El Monstro drank China Keemun First Grade zk11 by Upton Tea Imports

Smells like dark chocolate with a little bit of smoke.

Taste is pretty robust and reminds me of a lot of the UK breakfast blends, and the smoked smell comes through on taste as well…almost like a less smokey lapsang. There is a faint note I’m getting in the background that is kind of maple like as well. After it cooled way down it actually kind of tastes like some white teas I’ve tried. Good tea at a good price.

I’ve been drinking tea since I was a youngin’, as a way of relaxing before bed. I ventured out from bagged, mass produced tea when I tried some loose leaf Earl Grey at the old man’s house years back. I’m still not too proud for the occasional bagged stuff, saving my snobbery for rare craft beer. I gravitate towards chinese black-tea varieties, Japanese greens, unflavored oolongs, and the occasional “I cant sleep” type of herbal teas. I signed up so I can keep track of the teas I’ve tried, and what I want to keep in my cupboard on the regular.

Currently on the never-ending search for the perfect Thai iced tea.
