2913 Tasting Notes

Although I love fresh & dried berries, I’m not as fond of them in tea. Also, somehow the rooibos in this one is just way too present for me.
Thank you to Sil for the sample. Sipdown.

As my tea drinking day starts drawing to a close, I thought a cup of this tasty gyokuro that I kept from the HHTTB would be nice. Sweet & vegetal, it’s almost like a thin spring greens soup.

Sweet honey notes, toastiness, that coriander essence, & fruitiness. This is my after dinner tea.

Dear Sil, would you believe I’m running out of teas? LOL, don’t worry, I have a few left, and the night is young, but it has occurred to me that several of the sipdown candidates I brought to Tony’s are puerh samples, which require multiple steepings.

Nonetheless, I will carry on…waterlogged tea-drunk…

Sil

haha i think i need to toss my hat in at this point lol. Nearly all the teas i have that i could sipdown are black teas, which, while caffeine doesn’t generally affect me…tonight would likely prove to be the exception. lol So i’m stopping here…at 218 unless some crazy insane part of me changes my mind before bed.

Terri HarpLady

I’ll drink a few more, but I don’t want to be up all night peeing, so we’ll see how far I get.

Sil

luckily i have super crazy awesome bladder…so as long as i go to the washroom before i sleep…i’m good until morning, but maaaan morning is a good time lol

Terri HarpLady

That’s because you haven’t had any kids ;)

Sil

LMAO yeah probably lol

Terri HarpLady

kids change everything!

I kept this from the Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box, originally as a present for Tony, because he really enjoys Plum Oolong. It sat on his table for a couple of weeks, waiting…

So I’m drank it with dinner. His teas are my teas, so there!
Sipdown!

Sil

i liked this one a bunch

Terri HarpLady

It was tasty!

I’ve been overlapping my teas, in an effort to catch up to my steep sister Sil, & I brewed this one & the Plum Oolong at the same time. I added a little stevia to the Oolong, because it benefits from a little sweet, & drank it with my dinner (BBQ! Tony was having sweet tea, I had Plum Oolong).

As I was drinking that tea, I realized it wasn’t sweet at all. When I started drinking this one, I realized it was, LOL. Oops!
Oh well, the sweetness was actually nice, bringing out the fruitiness of this one. Although it’s not amazing, it’s ok for a bagged Shu.

Here’s another tea sample from Sil. This is another Beijing Wuyutai foil package, this one is cream colored. As soon as I opened it, my sinuses were assailed with the sweet aroma of Jasmine. Yup, a potent jasmine tea, this one is. Maybe too potent for me.

This one brings my count down to 227, Sil. I’m not sure how many more teas I can handle today, but we’ll see.

Sil

haha it was too potent for me…but you never know!

Terri HarpLady

So, what’s your count exactly?

Sil

uh 221 once i finish drinking the two cups i’m on at the moment lol

Terri HarpLady

LOL, ughghghg

Another one from Sil, I couldn’t find the company, & I’m too lazy to enter it, lol.
This is a chamomile tea from La Indiana infusiones. I needed a break from all the caffeine, haha. It’s nicely sweet & appley, like chamomiles are suppose to be. Thanks Sil!
Tony & I are watching ‘7 Psychopaths’ & contemplating BBQ for dinner.

Sil

oh haha this was tea from cuba! lol

Terri HarpLady

That’s what I thought!

Here’s another one from Sil, & this one is a real winner!!
This is a gold foil sample from Beijing Wuyutai.
OMG, this is awesome. Without a doubt, I’m pretty sure this one is a Jin Jun Mei, & it is SO delicious. I want MOAR!
Thanks Sil, you are an awesome tea sister!

Sil

gold foil..i didn’t thinki bought a wuyu gold foil… was it a mini tucho thingy? or a packet that was skinny and then fat at the end?

Sil

pssssssssst what’s your count! sheeeesh! i need to know if i have to buckle down for a night of non stop fun in the bathroom peeing! :)

Terri HarpLady

LOL, it’s one of those foil samples, this one is gold colored.
I don’t know what my count is, I guess I’d better count. I’ll post it with my next cup of tea :)

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I wanna know the count! I’ve been anxiously awaiting a winner all weekend! :-)

The last of my sample from Garret. I’ve been sipping gongfu steepings of this in between other teas, & it is delicious! Thanks so much Garret. I’ll probably have to include some of this in my next Mandala order!

Garret

The pleasure is all mine, dear friend!!! Glad you enjoy this. We have a customer out in Connecticut who drinks this exclusively. He and his wife buy 4 cakes of it per month. But the stash is running down fast (for the cake anyway – still plenty of the loose blend left).

Another one from Sil.
This is a very mild oolong with a buttery taste & creamy texture.
I wasn’t planning on liking it, but it’s actually quite tasty.
Thanks Sil!

Sil

haha this is one of the few milky oolong teas i like.

Bio

I’m so excited to have found this community! I’m a self-employed Harpist (acoustic & electric – Originals, Classical, Rock, Jazz, etc) & Singer/Songwriter. My days & nights revolve around teaching at home, playing gigs, gardening,& fixing awesome food to eat. My schedule is different everyday, but I just go with the flow, & I sip a lot of tea!

My love of Tea began with Herbals back in the 70’s. One of my favorites was a licorice blend from House of Hezekiah, an old tea shop in Kansas City. There was also a tea with mint, rose petals, chamomile, etc called Nuclear Casual Tea.
In the 80’s I gave up caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, (& a few illicit substances…), and brewed medicinal blends & tinctures to support 4 pregnancies (all children born at home). In the 90’s my love affair with green teas began when I discovered ‘The Republic of Tea’. Their beautiful teas & packaging inspired my original song, “TeaMind”, from my CD “Zen Breakfast”. If you’d like to hear the song for free, drop by my website.

In general, I drink my teas straight, but occasionally I add a pinch of Stevia & maybe some coconut or almond milk (I’m allergic to dairy, gluten, & various other things & avoid most sweets.)

I’ve explored a variety of teas:
Whites tend to be a little bland…sorry
Oolongs – wonderfully sensual
Roobios – I’m not a fan in general
Puehr – a fairly new direction for me
I’m not a huge fan of flavored teas, but I do make exceptions, & I’ll try just about anything once.

And Black Tea, Oh how I love thee!!
I am on a quest for the most wonderful breakfast cup! I will find you, my Love!
