I love this tea! It’s floral and fruity (grape) with a nice mild honey sweetness. Hardly any bitterness. Very smooth. It’s such a light sheng. I could drink this all day (which I have been today). I’m just annoyed I didn’t buy a cake of this when it was available. Oh, well, I’ve got plenty in my cupboard to sip down.

This tea is a bit strange. It’s got a good jasmine flavour to it but I’m getting all kinds of other flavours as well. I can’t really pick out the white tea from the green but it still blends nicely together. I think I can pick out the honeysuckle but there are 3 ingredients that are foreign to me. I don’t know what these taste like:
Bee pollen
blue pea flower
dried star fruit

It might be the bee pollen I am picking up. Just wondering what those above things taste like. It’s a strange mix to add to the tea but it does work. LP, you are very creative. Can you give a little insight into this tea? I’ve read your tasting note on it and saw your Facebook video but still wonder… why star fruit? Why bee pollen? What is blue pea flower?

Flavors: Honeysuckle, Jasmine

Liquid Proust

That weird taste is probably blue pea flower. It’s that flower people were using as a tea that became popular because it brews blue. I don’t like the taste because it’s like a wild funk that won’t leave you alone; however, others seem to like it. One day I just decided that I wanted to have ‘fairy dust’ on one of my teas and well, floral was the way to go… but then I realized it has to be sweet and colorful, so I did what I did. Hopefully all of that makes sense.

Thanks for the info.

I did a google on it now and all these blue tea pictures came up. It is very pretty. Finally found one that says it tastes woody and earthy. Interesting! It has many health benefits too. First time for me even hearing about it.

nothing you do makes sense btw LP

I can’t believe I’ve had this tea for almost a year and didn’t leave a tasting note. What’s even stranger is how it’s tasting to me today. I don’t remember it tasting like this. It must have been a typical green before so I never left a note.

This morning I am getting spicy notes off of this green. It tastes like some of the notes I get from a young sheng. Strange huh? This tea must be the one used to make some of the Yunnan sheng’s . It’s got a slightly nutty, smoky taste with a bit of spicy note. How strange I never noticed that before about this tea.

Sip down on this one today. This tea is so good! The rose and buttery oolong go perfectly with together. Will miss this one.

I have put off having this tea only because of the unusual brewing instructions. So I put 2.5 g in boiling water and boiled for 10 min.

First impression: It tasted like dirty dishwater. Not that I drink a lot of dirty dishwater. Then I realized that was a bit harsh. This tea started to grow on me a bit the more I had.

It’s supposed to be something like a puerh. It does have similarities but is quite different as well. I don’t know of any puerh you can boil for 10 minutes and have it turn out fine.

There’s no bitterness in this tea. Even after boiling for 10 minutes! There’s a slight sweetness but it tastes like woody twigs boiled in water a bit of earth. Doesn’t sound very appealing but it’s not bad. I’ve heard worse things used to describe tea (tobacco, leather). Overall, enjoyed trying out this tea but it’s not something I would buy.

I had this tea a few days ago. Looks like I am the first to review it.

At first I didn’t even know this tea was green. With a name like Wild Ancient Tea, I figured it would be a black tea. I checked out the website for a little insight into why it’s called Wild Ancient Tea but nothing there. I am guessing it’s come from some old trees that’s gone wild.

It’s a very smooth green. Not astringent at all. A bit nutty and green bean tasting. No grassy or green taste to this tea at all. Good for those ones who enjoy a non-astringent green. I like them either way.

I am really enjoying this green tea this morning. It’s not like a Sencha but does have some notes the deep greens sencha’s have. It reminds me a bit of my Rizhao green (when it was fresh- my Rizhao is getting old now). It even looks like Rizhao green with the dry tea. It’s a dark green curly leaf. There’s a sweet nutty and green pea flavour that Chinese greens have along with the grassy, green flavour from the Japanese teas. Also picking up a bit of fruitiness. Just like so many Japanese teas, it is so fresh. Just love how fresh it tastes.

The price is excellent on this tea too. I only paid $12.32 US for 100g. That’s amazing. I got a Japanese tea tin too and it’s so beautiful. Only paid $4.40 US for that. Overall, with the shipping which was reasonable too I only paid $22.00. I placed my order at the end of February and it arrived from Japan yesterday. How good is that? I am very impressed. I know the exchange rate to Cdn is crappy right now but overall very happy with my first order from this company. I will definitely order again in the future.
Here’s my picture of the tin and tea:

I was telling Hubby how proud I am of myself for only ordering one tea. He just rolled his eyes but I know everyone on Steepster understands. How often have I gone to place an order for one or two teas and it blooms into 10 or more? Too often! Yes, I know my cupboard is full but this one tea is a real treat.

This tea tastes very mineral to me. Hardly any bitterness. Just a small amount that makes it quite pleasant. I’m not getting any apricot or fruity notes I get from some young shengs. Earlier infusions were thick and silky on the tongue – a bit creamy. It was a bit less on later infusions. A bit of sweetness. Overall a nice smooth sheng.

Brewed at 75C for 30 sec. Very vegetal, grassy tea with a bit of astringency. A bit of sweetness too. I am feeling very sleepy this afternoon and brewed this one to try and wake me up but it doesn’t seem to be working. It was a pretty tasty cup.

Flavors: Astringent, Grass, Sweet, Vegetal

This is my third time trying to leave a review for this tea. First time I got the filter turned on on my keyboard and couldn’t type anymore. 2nd time got interrupted and hit back losing my review. lol Lets hope the 3rd time works.

This tea is moonlight tea and chrysanthemum pressed together. First couple of brews the chrysanthemum is strong. Tea was very strong of chrysanthemum with a dill flavour. Not bad but since I love moonlight tea , I was disappointed that I couldn’t get much from the moonlight tea.

Infusions 3-6 more of the honey notes came through from the moonlight tea. I barely got any malt notes from the moonlight but supposedly this tea will age and the malt notes will come out when it ages. Chrysanthemum intensity came down a bit and blended well.

Overall, not a bad tea but I think I like moonlight tea on it’s own. Same with chrysanthemum.

Flavors: Dill, Honey

Lion

My impressions were just the same as yours!

Bio

Green teas are my favourite teas but I also enjoy: white, some herbal, rooibos, raw pu’erh, light oolongs, a little bit of black , and a little bit of ripe pu’erh. I have moved away from artificial flavourings and there’s hardly anything left in my cabinet with artificial flavouring or colours. It is mostly straight teas or tea blends.
