Wanja Purple Tea from Wanja Tea of Kenya
100

I was very satisfied with this tea and would gladly take it over your average Darjeeling or Assam. The purple tea was decidedly less malty than most of the dark teas that I’ve encountered. At the forefront, the tea is incredibly smooth and tasty. That’s followed by a pleasantly bitter aftertaste that was very different from your average black tea. The buzz wasn’t too shabby either. ;) I highly recommend this tea. * HEY TEA PEOPLE!!! WHY NOT GIVE THEM A FOLLOW ON TWITTER? @WanjaTeaofKenya LOOKS LIKE THEY NEED SOME FRIENDS! :) *

This tea was wonderful. We enjoyed this one on a cold evening next to the fire, and it really went well with the moment. It has a very “Autumnal” taste to it. It’s the little bit of spice combined with the fruit flavors that really reminds me of fall. It truly is “A Black Celebration” as the label says. There may be a lot of “monk’s blends” available out there from various companies, but there’s only one “The Monk”.

Premium Dragon Well Green Tea (Long Jing) from Teavivre

This is easily one of the best Dragonwell’s I’ve had to date. OMG, The smell! Immediately after opening the package, I was completely amazed by the smell! It kind of reminded me of fish food flakes (I MEAN THAT IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE). It had that light, oceanic smell. The taste followed up on the smell’s promise. It was fantastic! Super-fresh, high-grade Dragonwell. It was more vegetal than most Dragonwell’s I’ve tried. It was a little less on the nutty/toasty side, which was great by me!

Bailin Gongfu Black Tea from Teavivre

This tea was amazing! Right after my first sip, my brain said, “This is some good black tea”. The first thing that occurred to me were some citrus notes – perhaps like a sweet lemon or tangerine. As I sipped on, I detected a sort of muscatel flavor that you would expect from a good Darjeeling. Finally, after several cups, the incredible smoothness of this tea is what really won me over. It has a little bit of that muscatel flavor without being abrasive.

This is another excellent tea from Tea Vivre. They’re batting 1000 with me right now, so I’d say any tea in their store is probably a safe bet. Their packaging is great too! I don’t know about their larger quantites, but the little samples they sent me could not have been done better! Four little pre-measured paper sacks with Chinese on them sealed inside of a larger ziplock bag with steeping instructions and info about the tea printed on it! Each paper sack contained about 4.5 grams, so two sacks were just enough to fill my Chatsford 4-cup! All bags are clearly labeled and completely opaque to guard from sunlight. Nice work!

Premium Jasmine Dragon Pearls Green Tea from Teavivre

I drink GALLONS upon GALLONS of green tea, and Dragon Pearls are among my favorite varieties. It’s just great how the little pearls slowly unfurl steep after steep. They’re super-portable, and among my favorite teas to travel with.

I’ve had Dragon Pearls from over a dozen different tea companies, and these are among the best of them. They do what Dragon Pearls are supposed to do, and taste how they’re supposed to taste. The oily, floral taste is present on the forefront and the aftertaste, but it isn’t overbearing at all. Just perfect. This is the third tea that I’ve tried from Tea Vivre, and they’ve really won be over with their high-quality teas.

Yun Nan Dian Hong Black Tea – Golden Tip from Teavivre

First of all, I have to say that JacquelineM put it the best with her tasting note of this same tea. It’s just spot-on, and I think everyone should read it and then go buy this awesome tea. It seems like everyone who’s added a tasting note to this one Steepster can at least agree that it’s a 4-5 star Chinese black.

That said, one thing that seems to be missing from some of the other tasting notes about this tea are the floral aspects. On the forefront, you get the tea (a nice black with maybe a little oiliness?). Then, you get the crusty sweet potatoes baked with a touch of orange juice (mentioned by JacquelineM). Finally, you get a mouth full of flowers (not over-the-top, but just right). It’s beautiful, and I’m really enjoying my last 4 cups of it with these spicy noodles right now. :o)

This was my first pu-erh ever, so I’m not in a position to rate it compared to other pu-erh’s. That said, I was expecting a more rank and rancid taste from what I understood to basically be rotten tea, but it was really more earthy and grassy. I enjoyed it very much and can’t wait to try more!

We bought a small tin of this to be a decaffeinated treat in the evenings, and it’s very tasty! It initially has a nice, mellow sweetness, and then the kiwi bits add a tart kick in the aftertaste.

This tea was a very pleasant tea. My wife and I tried it the other night as a dessert tea, and it worked very well. While the tea’s flavor does resemble the taste of cheesecake, it also tastes like tea – as a well-blended tea should. The green tea base was also nice, because it’s lower caffeine content makes it something that you could enjoy in the evening without fear of losing any sleep.
