I totally had to cold-steep this bad boy!

Apricot Cheesecake came out a bit sweeter and brigther and that cheeseycake twang is prominent as well. I can also make out the white tea base more. Of course, more refreshing. Mmmmm refreshing cheesecake. The hot version has a nicer smell to it and the apricot is more mellow.

I’m not sure whether I like Apricot Cheesecake coldsteeped or hot! I drank both temperatures in record time! Try both and see what you like best!

WTH! Okay, I like this tea hot – it has a nice grapefruit citrus zip to it and a lovely fruity sweetness. I gave it a 90/100

Cold Steeped…. dang. Tastes EXACTLY like that cheap citrus bubblegum that you chewed on for too long. I drank 1/3 of it and I couldn’t pour it out fast enough! Heck do I rate this now? ehh, I’ll bump it down to an 80/100.

Very odd, I never rated this tea? Well that sucks!

I had made this tea cold-steeped – 4 hours.

TASTE: Slightly creamy walnut juice – DONE! Okay okay, also has a hint of sweetness with a background of green tea. No bitterness or tart. Very walnutty and the coconut creamyness go together nicely. I can almost taste the walnut skin. I love walnuts, they look like brains.

COMMENTS: Okay, I don’t like sencha because for awhile people kept giving me sencha fruity teas and I just got sick how they all tasted the same and the tea just came out too strong. Toasted Walnut isn’t like that – the green tea came out wonderful in the cold steep.
Come on, coconut water being really popular? How about walnut juice, yeh!

From what I can recall, hot this tea is more sweet but not as nutty, but I think cold is more interesting with that strong walnut flavor. I could see myself buying more, that or go on a hunt for more walnut teas.

My pomegranate tree is exploding with lots of pomegranates, but still not ready yet! With that said, I kept thinking about this tea. Oddly, I didn’t review it yet, so here it is!

DRY: Sweet tart fruit snack smell. I gotta say this is up there on weird teas – it’s chunky, sticky and clumpy. I think I got scared when I bought this at DT and saw the sales gal scoop it. It’s got that appearance of hot rice crispy treats being spooned out of the cooking pot… but not stringy. I’m a little worried with the shelf life of this tea with it being sticky.
I tasted one of the pomegranate bits and it was tasty!

STEEPED: Pink colour – tart smell, like cranberry.

TASTE: Slight tartness comes out with a hit of fruity – a little pomegranate but could be mistaken for a light cranberry from the tartness. Sweetened with rock sugar, the fruityness is brighter and more pomegranate and less tart.

WHO’D LIKE THIS TEA: Fruity tea drinkers

COMMENTS: I’m happy that this tea has a good level of tart – it’s not overpowering and seems more natural to pomegranate. Overall, not bad but not blowing my mind – this might be good cold steeped though. I feel that I should kill off this tea before the stickyness mutates into something horrible.

OMG CHEESECAKE!
I bought this tea as soon as I saw it announced on twitter by 52teas. Cheesecake tea! YESSSS! I never tried the Earl grey cheesecake tea, but a white tea with apricot (and CHEESECAKE) seemed more up my alley.
I was waiting for my husband to take me shopping, but then this tea popped through the mail slot. Stop, delay shopping and try this tea!

DRY: Very strong sweet and fruity smell. Yum!

STEEPED: Cheescakey, almost buttery smell with fruityness. Lots of chunks of fruit in this tea. As always, I fished a chunk out and it was amazing strong apricot! Mmmm freeze dried apricot! Colour is a yellow gold.

TASTE: Interestingly, some sips I find it to be white tea and fruity apricot. Other sips I swear its a liquid cheesecake, a slight twang of that sweet cheese taste of cheesecake. It might be the cheesecake taste is being carried mostly by smell, with the tea being a lovely white tea mixed with apricot. As the tea cools, the apricot becomes more of a brighter taste. No bitterness or tartness.

