1118 Tasting Notes

Tea of the morning. First, I have to say that the dry leaves are beautiful. They’re golden and fluffy, and they smell like grain and cocoa. Really nice. I did a two and a half minute steep, and the results were glorious. The tea taste of good bread, honey, and cocoa. This is a seriously nice way to wake up! There is also an incredible smoothness to the tea which lends a buttery feel and a thickness that just takes this tea over the top. As the tea cools the flavors blend a bit more, and I find myself in the sip-sigh-smile-repeat mode of tea drinking. It’s a good place to be.

Thank you Cameron B. for gifting me this tea in the Pass the Stash 2.0 box. I love it! This one’s going on my shopping list.

GLORIOUS! I’m so glad you like it, I love this one. :D

It is GLORIOUS! And even more so done gongfu style :) (Plus I got a pretty decent tea buzz off of it that way)

Sounds amazing!

From the Round 3 Here’s Hoping TTB

I took mj’s advice and cold brewed this one. It’s thick, syrupy, sweet, and super fruity. There is just a touch of bitterness at the end of the sip, but I think that’s my fault because I let it cold steep for too long (almost 24 hours!). This is a great summer tea. Makes me wish I was back at the beach with a glass of this in my hand listening to the waves.

I usually only cold steep this one in the 10-15 hour range if I remember correctly, so that might help with the bitterness :). I don’t remember getting any bitterness at all

Veronica

Honestly, I was expecting it to be undrinkable after steeping for so long, but it was only slightly bitter right at the end of the sip. Guess I lucked out. I can see how a 10 hour cold steep would be great for this tea though.

I need to set alarms for myself when I cold steep teas. I always forget them!

I just forgot one for two days but I lucked out and it was not bitter at all!

drank Masala Chai by Capital Tea Ltd.

From the Round 3 Here’s Hoping TTB

This is a nice chai, but it’s not my favoritte. The base tea is really, really good. It has body and a touch of malt. The spice blend is pretty weak though. There’s ginger and cardamon with some cinnamon. I’m sure there are other spices as well. The spice blend is so light that there were times I didn’t taste it at all. So, not the best chai, but still a nice tea.

Meh. There is a definite cider taste, but the base tea is too weak which makes the tea taste more like watered down apple juice.

This was okay. I’m not a big fan of the lavender and orange mix here, but I do like the floral notes. Usually I find citrus and floral to be a pleasant combination, but this taste more of orange oil than a true orange flavor. However, the rose and lavender notes are very nice and well balanced.

drank Pear Tea by Fauchon

From the Round 3 Here’s Hoping TTB

Yay for another good pear tea! This one has a nice juicy pear flavor, and there is a malty note, too, which kinda makes me think of a pear tart… almost. This is a fairly hefty black tea – something I’d happily drink as a breakfast tea. I think it could take on a harsh edge if over steeped, but my cup was very nice. Sweet and spot on with the pear flavor.

All I want to do is curl up and take a nap, but I have a lot of things I want to accomplish today, so I made myself a cup of this instead. It’s so delightfully yummy. The caffeine is sure to give me a boost, but the mint is also really invigorating. And the dark chocolate note… yum. Now, to get back to ripping up the flooring in my dining room….

drank Rhubarb Vanilla Ale by Butiki Teas

From the Pass the Stash TTB 2.0

This is a sweet/tart tea with a kick. I like the rhubarb flavor beside the creamy vanilla note. The ale flavor eludes me, but I’m enjoying this tea so much that I don’t mind. I think I may have picked up on the hops note as the tea cooled, but I may need a second cup just to make sure. I’m so glad this one made its way into the ttb! ;-)

I should be heading out the door right now, but I wanted to make a quick note about my morning cuppa. This is nice, and it reminds me a lot of the orange almond cookies that my favorite Chinese restaurant offers. A very fun first cup of the day!

Tea of the morning. The balance between the black tea and the blueberry flavor is nice. The berry flavor is sweet without tasting like candy, and the tea has enough body to work well as a breakfast tea. I did add half a teaspoon of sugar to my cup which brought out the berry flavor even more.
