I’m no «math-magician», but here’s some full proof equation:

Assam + Taiwan
_________________
Sil (swap) = Love

Thank you so much Sil for this one, whoa! Fruity, raisiny, bready, almost boozy assam, perfection in a cup! It does resemble Taiwanese Assam from Butiki a lot, though I find Butiki’s a bit fruitier.

It’s a homerun, thank you Sil for giving me the chance to try this amazing tea:-)

Sil

haha YAAAAAY!!!! I’m so glad that you enjoyed this one. I am a fan and i LOVE that i can get 25g samples from TTC, only spend 25$ and still get free shipping!

TheTeaFairy

Hey, thanks for the info, but a $100 order is sufficient for one day!!! (It’s on my shopping list now, silly!)

Sil

holy crap! 100$ from River tea? hahaha

TheTeaFairy

not.THAT.funny.

Fjellrev

First off, I appreciate the maths. It’s perfectly logical.

Secondly, holy crap. I’m going to ignore River Tea for quite a while.

TheTeaFairy

Thanks Fjellrev, don’t worry, I will not be an enabler and tell you how Rivertea is the most happy and exquisite website I have ever seen, and that I haven’t been that excited about a new company in ages, no. I won’t do that to you. Not gonna be that person.

Fjellrev

Haha well it is a pretty website. But is it just me, or do the pictures of some of the teas kind of remind you a bit of Teavana? I have faith that their tea is a lot better though.

OMGsrsly

That was exactly my thought, Fjellrev! But I still managed to fill a cart to $80. Not that I’m buying, but window shopping can be fun.

I love florals… but Jasmine is a hit or miss depending on how well it’s balanced, a bit like how overwhelming bergamot can be to earl greys.

When I discovered Jasmine Dragon pearls from Teavivre, it was a no brainer, favourite jasmine ever! Then later, this silver green became slightly superior for my own personal likings.

I had to play a lot with it in order to find my sweet spot. 85c, no more than 1.5 min on first steep. That’s how my cup gets filled with sweet jasmine blossoms just in the right amount, not soapy or too perfume like. When I close my eyes and let it invade me, Jasmine’s scent really fills my head with spring and summer thoughts…

Then I open my eyes, and realize how winter has invaded me instead! Not complaining, still beautiful, even though it’s such a looong season here!

This week, the mild weather brought Mr. Huge Raccoon around. He stayed as a tolerated guest for a few days, feeding himself on bird’s seeds before probably going back to sleep until spring.

And this morning, looking outside sipping on this tea, I was amazingly surprised by a new comer, Mr. Squirrel. Now why would I be amazed by a vulgar and common squirrel you ask? Well this Mr. Squirrel should be renamed Mr. White… Yes, a white squirrel. Don’t know about your part of the world, but we don’t see white squirrels around here. And it’s not of a whitish kind a grey, try a stunning beautiful winter white furry ball!

The strangest thing is, I don’t think it’s albinos, cause the eyes are not red, which correct me if I’m wrong, is one of the criteria.

You know how I love to post pictures and links, so here it is, not my greatest shot, but it was early and I zoomed in a rush, before I scare him away:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/laafeevertee/11969474573/lightbox/

He escaped in the woods not long after that. Hope he will return…but maybe tomorrow will be Mrs. Deer’s turn, lol!

Love my country life!

Stephanie

What a fancy tea! And what a fancy squirrel!

cryptickoi

good pic…rare find…its wonderful to able to see all of the different critters…

__Morgana__

Wow, that’s some squirrel. Clearly adapted for snowy climes. :-)

TheTeaFairy

Stephanie, fancy is correct!

Cryptickoi, wonderful yes, most of the time…last year, I had an encounter with 2 coyotes…impressive but just a tad scary! Luckily, they didn’t attempt anything and just walk though the backyard…

Haha, Morgana, very clever, maybe that’s all there is to it :-)

TeaNecromancer

That is a beautiful squirrel! Also what a yummy looking tea, I need to add it to my ‘must try’ list.

Nxtdoor

Holy crap, I’ve never seen a white squirrel. I admit I didn’t even know they come in white :)

ms.aineecbeland

I shan’t look, thanks for sharing.

caile

What a gorgeous and unusual squirrel!!

Tuscanteal

Strange beautiful white Squirrel. I do enjoy your tasting notes. You have a flare for writing :)

I also love Jasmine, but feel that if it’s done wrong it can be soapy and perfume-y as well.

