Living in France, I didn’t even know we had such thing as a French Breakfast Tea, unless it’s made from coffee beans :D But I see quite a few references with this name on steepster, so it must exist. This was a Christmas present, along with my beloved Thé à l’Opera and a rooibos tin.

To the point then. The scent is present, not stong, and it is very pleasant. It smells like the cake we make in eastern Europe for some occasions, which is plain cake with a swirl of a walnut and chocolate paste.. quite a gourmand scent I’d say.

Now this is a light tea, not exactly what I need for breakfast before rushing to the office (I’ll stick with Irish tea + milk here).
It’s more of a spring-vacation-when-you-have-nothing-to-do-but-take-your-time-and-dream-of-beautiful-things,- wearing-L’heure bleue- and-waiting-for-prince-charming-to-come breakfast tea.
I’d definitely have this tea the morning in a café, looking at the sun rise, people going by and just enjoy the day.

Not my usual mornings.

Smells (nicely) like a coconut biscuit, a hint of vanilla and maybe some choco chips. But coconut mostly.

As for the taste, almost none, both tea and coconut are barely present. Quite disappointing. Milk and sugar next time to save the game?

It smells as promised, spicy hot chocolate. But from my experience, if you want hot chocolate, you drink hot chocolate. (Of course I know not everybody can, and this yogi tea is not a bad substitute, but still.)

The important part of the name, is “aztec spice” rather than “choco”. The taste is spoiled for me by the cinammon and liquorice – which I don’t like when infused, and they’re taking over the cacao notes here. It feels like a light, light version of a chai tea, without the tea, and with a bit of chocolate. Without the name “choco”, it’s actually nice to drink :)

I wouldn’t have the idea of adding milk/sugar to a tisane, but now that I read other comments, I’ll definitely try.

I got a sample tin of this after having “afternoon tea” – with scones and cake – in Glasgow last week.

The smell is fantastic, real bergamot instead of some undetermined citrus.. it is very fragrant too, I just have to open the caddy to fill the air around me.
Once infused however, it is very light black tea – a bit too light for my taste – although the bergamot flavour is still nicely present. Could have been my holy grail earl grey, if only the tea base was better and stronger (not faster though).

My first milky wu-long and I’m really not sure what I should get.

First attempt yesterday, I used way to much tea (used my teaspoon for measure but left the leaves free in the cup), the result was excessively bitter. But it is very impressive to see those pearls unfold into ig leaves.

Second attempt today, used 4-5 pearls but with too much water I think. While I can smell the different aromas, it feels diluted, I’ll try the second infusion with less water.
Scent and taste are pleasant, buttery and floral.

I’m looking forward to compare with other milky wu longs !

I decided to start discovering tea with what I have at home, where I have to be, writing my thesis. While I am familiar with different types of black or green tea, I only had oolong once before, so this is the perfect time.

The colour is surprisingly (to me) clear, almost like a white tea, the smell is delicate while present and definitely nutty. The taste is not too strong either and it develops nicely after a few seconds.

Several people told me in the past they don’t like tea, because it’s like “drinking hot water”. I am pretty sure they wouldn’t like this one at all, but I’ll try it again, maybe with more tea or longer steep time.

Hum while reading comments on other Tie Guan Yins, I found out you have to steep it several times, I had no idea, on the pack they only say “5-7’”.. learning every day !
