2816 Tasting Notes
First of all, many thanks to *Tea Equals Bliss" for sending some of this my way!
I steeped about 1 tsp. of this in my infuser mug for about 3 minutes. I got a very light orangish-tan tea liquor with some lovely peach and light muscatel notes. I am detecting a bit of spice here in the cup as well. Very smooth and mild cuppa. I might move onto something darker soon after this; yes it is still cold and foggy here while the rest of the country is roasting!
Thanks to T=B for sharing!
Preparation
This teabag came as a free sample in one of my recent Lupicia newsletters.
I love art, so I was really into the name of this one! After I realized it was predominately a darjeeling blend, I do wish I had steeped it at a somewhat lower temperature than boiling.
I got a dark brownish-red tea liquor in my cup. There is definitely a lot of second flush darjeeling going on here, and another element which I am guessing is an assam? It has a very woodsy and spicy element in the cup. Sipping on it plain wasn’t too bad at all, but it was also nice with a touch of soymilk. Overall, not bad, but I don’t think I need any more.
Preparation
I picked this herbal tisane up at Whole Foods a couple of weeks ago but am just getting around to trying it now.
I really like the flavor here and it seems very relaxing – the only downside for me is it’s very minty and peppermint gives me acid reflux sometimes. I like the chamomile, the licorice and the lemon balm. It seems very well balanced and refreshing. I’m not sure I would buy it again due to the strong peppermint flavor but otherwise it’s very enjoyable and will hopefully bring the Sandman by soon. :)
Preparation
Thanks to Phoenix Tea Shop for sending me this sample. I finished it off today but I can’t say there was anything totally remarkable about it. Not rating it because I still don’t know if my tastebuds are feeling all too perky and back to normal. :((
Uggggghhhhh!!!! Did this happen when I was away on my meditation retreat? Well, my friend, I recently ended a relationship of 10 years… these things can be difficult. I highly recommend a book called “storms can’t hurt the sky”. I think, knowing a little about you, that you would value the book. I recommend it to a lot of people in my massage practice and friends. They have all come away with it with great things to say. I don’t call ’em relation"trips" for nothing!
I wish you nothing but joy. Had you been together for long? Not that it really matters cause it can be hard breaking up after a week as well as 10 years :)
Yeah, it must have been. Wow, 10 years is a long time, we were together for 3 but I’m still broken up about it. I’ll check out the book, thanks! I’ve been doing a ton of dharma activities too.
S.F. Boyfriend Brokeup Funk Blues…in the Fog! More than the Tastebuds…blech…I think you need to have champagne on a yacht in the South of France! I wish you could feel better!
What I really want you to do is really take care of yourself right now and you are right on with the dharma activities. LOVE LOVE LOVE yourself! There is nothing selfish about that. Feel it all and know that you have the STUFF to go on from this and rock and roll.
And Pema Chodron, too! She is fantastic when it comes to this sort of thing. Podcasts of Tara Brach are really amazing. They are free and she is an amazing teacher.
Amy! I will check that out! I love to surround myself with positive vibes and reminders all day long. Helps me stay open and clear! Thank you for that!
Oh Amy! I’m so sorry! I broke up with my 6 year boyfriend and it was a tough time. In retrospect, I am happy I went through it. It made me a stonger person and made me appreciate myself a bit more. It is tough… I wish you the best and remember that you have abunch of tea drinking friends that are always here for you (and your taste buds!). :)
I’ve been curious about this tea for a while and I got to try it yesterday at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. I’m glad I didn’t bother to buy any myself. Unfortunately, it just reminded me of cough syrup and I didn’t even finish the cup I was drinking. Sorry to neg you, Republic of Tea but this was barfy.
Preparation
This is one of my favorite Ceylon teas of all times, so rich and chocolat-ey! I am enjoying it on this cool, foggy morning.
Yesterday I went to a writing/meditation workshop and some interesting things came out of that, overall a very positive experience!
Preparation
Tea is kinda reassuring on cool, gloomy days. Not that I’ll know a cool, gloomy day til October or November.
Good to hear your workshop went well :)
It was a little daunting because I had to write about what I would do if I had 30 days left on this Earth. Kind of difficult to face given what I’ve been dealing with lately.
Thank you to Indigobloom for sending me a sample of this tea!
I had dinner tonight with a friend at Herbivore and got the chick*n mole with rice and beans and an iced tea. I wanted to get some reading done but I’m sooo tired for some reason. I thought this might perk me up.
A lot of people seemed not to like this too much but I like it fairly well. It seems more like a dessert tea than an actual chai, however. The black tea base seems kind of sweet and I am getting a lot of vanilla here as well as the creamy coconut There’s a touch of ginger in there somewhere. I did add some soymilk to mine but I prepared it the old fashioned way, in the For Life teapot.
Preparation
I usually have chais as a dessert tea anyway, so this would be fine by me.
Herbivore’s menu looks awesome-so nice to be able to order anything you want without having to ask lots of questions! I probably couldn’t even decide what to order. Do you ever go to Millenium?
@ScottB- I didn’t see your question until just now. Yes, I have been to Millenium quite a few times but it is much more posh and pricey than Herbivore. I was at Herbivore today and got the scrambled tofu – good times!
Tea of the afternoon here, I am enjoying the floral and fruity nature of this one. Been drinking a lot of darjeeling today – you got a problem with that? ;-)
