chai, if you know what I mean. Glad to have enjoyed it. :)
Decided I haven’t had this in awhile, so I made a big cup. I think it’s getting old…probably bought this tin a year ago, and I think the nuts are going stale. That’ll teach me to not use up tea faster! It’s still a great nutty tea, but for some reason, there was sediment at the bottom of my cup, which I got a nasty mouthful of at the end. :P Now I wish I had a fresher batch, but alas, too much tea to justify purchasing more!
I also picked up a half ounce of this tea. I heard so many mixed reviews that I was afraid to try it, but try it I did, and it’s pretty darn good! I like it way more than Della Terra’s version, (sorry!) It just tastes more caramel-like to me. As a fan of dessert black teas, I will definitely keep this in mind for a future purchase. :)
So, I was running out of paper tea bag filters to use at work, which gave me an excuse to go to DavidsTea on my lunch and see the new mugs, and check out the tea of the month! ;) The new mugs are cute, but there weren’t any that I was totally in love with, so I’m going to wait to see what they come out with next. They had samples of this tea made up, so I tried it. Very mellow, but I could definitely taste cinnamon. It was a nice cinnamon flavor though, so I picked up an ounce. :) Made this at work yesterday afternoon and it was really good. It’s like a lightweight chai, good for the afternoon and evening. The cinnamon is prominent, but there’s a freshness from the lemongrass and pineapple. It’s definitely mellow, and that’s why I found it kind of relaxing. I will definitely enjoy drinking more of this unique tea! Good job, DavidsTea!
I’m slowly sipping a cup of this tea, trying to delay my Sunday chores. ;) It’s quite peppery today, but I think that’s what makes it so unique.
I always have too much to do on Sunday – run, groceries, laundry…and I’m trying to decide whether to hook up our TV so I can watch Downton Abbey tonight. I was so upset about last season, so I don’t know. :P
I really really enjoyed this, and just so you know, I have a hard time with herbal teas, since I clearly miss the tea part. This was absolutely delicious! It’s chocolate-y, with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. Kind of reminds me of a cleaner non-tea version of stormy night by DavidsTea (i.e. no floating sediment)! It also was like a liquid version of brownies or cake…not pure chocolate, but more complex. Yum! Now I’m just sad I only ordered a sample size of it! It was one of those cups where you finish it way too fast, and keep sniffing the empty cup in order to remind yourself of the delicious taste…or maybe I’m the only one who does that!! Haha!
So, my mom gave me a few teabags of this when I was over last. Originally, we were thinking to split a tin, since there are like 50 bags in there, but then it took awhile to find it this year, and by then I had bought way too many other pumpkin teas. ;) I had a cup of this using one teabag and it was kind of thin, and then I remembered someone suggesting two teabags, so I went for it. Two teabags in a 16 oz. mug for 3 minutes, with some brown sugar and soy milk = delicious!! Good way to use up the teabags faster too!
Mmmm, this is really good. I’ve been pretty impressed with Herbal Infusions’ teas, and this one doesn’t disappoint either! I’m not usually into coffee flavored teas, since it’s a bit of a weird crossover, and they usually taste like thin instant coffee. Not the case here! All the flavors in this tea are delicious and blend nicely. It’s kind of a hazelnut, caramel coffee tea. Sweet, nutty, and delicious! Now I’m sad I only ordered a sample size. This could likely be a reorder!
