I had a cup of this last night before bed. It was a great calming cup. I like that it is light, the jasmine isn’t over powering and that there is the slight hint of peach. It is very well blended. On a night like last night it was the perfect cup. This is one of teavivre’s teas that I wish was sold in a smaller package. It is a mood tea for me so 100g seems like way to large of an amount to buy and keep in my cupboard. Maybe when I go to place an order I can find someone to split this with.

This sample came with my recent Butiki order. Thank you Stacy!

Rose flavored teas scares me. I have had the opportunity to try a few and they are really hit or miss. This one was a HUGE hit. I am blown away by this tea. Smooth, creamy, sweet, with a nice balance of rose. This is such a calming tea. I think this will have to be added to my next order. Thank you Stacy for the opportunity to try this one.

This is a tea from a swap a while back….. I had it out to send to a tea friend, but I think she might not be my tea friend anymore if I sent this to her. I will start off by saying that I am one of the few who actually really enjoy Rooibos. This however. I took one sip and YUCK! Spicy, pepper, grossness is all I got out of it. I walked over to the trash can and tossed this puppy. I know tea blasphemy , but it is still giving me the shivers.

Sounds NASTY.

drank L'Abricot by Fauchon

This cup is thanks to MissB.

I am packaging up some tea to pass along and this is a tea that was requested. There were only about 2-3 tsp of this one so I took a small tsp and brewed up a cup to give it a quick try. This one is okay. It is one is okay. I definitely oversteeped it this time around. The beginning of the sip is fruity, but the end for me is very bitter. If I had it to do again I think I would cold brew this one. It seems like it would bring out the fruit taste.

drank Yi Fu Chun Black Tea by Yezi Tea
694 tasting notes

This is a sample I received with my Yezi order. Thank you!

I am kicking myself for not using this sample to brew this tea GongFu. Oh well I guess that means I might just have to order an ounce of it down the road. I am drinking this as my morning cup this morning. The last cup I had was a tad weak so I made sure to let this puppy brew for a decent amount of time this morning.

This cup is malty, sweet, with a finish of fruit. I am really digging this up this morning. I read in a few tasting notes about molasses. I am definitely picking up on that. I think I have one more Yezi black tea to try, Ming Hong Black Black Tea. I will have to add this to my wishlist so I remember to pick up a sample next time.

This is another sample from Angel at Teavivre. Thank you!

After flying through my cups of silver needle white tonight I thought I would enjoy one more. I reached into my teavivre sample pouch and just picked one. This is the one I pulled out. I tried the Lotus Leaf Raw Pu-erh. I enjoyed that one, but this one seems much smoother/sweeter. I get the tangy fruitiness and sweetness like the previous raw pu-erh. I might have to spend some more time with this tea before I can say too much more. I have enjoyed it so far and look forward to getting to know it better.

Again I am going to leave this unrated for now as I am not too familiar with raw pu-erh.

Thanks to Angel at Teavivre for this sample!

I had a few really nice white teas when I first started drinking tea. I then ordered 2oz of silver needle from a tea shop and it was awful. It turned me off to straight white tea until this sample arrived at my doorstep!

This tea has renewed my faith in white tea!!!! Oh man this stuff is good. This is one of those tea experiences that makes you want to go out and buy tons of it so you never run out. This is very sweet with hints of floral. There is almost a fruityness to this as well. It is so calming and relaxing. I don’t want this session to end. I will note that I am experimenting with this tea and with brewing white tea gonfu style. I am glad there is enough to prefect the brewing method. Thank you for allowing me to try this wonderful tea!

I received this tea from EvaGrim in a swap. Thank you!

As far as Genmaicha goes I have only ever had the chocolate version from Verdant. I haven’t experimented too much with this type of tea so I am going to leave this one unrated. This looked really pretty in the steeper. The toasted rice, hunks of strawberry, and green tea all mixed together. When I held my nose up to the cup I got the sweet smell of strawberry, and my first sip there were hints of strawberry, but the strawberry quickly faded from the taste. The cup slowly changed to a toasty plasticy taste. I am not sure if this was the rice mixed with the green tea. It was nice, but not something I would crave. I am unsure about this one. I think I would like to try some “normal” Genmaicha" to get a feel for what I should be tasting.

This is another sample from TeaSipper, Thank you!

This is a tasty assam! It is malty, slightly fruity and on the bright side of the flavor spectrum. It isn’t as strong as the assam I had from Butiki yesterday. It is a bit more of a lighter cup and the fruit notes shine a bit more than the malt. It is a more mellow assam, which for me is a good thing. I could easily see myself purchasing this one.

Edit: As this cooled it was still so smooth and almost creamy. I really want to try my last tsp with milk and sugar. I don’t usually add stuff to tea, but I think this tea would be really tasty with some additions because it is really good on its own.

I received this sample in the 3rd Anniversary packet that I picked up from Teavivre.

This is a dark oolong that brews up a light brown to yellowish color. This is a really yummy cup. This is very fruity with strong hints of honey and some slight woody undertones. I am surprised at how much fruit flavor shines through on this cup. I think I saw someone mention a juicy peach in their tasting note and that is exactly what I am getting. I am going to try and resteep this one a few times and add quite a bit of steep time as my first cup was pretty light. I am not sure I could see myself ordering a full 100g of this tea, but I would definitely pick up another sample or two when I place an order.

Bio

I started drinking tea while on a 4 month long cycling trip through South America. It seemed to always be a great way to warm up when I was cold and it was always available everywhere. Mate was the big tea of choice down there and it was also a great way to get to know people. When I returned home, my sister introduced me to Teavana and this launched me into the realm of loose leaf tea.
