188 Tasting Notes
My order from 52teas came yesterday! I’m so excited! I don’t have to ration my tiny samples anymore. :) I really love this tea. Nice roasted flavor that isn’t overpowering, subtly sweet and cinnamony. Mmmm!
Frank, if you’re reading this..out of curiosity, are the flavors used in this tea vegan? I think I read somewhere that they are unless otherwise indicated, but I was just wondering.
This is very nice, but not quite as strongly flavored as I had hoped. I haven’t had it with sugar yet, though, only with a bit of soymilk, so I might bump up the rating when I try it again later. The creamy custard taste is definitely there, but the strawberry seems like more of an afterthought that adds a subtle sweetness.
Wow..! This was an unexpected hit! The overall effect is definitely right on – I think I like this better than the real thing (I don’t love raisins in my bread due to the texture). My favorite part is the subtle toasted flavor combined with the sweetness of the cinnamon and raisin. I can’t really taste the raisin flavor by itself, but I think it does come through in the finished effect. Love it!
This was a first for me – I’d never had maté before! In this blend, I’m still not really sure what mate tastes like, but it doesn’t seem bad. I am sort of afraid of the caffeine content, though! I can tolerate a couple cups of black tea spread over the day, but I never drink coffee so I’m not used to large amounts of caffeine at one time. Anyone know how much caffeine maté generally has? Anyway, I only made half a cup and mostly tasted the chocolate. Not too bad, but nothing special.
Hmm, I actually quite like this one. I’m not really into green teas, but the name “emerald lily” and the description of this one really caught my eye. With the big, long, curly leaves, I was concerned I didn’t have enough leaf – but now I’m wondering if I’ve been preparing some other greens too strong? I have some Dragonwell that sort of freaked me out with the super strong fruit and veggie flavors, but maybe it was just too much leaf!
Anyhow, this is subtle and lovely with a mild fruity and flowery flavor. I’m not sure that I’m getting toasted pine nut..but..maybe. :)
