Okay, so I tried this again without milk, as recommended by Tina S. and I am still not a fan. I tried! I love the smell, but the taste does not provide enough depth for me. I added a little honey and that didn’t do much either. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Probably shouldn’t have ignored my rule about not drinking black tea after noon! I’m a little nuts now! Oh well!

This tea helped me get through what I thought was going to be a frustrating phone call at work. It’s the perfect blend to relax me!

Didn’t get a chance to write anything yesterday, so I’m catching up now. Had this for my morning tea yesterday. I love it so much! Wish my mug at work was bigger, and that it wouldn’t cool off so fast. Really need to stop by DavidsTea and pick more up, but that’ll have to wait until next week because this week I have a Lupicia shopping trip planned! It’s so nice to have both of these shops within walking distance from work!

This tea is like candy. Tropical candy. No sugar required! I’m not sure it’s my favorite, but here I am drinking it again! Kinda fun for the afternoon. Would probably be amazing iced!

I wasn’t sure about this one at first. It has a really strong potpourri-like smell, but I really like it. It has almost a fermented berry taste at the front end of the sip, and a lavender floral taste at the back end of the sip. Very complex, but strangely relaxing. It must be the lavender. Anyway, definitely a keeper. Will be buying more of this!

drank Cookie by Lupicia

Just had another cup of this. It definitely tastes like a buttery caramel cookie. It’s best brewed strong with milk and sugar…a definite dessert tea. Think I might get some more…I’m almost out. Sharing tea with friends is causing me to run out sooner than I thought, but the upside is I have room for new tea!

Just made a big pot of this and shared with friends, who came over for our own high tea. They loved it. One actually asked for a second cup. Perfect with the Jamaican banana scones and tea sandwiches I made!

My husband got me this tea for Christmas. He was right on for picking a good flavor for me. It’s a really nice cinnamon tea, with a touch of butter, but on the weak side as far as flavor goes. Good with breakfast. I guess it’s limited, so once it’s gone, that’s it, but there are 50 tea bags, so I’m sure I’ll have it for awhile.

drank Pure Vanilla by DAVIDsTEA

So I’m trying this one out again. First time I couldn’t pick up any vanilla. It just tasted like rooibos. This time, I think because I was really looking for it, I can smell the vanilla and taste it a bit too. Not that exciting, really, but if you want simple, this is it.

So based on a list provided by someone on steepster, I think this may be discontinued, but I’m hoping maybe they’ll come up with a s’mores tea to replace it. It really is a nice sweet toasty tea, but it does feel like it’s missing something….perhaps graham crackers and chocolate? ;) First time I opened the bag, it didn’t smell anything like what I pictured, but it kinda grew on me. Hoping for a great replacement. Hint hint to DavidsTea!

Profile

Bio

Another profile facelift! My tastes have changed a lot from when I first discovered loose leaf tea.

I can trace my tea journey back to October 2012, when I discovered DavidsTea. Before that, I had the occasional cup and enjoyed high tea at An Afternoon to Remember, which has since closed.

I went through a period of wanting to try all the teas, and was really into flavored teas, especially dessert blacks, but my tastes have substantially changed over time.

I still enjoy the occasional flavored black or rooibos, but I’m more into unflavored black teas right now and recently, puerh. Chinese black teas are amazing…with their notes of chocolate or sweet potato, who needs a flavored tea? I had a much steeper learning curve when it came to puerh. I used to dump out cups of puerh for tasting like leather. Now, I am really enjoying them. I think it took finding good quality puerh and steeping them gong fu style to really enjoy them.

I also, on occasion, enjoy a good oolong, white, or green tea.

Favorite tea companies right now include: Mandala, Teavivre, Butiki, Golden Moon, Lupicia, and DavidsTea (for teaware mostly).

Just a note: I don’t rate my teas numerically because my iPad doesn’t like the scroll bar. Maybe someday that will change…hint hint, steepster! ;)

P.S. My profile picture is of one of my 2 cats, Holly, who is a little princess but very photogenic, and she loves boxes, including those that bring me tea! :)
