I don’t know what to make of this tea. It smells like caramel, and it varies between tasting like nothing (no base tea, no flavor, no nothing ) and tasting like cotton candy. The difference from one sip to the next is disconcerting. I’m so confused I don’t even know how to rate it!

drank Birthday Tea by Harney & Sons

This tea reminds me of Fruity Pebbles. Remember those? They had/have (?) Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble on the front of the box. I’m not sure my kids even know who the Flintstones are!

Anyway, this tea has a very fruity notes at the start of the sip and a floral finish. There are strong berry notes, but I wouldn’t call it a berry tea. There are definite notes of apple and pear as well. The floral note is pretty basic. It’s not lavender or jasmine or rose. It’s just floral. Now that I think about it I’m impressed H&S managed to make this tea without having it taste like potpourri. It could easily have been overdone on the fruit or floral end, but the tea is well balanced. I think it would make an excellent iced tea, and I think the dark red color of the tea would look lovely in an iced tea glass.

While this isn’t my favorite decaf tea I wouldn’t pass up a cup if it were offered to me.

Lol. That’s exactly what my eleven year old said when I asked if he knew who the Flintstones were. :)

drank Maghreb Mint by Rishi Tea

I didn’t pay super close attention to this tea while I was drinking it because I was reading other people’s tea notes while sipping. What I can say is this is good and fairly spicy. It reminds me a lot of DT’s North African Mint. Also, this tea sweetened with a teaspoon of sugar is excellent with Smartfood’s White Cheddar Popcorn. Seriously good.

The directions said to steep in boiling water, but I waited a few minuets for the water to cool since there is green tea in the blend. I think steeping in boiling water would cause the tea to go bitter fairly quickly.

Huh… I’m not getting any berry from this. I just get generic sweetness. I thought about adding a little sugar to see if that would bring the berry flavor out, but this tea is pretty sweet on its own. I’d have no problem drinking this if someone gave me a cup, but if we played a guess-the-name-of-this-tea game I’d lose.

Minecraft is a big, big thing at our house. Creepers and Skeletons and Endermen, oh my! So, when I saw this tea in the tea box I knew I had to try it. I have to say that the combination of Gunpowder, Hojicha, and Kukicha made a tea that looks very creeper-esque.

This is not a subtle tea. As far as green teas go this one has kick which I guess is appropriate since creepers explode when they get close to you. The scent is roasty and lightly smokey. I was actually expecting much more smoke from this tea, but it’s fairly light. The taste is like dry hay. In fact, as soon as I sipped this it reminded me of walking in my grandpa’s hay field. My grandpa lives in Mississippi, and the hay during August smells hot, dry, and toasty. If you grab a piece and bite it there is a sweetness to it. That is this tea. The roasty flavor from the Hojicha comes through at the beginning of the sip. The end has a soft sweetness that almost seems out of place, but at the same time it’s really nice. I’m not sure if my particular cup didn’t have a lot of the Gunpowder green in it, but there was not a lot of smokey flavor. I do think it would work well in this tea, and if I have another cup I’ll be sure to mix the tea up so I can get more smokiness in my cup.

A very nice tea. I wasn’t sure this would be something I’d like, but it was thoroughly enjoyable, and I love the memories it brought back as I drank it. Tea is awesome like that.

drank Turtle Cheesecake by 52teas

This is pretty good! The taste is mostly caramel followed by chocolate with some nuttiness popping in here and there. I don’t get cheesecake. After adding some sugar and milk the caramel really shines, but the flavor from the nuts is gone. Still no notes that remind me of cheesecake.

No doubt that this is a good dessert tea. I would have loved to have tasted something hinting at cheesecake, but I had no problem sipping on a caramel, chocolate, pecan flavored tea!

That one sounds excellent!

It is! I love participating in traveling tea boxes because I get to try teas I would not order for myself. :)

I actually had this cup yesterday, but I got distracted and forgot to write a tasting note. Toffee, chocolate and hazelnut – What’s not to love? All of the flavors blended very well to create a sweet dessert-y drink with the hazelnut lingering after the sip. I didn’t try too hard to pick out each individual flavor since the combination works so well. I did get some bitterness as the tea cooled, but there wasn’t much left in my cup at that point, so it didn’t bother me. The very last sip was all chocolate. Deep, dark, it took me by surprise chocolate. Super yummy and a tea I’d consider ordering.

drank Sweet Orange Spice by Tea Forte

So this should be called Sweet Cinnamon instead of Sweet Orange, but I still like it. The smell reminds me of Christmas and is unmistakably cinnamon. In fact, this tea reminds me a lot of Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice although there is less clove here. The base tea is strong and carries the spice flavor well. Nice.

I can see how this would be disappointing to people who wanted orange but are not big on strong cinnamon teas, but since I love cinnamon teas this is just a happy turn of events. I might snag one more teaspoon of it before moving on to the other teas in the box.

Meh. I get some pomegranate at the end of the sip, but I get more raspberry flavor over all. The black tea base is generic. I can’t pick up any true flavor from it although I thought I smelled something a bit bread-y. That could be wishful thinking on my part.

I’m glad I gave this one a try, but unfortunately this is one of those easily forgettable teas.

Last tea of the night. I wanted something to curb my sweet tooth so I wouldn’t dive into the kids’ Easter candy. This did the trick. A great vanilla flavor and I’ll be able to sleep.
