The bergamot is fresh and juicy – it made my tastebuds do a little happy dance. Oddly enough, about half way through my mug it started reminded me of a chocolate orange. Not at all a bad thing but certainly unexpected. Added a little sugar and milk and this is a super EG breakfast tea. Mmm.

oOTeaOo, I haven’t tried a ton of straight EGs – mostly variations… Adagio’s EG Bravo, SpecialTea’s EG Fine (I think it is) and some variations and some Mariage Freres’ variations, and a sip of Rishi’s straight EG. The little bit of Rishi’s is probably the freshest and best tasting one for me and this one rates just below Rishi’s for me. ST’s EG de la Creme & MF’s Ruschka black are also favorites. And that might have been much more in depth than what you were looking for. Oops!
I haven’t had Samovar’s EG straight but it is lovely in Scarlet Sable (at least, I’m pretty sure that’s what in there). I don’t typically have much love for EGs (preferring the softer Lady EG-like ones) but with this one and Rishi’s I’m kind of thinking it is mostly because of the EGs I’ve met because I do like this one a lot. It strikes me as very relalistic/natural/juicy tasting instead of fake/perfume-y/nasty. There are some icky EGs out there!!!