TheTeaFairy

Amanda: it’s a hit in terms of yumminess!

Nxtdoor: I didn’t know either!!!

Seule771: where have been? We’ve missed you :-)

Caile: that’s why I felt like sharing it :-)

Tuscantel: thank you, it means a lot…I hope to take some real English lessons someday to fix my second language flaws, lol :-)

This was my tea of the morning (no incident today, y’all, smooth easy going morning…)

I probably like Darjeeling as much as I do Assam. Some of them are as effective in the morning as any bold Assams.

This is another one I purchase by the tin (when I say by the tin, I mean 100g or more).

I only slightly prefer SF to FF cause they usually hold more of that fruity muscatel taste I like so much. I also love the fresh citrusy astringency this one offers (not bitter) that activates my tastebuds. That feature is usually more present in the FF I own. So this tea makes the Dajeeling worlds collide!

I’ve said in previous note on this tea that it feels like my favourite pair of denim: it hugs me in all the right places. Well nothing has changed.

I’m in love with this tea and always surprised it hasn’t received more reviews.

(See previous note)

Today was a very good day, I was at home with the cats and dog. I watched some old Seinfeld episodes and laugh really hard. «Master of your domain» and «Goerge’s world collides» for those familiar with the show…OMG, a gem.

Laughter is the best therapy. If your a cat lover like I am please don’t hesitate and click this link. If you’re not a cat lover, don’t click cause it will make you hate them even more. I don’t want that!
A special friend sent it to me 2 days ago, and i can’t explain how much it amused me. Still does. Thanks, you know who you are :-)

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s13dLaTIHSg

cryptickoi

my cats would never do anything like that ;)

TheTeaFairy

Mine doooo!!!!

TheTeaFairy

Cryptickoi, were you being sarcastic, or are your cars really well behaved, lol, just curious :-)

cryptickoi

haha…i’m glad you had no mishaps trying to get to your tea today…

TheTeaFairy

Damn typos, I meant cats, of course your cars are well behaved!

TheTeaFairy

They are all at eye level now…you live and learn!

cryptickoi

haha…yes i’m being sarcastic…its their house,they just let me stay here….

cryptickoi

luckily my car does behave…

Dexter

“its their house, they just let me stay here….” That’s pretty much how it is, and mine has me really well trained

TheTeaFairy

I’m with you, we live in their houses, but I like all opinionated living things, so it’s all good!

TheTeaFairy

Hahaha! Good to know you can be tamed after all, Dex!

cryptickoi

yeah, mine typically get what they want….

keychange

I’ve added this to my shopping list! let the revolution begin!

TheTeaFairy

Haha! Keychange, you are putting much pressure on me, my dear partner in crime!

TeaExplorer

Thank you for the YouTube link. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. Our cats have done all those things except intentionally turn off the TV :)
And your tasting note on the Darjeeling sounds interesting. I have added it to my shopping list – Thanks!

TheTeaFairy

TeaExplorer, I know, right? I also thanked the person who sent it my way :-)
My cats have turn on/off/change the channel of the tv, more than once, stepping on the remote controL ACCIDENTALLY, I’m hoping, lol…(though after watching this, I’m not quite sure!!!)
This tea is good but can’t be compared to the complexity of the finest spring Darjeeling you’ll ever taste, but I just love how it suits me as a good morning companion:-)

Chain reaction:

Feed the dog.

Attention, kibble escape: reaches for the water bowl.

Vaguely notice, don’t care.

Dog notices.

Dog eats kibbles, keeps the extra juicy one for dessert.

Dog has a choice: drink the water (it’s full), but not that patient and thirsty.

Dog goes for what seems to be the obvious choice: spills the water all over the kitchen and eats kibble.

Dog now satisfied.

Water everywhere, slippery, I fall once. Soaked PJ’s, bruised tooshie.

Haven’t had a decent cup of tea yet.

Take a break and read some Steepster notes.

Get inspired by this tea, decide to fix myslef a pot.

Tin is out of reach.

Pull out the mini bench from under the counter.

Stretching, on the tip of my toes.

Tin is really at an awkwardly high place…

Oh-oh…feel a bench slip coming. Water…spill not cleaned properly.

Damn kibble.

Major dangerous off balance feeling…tin is grabbed at last second…

I go flying… I mean, FLYING folks.

