1118 Tasting Notes

Oh, this is lovely. If I pay attention I can pick out the different herbs, but I’d rather jut sip and enjoy. It’s so fragrant, and I like the way the ginger makes it’s presence known after a few sips. This is a tisane I could sip all day long and not tire of. Not a bad idea now that I think of it….

drank Gooey Butter Cake by 52teas
1118 tasting notes

Hmmm, so I did not taste gooey butter cake with this tea. Instead, I tasted lemon pound cake. It threw me for a loop at first, but I really, really like it. Every now and then there will be a floral overtone to the sip which is also very nice. I guess that would be the marigold. I like. More of the cake/butter flavors come out as the tea cools. It’s nice, but I think I like it the most when the lemon is a bit more present.

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons
1118 tasting notes

I went to Target to pick up a few things and saw that they’ve started carrying H&S teas. Yay! They only sell the pyramid bags, no loose leaf, but still! I thought about grabbing one of each tin (there were eight different teas in stock), but my husband would be less than thrilled with me, so I choose the Vanilla Comoro. I plan on going back and picking up a new tin each week.

This tea is good. Really good. Real vanilla taste, great tea base, and it’s decaffeinated. What’s not to love? I can see this being a go-to tea for me in the evening, and I’ll make sure I have it on hand to offer the next time I have company over for dinner.

woa whaaat, target? no way. (noted as well)

Veronica

I know. I was walking past the aisle, saw the tins out of the corner of my eye, and stopped in my tracks. I may have done a happy dance in the middle of the store. :)

drank Very Raspberry by Teajo Teas
1118 tasting notes

I received this sample from teajo teas. Thank you!

If you like raspberry you will like this tea. Teajo does a wonderful job creating fruit flavored teas that actually taste like the fruit they’re supposed to taste like. This tea doesn’t taste like raspberry syrup or raspberry Kool Aid or raspberry candy. It taste like raspberry. And tea. I don’t know what tea base Teajo uses, but it’s good!

I drank one cup of this plain and one cup with sugar. Both cups were enjoyable. I liked the tartness of the tea when it’s plain, but a little sugar really brings out the fruit flavor.

My daughter will be home from school in a few minutes, and I’m looking forward to sharing this tea with her. It seems like something that would be right up her alley. :)

drank Ice Wine Tea by Design a Tea
1118 tasting notes

This is so good! I received it as a sample from Design a Tea, and while I was wary of it (Iced wine? Tea? Really?) I am so glad I tried it. It’s delicious! The tea is mellow with the pear flavor moving around as you sip. It’s sweet and relaxing. I think this would be perfect to serve at a tea party. Today I had it hot, but I’m going to have to pick up some more so that I can try it iced.

Thank you Design a Tea for the sample!

drank Juicy Peach by Teajo Teas
1118 tasting notes

Thank you Teajo Teas for this sample!

This is a lovely tea. The peach flavor is nice. It is strong, but natural. In fact, this is the first peach tea I’ve had that didn’t have an artificial taste to it, and I’m really enjoying it. The base tea is wonderful. It has a smoothness that almost makes the tea creamy. Almost. This is a tea that’s easy to enjoy sans sweetener, but I think a bit of honey might turn this into a treat in a cup. I’ll have to give it a try… you know… for science.

KeenTeaThyme

I love – and will try! – any peach tea. Adding this to my list… :)

Veronica

Ha! I was just at your site and saw Peachy Keen which is going on my list. :)

Azzrian

Yup this is a goodie! :) Love this one!

drank O' Sullivan's Favourite by Zen Tea
1118 tasting notes

Oy. After feeling like I had the black death for a few days I’m beginning to feel semi-human again. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, autumn and I do not get along. Anyway, I received several samples while I was sick, and I am excited to try them.

This is a nice Irish Breakfast. Stronger than some, but nothing too over the top. It uses tea leaves that have gone through the CTC process, so it’s difficult to pick out nuances in the tea. Still, it gives the caffeine kick I want in the morning, and there is no bitterness to be had. Just a smooth steady cup of tea. I added sugar to my second cup but ignored the milk. I did like it more with sugar, but that could be my sweet tooth talking.

Thanks Zen Tea for the sample! Trying new teas is always fun. :)

Nik

Glad you’re feeling a bit better!

In case anyone else has no idea what CTC is (I didn’t):

Thanks, Nik! I didn’t think to post a link.

drank Earl Grey Cream by Zen Tea
1118 tasting notes

Thank you Zen Tea for this sample!

This tea is fabulous. When I opened the bag I was struck by the fact that the tea smelled creamy. There was the classic Earl Grey scent, of course, but the vanilla was present in a very pleasing way. The dry leaves with the blue cornflowers are also very pretty , which I appreciated.

I really like this tea because it is well balanced. The bergamot is not over done, and the vanilla blends in with the other flavors beautifully. In the past I have stayed away from Earl Grey Creams because the vanilla usually taste fake. Not here. It is smooth, and there is no weird artificial aftertaste. Yay! Half way through the cup I added a bit of sugar which intensified both the bergamot and the vanilla a little more. I expected it to play up the vanilla, but the flavors stayed in balance. The tea is exceptionally creamy and taste like a treat. A cup of this tea, a blanket, and good mystery novel would make me a very happy girl!

Thanks again Zen Tea. Your tea is lovely!

drank Apple Pie Chai Rooibos by Wegmans
1118 tasting notes

Another tea from last night. To be honest, my hopes were not high with this one. It smelled too much like rooibos and nothing like apple or cinnamon. I made sure to put a few more apple pieces into my infuser, and I let it steep for six minutes.

The tea was sweet and pleasant, and while it tasted nothing like apple pie it was entirely drinkable. I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what it tasted like. There was just a general sweetness with the taste of the rooibos underneath.

Not my favorite, but I can see my daughter really liking it.
