76 Tasting Notes
I find myself coming back to this tea frequently, and I don’t know why (maybe because it’s delicious)! When I had my first cup of Checkmate I was sort of like “meh”. Not bad, but not terribly memorable. However, I find myself continually reaching for it, and it just gets better and better each time I have a cup.
I am noting that with most DavidsTEA blends, this one included, that taking the time to make sure you have all of the various ingredients included in your steeper in equal ratios makes all the difference. I think with my first cup or two I was just getting too much black tea. After taking an extra minute or so and making sure there is enough white and chamomile hunks, the tea is much more balanced and makes for a tastier sip.
Seriously? I’m pretty sure some sort of sorcerer made this thing. I made a cup of tea yesterday at 9 AM.. put it in here.. forgot about it. At 3 PM, I remember it.. take it out and take a sip.. still HOT. Like, almost just as hot as it was at 9 AM. Incredible.
The only thing I took points off for is the basket. I almost never use it.. it’s just not big enough, and I wish the bottom was mesh as well instead of solid plastic.
Wow. I had this with breakfast this morning.. a cup of Cinnamon Bun tea with a plain scone. It was a match made in heaven. I am a huge fan of this tea.. strong enough, smooth, just spicy enough. Very true to it’s name.. it was like drinking a cinnamon bun. I will definitely be purchasing more once my 1 oz package runs out.
This is seriously delicious. I’m finding that the Adagio teas are either a hit or miss, and this is a hit for sure. Slightly spicy on the tongue.. REALLY love the lemongrass and ginger notes. I have only sipped this straight so far, but I like the idea of maybe adding a little coconut milk. Will have to try that next time.