Stainless steel stove drawer ends my fall.

Ouch.

Assam tea tin: checked! Still firmly held in one hand.

I know tea dedication when I see it.

Tea is good right now…was it worth it? Let me think about that…

ETA : in this disarray, I forgot to describe the tea, sorry!

It provides such a beautifully rich malty smooth assam cup, a tad astringent just the way I like. It’s on the fruity side this one. Very good quality, at such a decent price once again. Zen tea is so affordable, perfect place if you are starting a straight tea journey, you can buy many samples for very cheap. I buy this one by the tin, time to replace it!

keychange

My! what an ordeal! Now stay in one place, for heaven’s sake!

caile

LOL (sorry!). Hope you’re OK! :-)

TheTeaFairy

Keychange, i’m standing still!!!

Caile, «LOL» to say the least! Too bad there wasn’t a camera on me, i would have posted it here. I’m ok thanks :-)

cryptickoi

i’m glad you’re okay…

caile And, you saved the tea! ;-)
Shelley_Lorraine

When I loose kibble, or cereal. .heh, really anything that lands on the floor for that matter. . .Ive learned my lesson to tend to it immediately. I have four dogs who always show up, but I bark a really loud “HEY!” at them, so I can get to the dropped items first. However, I have managed to slip on my one dog’s drool a few times. Usually I have to put him outside while i prepare food (he never drools except at food time and its a LOT of drool. yuck!!). But sometimes he thinks its food time when its not, and I don’t notice, until I slip on it. :)

TheTeaFairy

Thanks Cryptickoi, just a little sore!

Caile, yay for preserving the tea at any cost, right? Paraplegic, but tea fortunate!!

Shelly, i have only one dog and he’s a neat freak and so obedient! i’m very surprised he did this!
Wow, guess you have to be organized with 4 dogs in the house! (I have a few cats also). But as much as I love him, I don’t think I could handle another dog. ( maybe the fact that he’s the size of a giraffe has something to do with that lol)

Shelley_Lorraine

I have cats too. Its a zoo, I need to be in control. haha. My dogs are all spaniels 12-20lb. As for giraffe dogs, I don’t think I could afford to feed more than one of those regardless of what my patience can handle :D

Kamyria

Omg.. lol.. I’m sorry! Well, I’m glad you’re ok and the tea is safe. :)

Roughage

Ouch, I hope you are not feeling too sore. So, now that you have had time to think, was the tea worth it? :)

TheTeaFairy

Well roughage, I’ve consulted the tooshie, and all is find, was totally worth it. Not the tea’s fault. Must reevaluate my storage abilities, why such a favourite was kept so out of reach to begin with?

OMGsrsly

I’m so glad you’re ok!

Suziqzer

Ouch! Glad you are OK & that your tasty tea was spared as well.

tea-sipper

I’m so sorry for your day!

TheTeaFairy

Thanks guys, I’m ok, really, thank god the rest of my day was better :-)

Dexter

:(( Boooo glad you are ok, be careful, sometimes the hurts show up the next day. Relax and drink some tea.

TheTeaFairy

Thanks Dex, i will :-)

I told Sil yesterday that I would experience the mystic powers of the Tiger this morning as my breakfast tea. This is all thanks to her and the generous sample she sent my way after I told her how curious I was to try this legend of a tea. Now I just found out she ran out herself, sad face…that goes to show her generosity and willingness to share. Thank you so much Sil!

I understand all the hype around this tea now.

A true rough on the edges lumberjack would not shy away from this tea. But it’s also good for us Canadian women, remember, we do like ourselves a strong cup in the morning! In general, I don’t want too finicky and complicated early in the morning, I want a hard worker that takes its job seriously, aiming to please ME!!!

It’s a rich bold and malty cup. But there’s zero bitterness to it, mellow and sweet, yet, strong and powerful.

Even as it cooled down, it remained as smooth as a baby’s derriere ;-)

On the list it goes, it will make a perfect everyday kick me in the petuli Assam!

Sil

So glad you liked it! Well worth the price if you can pick it up when A&D does free shipping to canada. Also the tin is just darling! :)

Terri HarpLady

I’ve been really happy with A & D’s damn fine teas, this one especially!

__Morgana__

I am such a fan of Andrews & Dunham in general, I can’t tell you how much my fingers are itching to hop over to their web site and order some of this. But I fear the slippery slope of tea ordering justification. Sigh.

