3046 Tasting Notes

Enjoying a cup of this before I crawl into the tub.
It is delicious & soothing.
Sorry, that’s all I have to say.

This one is gorgeous. :)

I had to leave the house for a couple of hours, which ended up being more time consuming than I intended, & other than teaching a lesson, I didn’t accomplish anything: didn’t make it to the PO (for those to whom I promised I would, you know who you are), didn’t make it to the bank (luckily I get auto-deposit from both University jobs, so money made it there without me), didn’t stop by the store, etc.
This delicious tea accompanied me on the first leg of my journey. The student whose home I went to offered tea, with a limited cupboard (I’ve become such a snob, geez!), but I did manage to settle for Celestial Seasoning’s Tension Tamer. I use to love it, now it’s just so-so…
Now I’m home. I guess all of those errands will have to wait until monday, because I want a bubble bath, & I need to write about 1400 more words before I go to Tony’s.

drank Phoenix Pearl by Zen Tea
3046 tasting notes

My first sipdown of the month, leaving me at 217 teas in my collection.
This one was from Cavorcorax. The name of the tea brings to mind those pearl teas that so many of us love, but this is really more of a black bilochun “spring snail” style. I made a 16 oz pot of it, followed by a resteep. Excellent with breakfast, & now I feel a little more energy.

I really need to get moving! I’ve been slacking all morning, which Ms Theresa is grumbling about in my head. So much to do, & yet I have basically done nothing, save feeding myself, drinking tea, & goofing off on FB, Steepster, the NNWM site, & a few other places. Time to get a move on!

man you’re getting close to 200! that’s exciting :)

Terri HarpLady

Yeah! I’d like to get down to 200 by the end of next week, at least, but of course, I don’t really have that many teas that are at sipdown level…sigh…

i’m kinda tempted to see if i can get to 150 by the end of the weekend…. heh….

Go for it! :)

First tea of the day, first tea of the month.
I think my tastebuds are a little off this morning, as I know I’ve enjoyed this tea before, but not really getting much today. It doesn’t taste bad, just not as nuanced as before.
Blame it on the Revelry of Pirates last night, see my facebook for photos https://www.facebook.com/terri.langerak
I ate some amazing (but too sweet) dark chocolate from a local chocolatier last night, as my treat, & within 15 minutes had terrible muscle cramps/kinks in my neck & shoulders on the left side. It’s the sugar, of course, does it to me every time, but like a mother who forgets just how intense childbirth is, I tend to downplay the consequences of poor choices in my mind, only to remember them when the suffering begins.
I’m better now, though somewhat groggy & unproductive.
More tea…breakfast…more tea…

i’m off sugar and on xylitol now….. i think of you lots! feel better!

Terri HarpLady

Thanks James!! I almost never eat anything sweet, & but once in awhile some crazy part of me (addict) talks me into it. I don’t feel too bad, now that I’ve had a good breakfast, but am mostly irritated at myself for it.

Another Sipdown!
I kept this from the Here’s Hoping TTB awhile back, & this evening I figured it was time to give it a try. I’d been curious about these mandarin puerhs for awhile.
Honestly, it was ok but nothing to get excited about. But still interesting to sample. I’ll try almost anything once!

This one is from the Grab bag in the BBBBox.

Not my thing, but I figured I should give it a try.

In a last ditch effort to clear out small quantities, & a get my count down by the ‘end of the the month’, I came across this one. I’ve had this for awhile, since TTB-A made it’s first round last spring!

It’s actually not bad, although I’d prefer it without the mintiness.

I’ve been packing up the BBBBox for Sil & Tasty Brew, with a couple of black teas & a sweet little trick or treat surprise (never mind that they won’t get it for awhile, lol).

I’ve also packed up my latest collection of samples for You, Sil!
And because of that, I get to count the following Sipdowns:
Coconut Milky Oolong – The Tea Spot
Smokejumper Ginger – The Tea Spot
Qu Hao Silk – The Tea Spot
Russian Caravan – The Tea Spot
Blackberry Custard – Trail Lodge Teas
I was gonna send the last of the Trail Lodge Caramel Oolong, but one of the boys drank it!

stupid box never making it in the mail grumble

I know, but thus is life. I also still haven’t received my Yunnan Sourcing order from a month ago…yet…

It’s the last day of the month, AND Halloween, & in between practicing sessions & food, I’m trying to manage a few sipdowns.

This one is from the very first box my tea sister Sil sent to me! And an awesome box it was, full of wonderful little packages! This is a black tea with citrus, cinnamon, vanilla, & other spices. It’s a little heavy on the cloves for me, but otherwise it really reminds me of ‘Constant Comment’. It’s been years since I’ve had a cup of that!

One of the things I like about these little black cones is that I can put one flower in my smallest Gaiwan, steep it a minute, pour it into a same size cup & enjoy repeat steepings several times, just adding a minute to each one, until there’s no flavor left…which takes awhile!

I’m so excited to have found this community! I’m a self-employed Harpist (acoustic & electric – Originals, Classical, Rock, Jazz, etc) & Singer/Songwriter. My days & nights revolve around teaching at home, playing gigs, gardening,& fixing awesome food to eat. My schedule is different everyday, but I just go with the flow, & I sip a lot of tea!

My love of Tea began with Herbals back in the 70’s. One of my favorites was a licorice blend from House of Hezekiah, an old tea shop in Kansas City. There was also a tea with mint, rose petals, chamomile, etc called Nuclear Casual Tea.
In the 80’s I gave up caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, (& a few illicit substances…), and brewed medicinal blends & tinctures to support 4 pregnancies (all children born at home). In the 90’s my love affair with green teas began when I discovered ‘The Republic of Tea’. Their beautiful teas & packaging inspired my original song, “TeaMind”, from my CD “Zen Breakfast”. If you’d like to hear the song for free, drop by my website.

In general, I drink my teas straight, but occasionally I add a pinch of Stevia & maybe some coconut or almond milk (I’m allergic to dairy, gluten, & various other things & avoid most sweets.)

I’ve explored a variety of teas:
Whites tend to be a little bland…sorry
Oolongs – wonderfully sensual
Roobios – I’m not a fan in general
Puehr – a fairly new direction for me
I’m not a huge fan of flavored teas, but I do make exceptions, & I’ll try just about anything once.

And Black Tea, Oh how I love thee!!
I am on a quest for the most wonderful breakfast cup! I will find you, my Love!
