Oh my. I wasn’t expecting to like this tea. I’ve been trying to like black tea and there’s very few I really enjoy. This was quite a pleasant surprise. The black tea doesn’t seem overly strong and mixes well with the peppermint, peppercorns & chocolate. I can taste it all and it all goes together soooo well. Yes, I could see myself buying some of this. Thanks MissB for putting this one in the mystery package!

I am on a strawberry kick. Maybe because I can’t wait for spring? So I bought two strawberry teas at Tea Emporium today. Since I had enough caffeine this morning I went with the rooibos. This is quite nice. It doesn’t quite have the strawberry flavour I was hoping for but that doesn’t mean the strawberry notes are not prominent. They are. Strawberry is just a very hard flavour to get right. At least there is no hibiscus in this. I really hate when they ruin a tea with hibiscus. I bet this would be amazing as an iced tea. I don’t think I will have any problem going through this tea.

drank Apricot Guayusa by Butiki Teas

I had a cup of this before and didn’t review it as I got caught up in things. I know I liked it at the time. This is my second and last cup from MissB’s sample. This tea brews up so dark and has an earthy flavour a bit like pu’erh but milder than pu-erh. I do taste the flavour that’s supposed to be apricot but I don’t know if it’s an apricot flavour to me. It’s very subtle. I am enjoying this cup of tea but not enough to want to buy it.

As the tea cools down I am tasting the apricot more. Definitely much better as it cools so I’m bumping up my rating.

MissB

Ah, glad you were able to knock one off the list. :)

Still got lots to go through! lol

I picked this up today at a Japanese/Korean market. I think I found my new morning tea! The package said to throw boiling water and steep for 30 seconds. It’s a nice light green tea with roasted brown rice flavour. Very grassy tea. I really like it and that’s good because I got loads of it. 400g for only 3.99.

drank Chestnut by Adagio Teas

Wow, this smelled so good in the bag and brewed. Then I tasted it. Hmm good but a little off (kinda like a lot of people here said in their tasting notes). Yes, the chestnut flavour is done nicely. Was it the tea base? I don’t know. I tried sweetening it up a bit but it didn’t make any difference. Not leaving a rating at this time as I’m just not sure about this tea. Will have to try it again with a shorter steep time.

drank Grapefruit Dragon by Butiki Teas

I think this is one of the teas I saw in MissB’s collection and wanted to try. Well now I get to try it , thanks to Miss B’s mystery pack. The grapefruit flavour and the tea go together perfectly in this tea. The tea is such a nice light vegetal green. The grapefruit flavour is light too. Every mouthful is perfection. Gotta get me some more of this tea!!!!!

Oh, yay! I’m so glad this worked for you. It’s really lovely.

It was perfection. This tea alone would make me want to order from Butiki Teas. Thanks for the sample!

I am glad I got this tea from Tealux. Having my tea, I checked out other reviews and was surprised it didn’t get a higher rating. I guess it really depends on what we like. Since greens , whites, and oolongs are my favs then it makes sense I would love this tea. I do have to agree there’s nothing so far that makes this stand out from other high quality green teas but it is still a great green tea and one I would restock! I didn’t pick up any bitter taste. It seemed to have a faint buttery flavour with the vegetal. Perhaps my taste buds are not quite as refined as some of the others here since I sometimes have trouble discerning very faint flavours and scents. However, I do know I like this tea and could sip it all morning.

drank Bamboo-Pomelo by TeaGschwendner

I thought this tea would have some green or white tea in it but it doesn’t. The main base is bamboo. I’ve never had a bamboo tea before and it smelled delicious in the bag. Brewed up the aroma reminds me of another tea I’ve had before (probably from Tealux but couldn’t place it). I think it was the combo of lemongrass and blackberry leaves. I could taste a bit of the lemongrass with a spicy edge to it (i’m thinking that’s the blackberry leaves) and a bit of sweetness. There was a nice pear/apple finish taste. So I’m still not sure what bamboo tastes like or if I’m picking it up the tea and don’t know which one is the bamboo. This tea is delicious and an extra bonus is it’s caffeine free. Another choice for an evening tea.

I just tried that stuff over this past weekend, what a neat little tisane!

Yes, too bad it’s a German tea. It must cost a fortune to ship.

MissB

It’s German, however they have a store or two in the US. I think it’s $7 for shipping if you order less than $50 or something, free otherwise? I’ve loved almost everything I’ve grabbed from them, however it’s all 50g or more… and thus why I send out a lot of their stuff for folks to try and see.

This is one of my favorite teas, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

Ubacat

I didn’t know that. They do have some interesting blends on their website. I’ll have to keep that in mind for future orders. Thanks for putting the sample in the package. I’m so glad I got to try it!

Picked up this tea the other day at the Metro store which has loads of different teas. This one sounded good but it’s in tea bags. When I opened it the orange smell hit my nose but not in a good way. It was sharp. Brewed up , I used 175 temperature water. The white tea is ….not the best I’ve had. It brews up dark and it does not have that mild delicate flavour that loose tea does. It is a stronger white tea. The orange flavour tastes artificial . Overall this is a crappy tea compared to some of the loose leaf white teas out there. For a bagged tea, it still is not great; but definitely not horrible. It is drinkable. Why am I so pulled in by fancy packaging? The box looked cute. The combo of white tea with orange sounded enticing. So here again I have bought a tea when I don’t need it and on top of that , it’s a bad tea. I think I do need TDA (Tea Drinkers Anonymous)

Got this sample from MissB. When I smelled the tea dry I picked up some floral notes but I didn’t know it was jasmine (until I logged in here and saw it was jasmine). Brewed up it’s quite a strong green tea with a slight bitterness to it. I do pick up a faint jasmine flavour in the tea but it seems a bit off. Definitely floral but jasmine? I am having trouble putting it in words. Until I saw it was a jasmine green tea, I wouldn’t have taken it for one. As I drink down my cup the bitterness becomes stronger. When I have this again, I will try brewing a smaller amount with less steep time to see if there is a difference.

I’ve yet to try this one… for whatever reason it feels like less than jasmine to me as well, and likely why I didn’t go for it yet. I hope your second try is more positive!

MissB

… or at least more enjoyable. :)

Ubacat

Maybe I’ll give it a try soon. Sometimes it’s the brewing time and temperature that can make a big difference.

Green teas are my favourite teas but I also enjoy: white, some herbal, rooibos, raw pu’erh, light oolongs, a little bit of black , and a little bit of ripe pu’erh. I have moved away from artificial flavourings and there’s hardly anything left in my cabinet with artificial flavouring or colours. It is mostly straight teas or tea blends.