TheTeaFairy

Thanks Sil for letting me know about the free shipping I’ll keep a look for it, as you know, I’m in no rush to order :-)

Terri, this is my first A & D ever… I like the humour behind the brand, will sure place an order eventually!

TheTeaFairy

Morgana, boy do I know about finger itch, I have it on all 10 fingers!!!!

Sil

they have a new tea as well that is pretty good. I also like their smokey tea but the quantitity would take me forever to get through.. I keep meaning to email them to see if i can custom make a 3 pack and include the new tea instead of the EG

__Morgana__

Crap. I DID IT!

TheTeaFairy

Hahaha! Morgana, that was funny!
But i must resist, i’m on a «pseudo» hiatus, you should never post comments like that. Ever.

__Morgana__

I’m sorry, TF. I can assure you it won’t happen with anything other than A&D. Although…. I keep hearing the word Samovar in my brain. (Sticking fingers in ears and humming loudly.)

TheTeaFairy

Lalalala, lalalalalaa, lala, lalalalala….

TheTeaFairy

Really lurking at the adventure pack…

Dexter

" this is my first A & D ever… " Hmmmm interesting – add that to the proife – will see what I can do about that…

TheTeaFairy

Hooo, Dexter, the profiler…you make me smile, I like that :-)

How bad is it to have caffeinated tea when you can’t sleep? Well that’s exactly what I’m doing, since I know i can’t sleep anyways, why settle for a boring tisane I ask you?

Plus this tea is so malty chocolaty tonight, despite its caffeine content, it might give me enough comfort to put me to sleep. I mean, not forever, just for the night!

I brought a thermos and a mini gaiwan to the bedroom. Dog is snoring. If you don’t know, Dexter snores, yep, he does. I kicked (gently) my significant other for that reason for many years…yet I can’t get myself to kick the dog, go figure…

Anyways, this tea is delicious. I don’t have too much inspiration cause it is 4am after all, but steep after steep, it’s delicious. (I said delicious already, didn’t I?) ok time to stop writing and drinking. Maybe it’s working! Good night…

JC

Oh, you too had a long night. I feel like I did two days worth of errands last night because I didn’t want to sleep for some reason… I don’t want to blame tea… but it may be related lol

tigress_al

I didn’t sleep again either :(

TheTeaFairy

There seem to be quite a few insomniacs on Steepster…Tigress, JC, I sympathize! Being used to it, I can function well with 3 or 4 hours a night. But completely sleepless is a problem. (Of course it is!!!)
I hope we all fall into Morphée’s arms tonight as I like to say :-)

JC

I never went to sleep. I’ve been known to do this once every few months. For some reason one night I feel restless and well, skip on sleeping, but at least I try to be productive about it (I don’t have a perfect record though).

TheTeaFairy

Oh my, that’s terrible, but at least you get something out of it, good on ya!
Not to make my situation sound worst, but at the moment I get one to two completely sleepless nights a week where just like you, I don’t even bother going to bed. That restless feeling. Sometimes I go on the treadmill, lol!
And caffeine has nothing to do with it, I have done the zero caffeine thing and it changes nothing for me…

yyz

My sympathies, I had a job that totally messed up my internal clock, let’s just say it was extreme shift work with no consistent hours. Although I now tend to sleep at least 6 hrs it is often difficult to arrive at it. I no longer go through that period where you’re so overtired you’re freezing. I don’t find that caffeine interferes with my ability to sleep.

Butiki Teas

Ugh, sorry to hear that. I hope you get some good rest tonight. I have some sleeping issues too. Every month or two I have trouble sleeping for about a week then I get all tired and cranky and eventually I get so exhausted that I just pass out. Sorry to hear about the dog snoring. My hubby sometimes goes through terrible snoring fits. I basically have to shake him until he stops but I only get about 10-15 minutes of silence so I have to try fall a sleep between the snoring. I usually end up shaking him 3 or 4 times before passing out.

TheTeaFairy

yyz, yes I can understand how working shifts can mess you up! Sleep depravation is unfortunately a common thing now a days…

Stacy, I’m so sorry to read you are also experiencing this problem…it can be such a discomfort.
On the other hand, I have to laugh at the snoring situation! Now I have a picture of you in my head, savagely and frantically shaking poor defenceless hubby in the middle of the night, lol!