WHO’D EAT THIS TEA: White tea fruity drinkers (blow yer pants right off!) and peeps like me who are depriving themselves of cheesecake for diet reasons /cry

COMMENTS: CHEEEEEEESECAKE! All I need for this tea to be perfect is a tea burp of graham crust flavor and more creamyness. I’m happy with the use of freeze dried fruit, it goes over better than those typical sticky tart dried apricots.

Now I wish I tried some of the other 52 teas cheesecakes teas to compare, but I put myself on a “No buy” for awhile.

Overall, this has got to be the best 52 teas I tried so far, though I’ve only tried 6 to date.

Cold steeped Coconut Cacao! One of my more weirder cold steeps so far!

Very very coconutty, like real coconut taste. Chocolate is in the after taste. Not sure if I like it cold, has a weird taste at the end like I chewed on the fuzzy brown skin of the coconut.

I forced my tea-hating husband to try this. He always says when he tries my teas that “it tastes like tea” meaning “it tastes bad”.
For Coconut Cacao he said “It tastes like cold tea. And ice cream”

hmm… I guess it’s sort of ice creamy.

Cold steeped!

More guava taste than hot, oh yeah! Also sweeter. However, the longer I kept this steeping in the fridge, the more the ginger came out, but on the sweeter ginger side of things. If the ginger is throwing you off, try coldsteeping for a couple hours.

I need a better way to cold steep. Right now I’m using my Libre glass, which interestingly doesn’t pour out, so I pour the tea over a strainer. Tempted to get another DT Steeper or similar device and just leave in fridge.

I had a really hard time choosing a tea this morning – I have lots in my “haven’t tasted” pile. This one screamed out at me with its amazing smell. I needed something sweet as my bunny Benson is terrorizing me this morning with his high energy, despite him stuck on cage rest for another day.

DRY: Smells deliciously strong, sweet and nutty – reminds me of a nutty sweet I’ve had, maybe pistachio halva? Crap now I’m craving halva. Lots of chunks of pistachios in this tea!

STEEPED: Steeps up a cloudy light green. Again, still smells very sweet and nutty. I fished out a pistachio and ate it!

TASTE: Smooth, creamy and nutty pistachio with a background of green tea. Bit of a roasted taste and gently sweet. Green tea isn’t grassy or bitter. As the tea cools it is more pistachio and sweet.

WHO’D LOVE THIS TEA: Peeps who love creamy sweet dessert teas.

COMMENTS: YUMMMMMMMMMMM! I should really add rock sugar to this but it is great without so far. I am digging the creamyness and nuttyness of Pistachio Ice Cream.

I finished this tea and immediately wanted more and very tempted to steep up another cup! Oh hell, be right back.
I resteeped as I got all crazy wanting to save more of this tea. Resteeped Pistachio Ice cream has more of the green tea coming out with the creamyness sticking to my lips. The nuttyness is mostly gone and just an aftertaste, but that could of been from me picking out the pistachios and eating them, LOL! The green tea is very nice and still not bitter or grassy, yay!

The balance of the nuttyness and creamyness + green tea is fabulous! So far I’m digging how complex Butiki teas taste, but without a long ingredients list. Very well done, I’ll be very tempted to order more when I finish it off.

Hello evil lemon marshmallow kitty, we meet again but cold steeped!

3 hours in the fridge + a squirt of agave and you are a refreshing lemon drop iced tea drink! No bitterness this time, but still a little grassy, which is fine. I recommend tea peeps to tackle S&CM cold steeped!

Things I’m not liking about cold steeping
1. Having to wait a couple hours vs. 2-8 minutes.
2. I drink through it fast vs. a hot cup of tea to slowly enjoy.

Right now theres a heat wave happening here, so it’s great to have delicious cold tea to drink!

Cold Steeped:

Turned out really good and I think the only way I’m going to drink this tea is by cold steeping from now on.
I tried it before bed and it tasted the same the next day! Much much more fruity tropical taste. Less cinnamon than expected, I found it sat more in the background along with the oolong.

Onto experiment more with cold steeping! I got multiple teas going in my fridge and it’s driving the husband and roommates crazy!
