A big thank you to ScottTeaMan for sending me this one to try!

When I first opened the envelope I was surprised at how much this looks like a yellow tea I tried from Upton a while back. The leaves are certainly not as green as they are in the photo.

I tried to follow the steeping parameters accurately – 1 1/2 tsp @ 3 minutes in infuser mug.

It was kind of fun to watch a few of my leaves open up. This is a very light infusion for a green tea and definitely more on the delicate side with a nice sweetness in the finish. I’m getting a bit of a corn husk flavor. This is enjoyable and very nice for the afternoon although my personal preference is for a green tea with a lot more heft and body. I don’t think I would buy it for myself after trying it, but it’s good!

This was fun to try and I will definitely save the rest of it for another quiet moment in the afternoon where it seems very appropriate. Very relaxing for a green tea.

They are a darker green to the eye. I also piced up on the corn notes. I think my favorite pre-chinming tea I’ve sampled so far is the Black one-Monkey Pekoe. :))

ScottTeaMan

The pre chingming I’m refering to is Golden Pekoe. Anyhoo…….I’m glad you liked Jade Buds.

Amy, so far, I really like the Pre-chingming teas, but they are even more expensive this year (ok, maybe a few samples, but nothing more). There are too many other teas I want to try.

TeaBrat

Scott, do you order some pre-chingming teas ever year? The ones you sent me have been pretty interesting so far but I’m not sure it’s a category I will really get into.

ScottTeaMan

These were my first pre-chingming’s, and 2011 is the first year Upton has stocked them. I would like to order some 2012 samples (just a few). They have some really nice selections (& more of them) this year.

I don’t think I’d order alot of these pre-cm’s in the future……. I’d rather order some good Shincha from Japan to be honest. :))