Butiki Teas

Poor? Defenseless? Imagine a train going through a lumber mill. That is what my hubby sounds like. Its almost like he’s intentionally going for a record of loudest snorer ever. I start out gently shaking him but if he doesn’t stop let’s just say he gets a good shaking.

Fjellrev

Aye, sorry to everyone here for experiencing sleeping issues. I’ll join the club. Too bad there isn’t some magical spell that can conk us out, let us get adequate sleep, and not feel groggy/weird all day (as I hear that is what sleeping pills do to a person).

TheTeaFairy

Awwww! Stacy, I tell you, this place is good for the moral! Thanks for making me laugh so hard it hurts..and sorry I was being so inconsiderate towards your own suffering :-(

Fjellrev: sorry to hear about that, welcome to our select club «Sleepless in Steepster» then (lol, any one from Seattle?)
Yes the magic pill…I wont go into details but let’s just say that you can’t go on indefinitely the way I have been…eventually, sleep depravation will play big tricks on you and the doctor will give you sh…t for keep on refusing to take it. Then the dilema. That’s where I’m at…

Butiki Teas

It definitely is! Hahaha. :D

JC

I try to be positive about my lost nights, it doesn’t always work, the worst thing is trying not to succumb to the temptation of going to sleep during the day the next day. And most of you need to get yourself some noise reduction headsets LOL!

@TheTeaFairy, sometimes if you have a routine that would usually make you tired and get you able to rest helps a long way. I go to the gym after work just to make sure I don’t have that extra physical energy that you don’t burn in an office environment. Also, try ASMR if you like soothing sounds.

Mini tuocha, please help a fairy in needs of relief! I ate too much. When I do, puerh always comes to rescue. I don’t know how it can be so soothing, but it just is. I don’t have digestion problems at all. Usually. But…from time to time, things happen.

Oh, I was a bad, bad, fairy tonight, yes I was…

If you’ve been reading my notes for a while, you know I’m some kind of a health freak. Proud Vitamix owner for many years, name any fruit/veggie combination, I have had it. I don’t care much for sugar, eat lots of fish, love quinoa and leafy greens.

Having said that, I do like me some piece of meat every now and then, and I have been known for eating anything dark chocolate in excess…

But I have another flaw…( wine doesn’t count, it’s a fruit portion, Roughage said it, and he’s very smart and knowlegable) It’s a big flaw…to this day, a secret one. I’m willing to share with you Steepster friends, but husssssh, please keep it quiet: I’m a sucker for boxed KD mac & cheese. I know, I know, its no good…but I like it. There. It’s out.

Today being a migraine day (all gone now, thanks to a friend who kept my mind busy in the right way!), I needed something to indulge for dinner. After a lot of consideration, I’ve decided to open THE cupboard, the one locked under a secret code and pulled out an «in case of emergency» KD box.

I crushed some Herbes de Provence and parmesan cheese to make it «gourmet» (yes, there is such a thing as Gourmet KD in my kitchen!) and put the dish under broil for a few minutes. Needless to say, I ate the whole thing. No veggies. Just 100% pure carbs. I’m full. Burp. (Oops!!!)

Thanks mini Tuocha for supporting me.

Steepster fellows, please don’t judge me…

(See previous note)

Nxtdoor

Oh god. This is too funny. I laughed at the Mac & cheese first. Then at the herbs de Provence on it. Not having grown up in North America I don’t get the Mac & cheese. But My common law spouse is born and raised Canadian. I tried making gourmet Mac n cheese from scratch and don’t you know it, it ain’t as good as the boxed shit. I guess unless it’s glowing orange it just don’t cut it.

Fjellrev

Haha way to be making it super gourmet.

TheTeaFairy

Nxdoor, I think KF is engraved in us North Americans, it’s in our DNA, lol!

Fjellrev, it’s still crap, but I’d rather have gourmet crap than just plain crap, don’t you agree?

Fjellrev

You’re right about that! I never thought about sprucing up KD like that.

TheTeaFairy

OMG, just noticed I wrote KF instead of KD, lol! Corrected, must be my dyslexia, KF as in Kraft probably?
I pimp my food all the time, it’s my creative side :-)

cryptickoi

I love my vitamix,it gets used every morning…everyone has a weakness…haha

TheTeaFairy

Aw, thanks cryptickoi, glad to know I’m not the only one enjoying my green morning juice! Isn’t it a life changer? How long have you been using yours?

