Charcoal-baked Dong Ding Oolong Tea from FONG MONG TEA
81

I’d like to thank Fong Mong Teas for sending me this sample!

I’m not a big fan of greens and oolongs, so I was not really sure about this one at first. I added a hint of sugar since the initial taste was a bit too strong for me. But then it got better – I could feel a nice bouquet of flavors – mint, floral hints and a decent strong roasty base.

This tea leaves an interesting tingling sensation in the mouth which I like very much, reminds me of mint candies. But the best thing about this one is the base. It’s deep and solid and is filling the whole spectrum of taste, so to say.

Overall, it’s not the best one I’ve tried, but it is definitely good and the mint-y hint is a really great touch to the taste.

Hazelnut from Adagio Teas

Made this one for my whole family today. Everyone was impressed and really curious about how in the earth are nutty teas even possible :) A good evening it was

I personally tried it with milk this time and I have to say, I liked it more without milk. It doesn’t have enough nutiness to carry it brightly through the creaminess of the milk. However, I’m not saying it was bad, it was just not as nutty as I expected but overall, a great experience!

Hazelnut Chai from Zhena's Gypsy Tea
98

This is the second tea that Will Work For Tea was so kind to send me as a sample!

As soon as I opened the bag I was blown away by the heavy smell – thick and dense, really heavy on the nuts. I expected some rough pepper-y smell, but it surprised me with a creamy sensation. So it was a great surprise, smells delightful and reminds me of Christmas somehow :)

I steeped it for 4 minutes to get more of that taste out in the cup. For the first cup I used bit of sugar and it was great. Really great taste, filling all corners of the mouth and leaving a nice tingling sensation in the end. But super-creamy and soft.

For the second cup I used milk, and it was even more great. I’m not a big fan of dairy products in my tea, but this one was outstanding. Usually I enjoy a cookie or some other sweets with my tea, but it was so good that it was a meal itself :)

Overall, this tea is really great, an unexpected mix of spicy and creamy. And my room and kitchen did smell of spicy nuts for at least 3 hours after steeping. Amazing tea, I will be looking forward to buying this.

Again, I have to thank Will Work For Tea for this great sample!

This is the first tea from the sample pack that was sent to me by Will Work For Tea!

The smell was great, I loved it instantly. The nuts are very “present” in the smell, but not dominating the whole picture.

I was so exited about this that I almost oversteeped it, but it turned out I held it only for 30 or so more seconds than I wanted. Good luck for me :)

The taste was very, very mild, really creamy and dessert-y. I added a hint of sugar, will try it with milk next time! Overall, one of the best dessert teas I’ve drank, a really good one for evenings with a book or some good music.

Pure Black from Cha Teas
91

I’ve been drinking this one all day long and it’s evening now and it’s really hot, so I decided to try it iced. Haven’t tried an iced tea in a long time, so this was a refreshing experience for me. And I must say, this one works great when iced.

I added some lemon slices and sugar. Tastes great, really bright, cheers me up in the pre-exam evening!

Pure Black from Cha Teas

Sometimes I get lazy, so I just steep a few tea bags in a pot.

Pure Black by Cha Teas is a great black tea, without any other aromas or tastes, just pure black goodness. Sometimes I can feel a slight hint of bergamot, but it’s a very tiny nice note in the overall base flavor. The tea has a very strong and bright taste, even a little rough and roasty.

I like this one for long periods of work when I don’t want to be distracted by any complex flavors or tastes but still want to drink tea. Also it is great to use as a base for different mixes and herbal/fruit additions. I personally like to throw some dehydrated blueberries into the pot to give a sweet aftertaste/

I’ve never been a fan of green teas, but this one got my attention. I think it’s never too late to give a tea a second chance.

Well, basically it’s a good green tea with some strong green base flavor. A little bit too grassy and herbal for me, though. I’m not a fan of grassy teas at all, so it wasn’t a pleasant surprise for me. But still, I managed to enjoy this one a lot, but I won’t be drinking this one soon, still need some time to get used to grassy things.

Greeting Pine from Heuschen & Schrouff

Pretty decent Jasmine tea, but for me it smells and tastes a little bit too grassy.

One nice tip I can give is putting some sugar, maybe like 1-1.5 tsp. It evens out the grassy taste and makes everything else much better. But then it doesn’t feel god on it’s own, so you should have a cookie or something else you like.

I know, this sounds like heresy, but it’s the way it works for me. And I like doing this from time to time ;)

1001 Nights from Mabroc

An amazing and unique tea. At least from those that I’ve tried.

First, the smell. A very mellow fruity smell with a few stronger notes.

The taste differs even from sip to sip. It has a berry-like sweet side, which is relaxing and calm. But sometimes you can feel something a bit more sour, which adds some hints of citrus.

Overall, a great tea for calm evenings or to drink while reading a book. And the smell is so wonderful that I often smell it too much and the tea becomes cold :)

A tip : it is very easy to oversteep it, so keep the steeping time below 3 minutes, otherwise it may become bitter.
