It is a gray and rainy day here in Eastern North Carolina, though not cold. Still – some comfort food was in order. We baked a loaf of fresh whole wheat bread (made from freshly ground wheat!) and set out jams, butter, and apple butter from the NC mountains. Ah yes! My Golden dear did not let me down! Two cups made the afternoon pass smoothly with the rich honeyed taste, light and delicate flavor, and caramel-y mouth feel. Ahhhhh…..