Kamyria

LOL Oh no! Not boxed KD! I’m not judging, I swear I’m not judging… lol I’m not much better myself lately.. I’m a fellow health freak currently on a massive comfort food binge… I really want to eat more veggies, I really do, it’s just that my hands are doing what they want and not picking them out of the fridge lately!

TheTeaFairy

Kamyria, don’t be too hard on yourself, we all need some comfort binging. Fruits and veggies will still be there when your hands return, haha!

cryptickoi

I’ve only had mine for about 6mos. but I’ve been doing protein/superfood smoothies every morning for 3 years I guess…

ashmanra

LOL! Same dirty secret here, but with Penzey’s Sunny Paris or Ruth Ann’s Muskegon Avenue spices added! The gooier it is, the better it tastes. Al dente, of course!

cryptickoi

I’m sort of a health nut too…I really wish there were a lot more organic choices when it came to teas…

TheTeaFairy

Ashmanra, listen to us, who are we kidding? gourmet al dente KD really? lol, as if it’s some kind of delicatessen. Oh well, I guess it is to us! Thanks for also sharing your secret! (Now gotta look for those spice blends!)

Dexter

Closet KD lover as well. I like garlic sausage, onion, and tomato added. Al dente? sorry nope – over cooked and mushy for me. KD isn’t real pasta. LOL

cryptickoi

now I’m thinking dark chocolate with berries and ripe pu…mmm…

mrs.stenhouse12

Another KD lover here! Only time I got tired of it was when I ate a lot of it as a first year student lol, now I’m back to loving it :) dill, garlic/garlic powder, salt and pepper for me on it, in various combinations of the 4. :)

TheTeaFairy

Cryptickoi, me too for 3 years, but luckily, I started with the Vitamix. Wow, it must have made a huge difference for you, after 2.5 years with a regular blender! It’s a leap of faith financially but it is worth every penny. I don’t always add protein powder (the vegetal kind) cause most of the time I add whole almonds, hemp and chia seeds, and greek yogurt. So delicious!

cryptickoi

yeah,regular blenders suck…haha

TheTeaFairy

OMG, people, I think we all came out at the same time, lol, Dexter, leave the closet open!!!
Had no clue there were so many KD lovers here :-)

Miss Lena, sounds delicious!

TheTeaFairy

Dexter sausages for real??? Not judging, but, you know…

Dexter

LOL garlic sausage isn’t the same as breakfast sausage, but yes I KNOW. It’s ok, ham works well too….

__Morgana__

It’s hard not to love mac and cheese. It’s such a pure comfort food. And the Kraft version is sort of the gold standard. I’m so glad my kids have graduated from mac and cheese every other night or so as it keeps me out of trouble! I like the gussied up versions too, though I can do without the breadcrumbs that seem to be de rigueur for the gourmet types. I have to confess that we like Annie’s shells also, though I try to limit myself to just a taste!

TheTeaFairy

Morgana, yes I can imagine how being exposed to it every other night is a bad, bad thing for mom, lol! Not much of a breadcrumbs fan either…

mrs.stenhouse12

Mmm all this KD talk is making me want to make some..too bad we don’t have any in the house at the moment! Popcorn it is :)

TheTeaFairy

You get my seal of approval, MissLena!

OMGsrsly

I love browning some butter in a pan and adding the cheese sauce mixed with a bit of milk to cook and melt it before adding the noodles back. That’s how I ‘gourmet it up’!

TheTeaFairy

OMGsrsly, welcome to our KD outing then, sounds great :-)

K S

We saw an episode of Diners Driveins and Dives where they made a fancy smancy mac & cheese with a ton of different cheeses. We went to the trouble of finding them all and trying it. Ehh. We are back to the good stuff made with Velveeta instead of water is in that pouch and throw in some hot dogs. I can almost hear my arteries snapping shut.

TheTeaFairy

Yes bad for the arteries, but so good for the soul :-) KS, doesn’t it feel good to embrace this decadent habit of ours?

OMGsrsly

I got a case of Annie’s gluten free. So tempting to go home and make it, but I’m off grains until the end of the month! This is the first time I’ve actually been tempted. KD is miracle comfort food for sure. :)

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect everyday green TGY. By everyday, I don’t mean not as tasty, I mean that I like it so much, I want to find one that is reasonably priced, without compromising the taste.

