drank S'mores Genmaicha by 52teas
52 tasting notes

This came to me courtesy of Moraiwe during my first ever swap! I was very excited to see it in the package and could not wait to try it. I had the CF TTB at the time though and was eager to get through my choices there and get it on its merry little way and sadly this had to take a back-burner. This is not what I expected it to be. Quite good but I don’t get s’mores from it at all. I get wood and some smoke but no chocolate, no graham cracker, no marshmallow. This is a tasty genmaicha but s’mores it is not. Thanks for letting me try it though, Moraiwe!

Ah, this warmed me right up this morning. It’s pretty sweet but that suits me just fine. It went well with breakfast and was just a nice little pick-me-up on a crappy, snowy Monday morning. Hope everyone enjoys their day (I’ve got a concert tonight so I know I will!) and stays safe, especially those impacted by the winter storm.

drank Decaf Muscat by Lupicia

This is pretty freaking awesome! I’m totally digging this tea. I feel like I’ve already taken too much from the TTB but I’m not sure I can let this one go. I didn’t know what to expect but it certainly wasn’t this. Artificial grape flavoring literally makes me sick. When we moved out of my childhood home, my mother found all my stashes of the children’s grape Tylenol she had given me when I was sick that I simply wouldn’t take because I couldn’t stand the flavor. Now, I’m a big wine person and my husband is a sommelier so we know our way around some grapes. This tea doesn’t taste like artificial grape flavoring (disclaimer- I dunno if it is or not.) It tastes like actual grapes. And I am one happy girl. YUM!

Flavors: Grapes

If I had wanted hot water, I would have consumed hot water, you guys. I wanted tea! As it was, the best part about this water that should have been tea was eating the (albeit delicious!) little fruity bits out of my infuser.

drank Pina Colada Honeybush by 52teas

Glad to see that I like this Honeybush better than the last one I had. I was slightly worried that I may not like any of that type but this one is awesome! Really enjoying the coconut and rum flavors. I’m not really getting the pineapple but that’s ok. I might just keep this one from the Caffeine Free TTB. We’ll have to wait and see.

drank Spiced Apple Cider by Teavana

Not a lot of flavor in this one. I find that to be the case for me when consuming apple teas though. I want a lot of flavor and the apple never delivers. Back in the Caffeine Free TTB you go, little fella.

drank Decaf Mango by Adagio Teas
52 tasting notes

The dry leaf smells like mango, the liquor smells like maple syrup and the tea tastes like mango. What a strange tea this is. From the Caffeine Free TTB, back it goes to please the palates of my fellow box recipients.

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Pretty astringent near the end of the cup, but I get that with a lot of Adagio’s blacks. Is it just me??

Having fun with the box, I see. :) I’m glad you had better luck with this one because I didn’t taste the mango at all.

A re-steep of this proved not-at-all bitter since I watched my time more closely. Unfortunately, all the vanilla has gone out of it. Le Sigh. There’s still the base though, so there’s that.

I oversteeped this so it’s my fault it’s so bitter. Otherwise, a very nice tea. Smooth vanilla flavor and a thick base. Pretty tasty!

Profile

Bio

Hi! I am a 23 year old Special Education major working two jobs, one that pays the bills and one (at a winery!) that funds my wine and tea obsessions. I’m a super huge nerd. My dad cut my teeth on comics, Star Wars and Studio Ghibli and my brother introduced me to indie music and Game of Thrones (books and show.) My husband took over from there with LotR and Firefly and we’ve since discovered Terra Nova, Star Trek: TNG, and pretty much everything good Netflix has to offer!
I’m still pretty new to tea, adding too much sugar, I’m sure. I just recently tried loose leaf at home for the first time. I was always rather intimidated by it and since trying it, I don’t know why. It’s really pretty simple! Being new, all I have is Teavana (a store opened up in a local mall) and only 2 types from there. I would really like to expand my tastes. I don’t like florality in my wine and I don’t care for it in my tea either. Pretty much any thing else is fair game. I’ve lurked here for a little while and I’m really excited to be a part of what seems to be a very open and welcoming community. Hoping to get to know you better! Cheers!