My luck ran out after trying multiple lower grade samples, I came to the conclusion that I must break the bank if I want to drink on daily basis the type of TGY I’m really fond of.

Well, that was before I tried the King from Teavivre! Regardless of the price, this is one of the best I have tried period, and it’s under 16$ at regular price for 100gr!!!

It is almost at par with another one I bought in a much smaller amount but would have costed me 45$ for same quantity, that’s unbelievable!

It is floral and buttery, with hints of lilac and vanilla. It tastes like the mountains. I just love those floral oolongs, and this tea will allow me to stick to the plan and put to rest those prized Oolongs that cost a little fortune. (I plan on drinking the expensive ones only once or twice a week but I always end up drinking more cause I crave them too much).

I mentioned the prices today to illustrate how expensive this little hobby of ours can be.

Then I think of all the beer I don’t drink and I make my piece with it!

(If you have the beer + the tea, well it means you either have a bigger budget or you have a bigger problem, lol)

Thank you Teavivre for this King of a tea! I will be happy to reorder without having to cry for my wallet!

Fjellrev

I’m glad you found one you love!

keychange

Just added this to my shopping list. I love anything floral and sweet.

TheTeaFairy

Fjellrev, ine must never give up!

Keychange, it is worth ordering!

Nxtdoor

I have wine, food and tea. I need a heck of a budget for sure!

TheTeaFairy

Oh, I didn’t list wine on purpose, lol. I see wine as a necessity just like food and tea as well, beer is just a recreational beverage to me. No offence to the beer lovers, I totally understand their passion :-) Yes, not good for the budget…

Roughage

Wine is a fruit portion. We are supposed to have five portions of fruit and vegetables per day as part of a healthy diet. I always get my five a day! Beer is just empty carbohydrates!! :)

TheTeaFairy

Love you Roughage <3

Dexter

If I pass on the beer and the wine – am I allowed to keep my out of control tea stash?

TheTeaFairy

Oh, Dexter, then you get extra points and you get to increase your stash…I’m currently working on that :-)

mrmopar

What about hard cider? It’s a fruit so it has to be good for a healthy diet also.

TheTeaFairy

mrmopar: DEFINITELY healthy, hey, it’s 100% natural right??? How could it NOT be healthy, lol! Extra points for you also :-)

Roughage

Brandy is made from wine, but in concentrated form. Does that mean that it is even healthier than wine because it has more goodness in every glass? So, that really means that I should drink more brandy, doesn’t it?

TheTeaFairy

Roughage, I am no expert in this matter, I do not drink Brandy, but I have absolute trust in your own expertise…but here’s what know «Research has shown that the famous drink from the south west of France helps prevent heart disease and battles obesity.»
So that makes you a skinny man with a healthy heart!
The fact that it’s more concentrated means you also get extra points :-)
Yeah, Brandy is healthy!
(However, I don’t know if it’s of importance to you, but scientific cirrhosis analyzes show totally different results and conclusions for the liver. Oh well, just saying.)

Bio

I am French Canadian, so please forgive me if my English is not always perfect :-/

My relationship with tea in a nutshell:

I’m married to straight Black. I have torrid love affairs with Oolong and Puerh. I party with Green and White occasionally. Flavored are not my BFF, I usually stay away from them.

Love Steepster, a place for tea lovers, where you learn and share with others.

About me:

I am a free spirit, I let people be who they are and expect the same in return.

Books! I love classic literature, but also modern and pretty much anything that captures my attention.

Music is also something I can’t live without… From Bach to Nirvana, my ears know no boundaries…

Animal and nature lover, amateur photographer.

I’ve been drinking tea for as long as I can remember.

Drinking tea is a sensorial experience. The name in itself “Camellia Sinensis” lingers the promess of an adventure for the senses…

Not a big «swapper», but will occasionally. Not because I don’t want to share but because I’m trying not to hoard so much.

Also, I have narrowed down the teas I really like over the years, and I don’t feel the need to try and buy everything the way I used to. (Maybe I have become a tea snob? Sigh…)

My ratings: because I pretty much drink only teas that I judge exceptional, my ratings are usually high. Don’t be shocked to see lots of 90’s and a few 100’s. That’s because I’ve had my share of crapy teas and I’m done with that ;-)

You can find me on Instagram here, I post about my tea sessions mostly, but also about the beautiful nature that surrounds me, and my fury companions :-)
