THIS is the LS for all those out there who don’t think they like LS! Lapsang Souchong is what I mean by LS.
Really the smokiness is JUST at the right level in this one!
This is going to be a STELLAR compliment to my vegetarian chili I am making!
Not vegetarian anymore but sometimes I go back to my roots, and I am sick of all the factory farming, meats from god knows where BLECH.
I may be reverting! Not a bad thing.
Anyway I am going to go review this on http://sororiteasisters.com/ so look for it on the 22nd! :)
SO GOOD!
Thank you sTEAp Shoppe for this sample!

Brandy Matcha

http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/brandy-matcha.html

Okay so for those of you hesitating thinking this is going to taste too much like something a staunch old man sitting in a ritzy Victorian library would drink, its not. Its also not like the stuff the teens would swill behind the bleachers in high school during winter football games. Wait, maybe that was just at my school. Anyway this stuff is GOOOOOD!

Will Work For Tea said in their review it reminded them of Juicy Fruit gum and they totally hit the nail on the head with that assessment! Had this not been named “Brandy” I would have thought it was a fruit blend – not a punch like Hawaiian Punch, not even a tropical mixture, but just a really yummy sweet fruit blend of some kind. I really wish I could pick out specific fruit flavor elements to relate to you but I can’t. Fruit Medley is all I can think of but there is a whipped cream like aspect to it, something that really makes you feel like you bit into some ripe juicy fruit (no pun intended) and it really does taste like that gum! This is one your kids would LOVE! Seriously if you want to get your kids or anyone in the family into matcha I would suggest this or the butterscotch matcha! Just make a latte with some milk, and some vanilla or sweet cream non dairy creamer! Add ice, stir LOVE!

Now as for the Brandy aspect here. Its really not all that present to me. Yes I do get a SLIGHT and I mean SLIGHT alcohol effect – sort of a little twang or ting, but not really so much warming as brandy is known for.

When I was younger, in my teens, I rode both western and equestrian, and trained horses. That was another life time ago. We would always have some brandy on us to keep warm in the winter wether out on the ranch repairing fences or preparing for a fox hunt (we did not really hunt the foxes I would have no part in that so don’t worry) it was more of a Mock Hunt. LOL This matcha does bring back some fond memories of that but its not the same, and I doubt that you really could get the same result from anything but brandy itself but for all intents and purposes this is a very good flavor, a really nice experience, and one I will absolutely be ordering again! I know I say that about a lot of the matcha I have tried, and I have tried a lot of them but this along with about 5 others are THE matcha I can’t be without! The “alcohol” effect is just enough for those who have had brandy to recognize but not so much that those who do not like brandy, have never had it, or should not have it, won’t even notice. Its like being able to recognize any flavor, you kind of have to have experienced it before to know what it is. Without knowing what it is all you will notice is this AMAZING fruit festival in your mouth!

My matcha was composed of the following:

Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
Storage : Add Small Metal Tin Container (Holds up to 45g)
As always I highly suggest you get the tin – its a screw on lid that keeps your matcha fresh and dry and helps you keep from spilling it by trying to scoop it out of the bag.
Again you can get yours here:

“Its like being able to recognize any flavor, you kind of have to have experienced it before to know what it is.”
Well said!!
When I was 6 I had problems with restlessness & insomnia at night, & was prone to slipping out of the house while everyone was asleep & walking to the playground in my PJs. My Mom started giving me a warm cup of milk with a little brandy in it, which she called a Hot Toddy. It definitely helped, although later in my life Brandy became my alcohol of choice. I haven’t had a drink in 29 years (and for good reason), but I haven’t always loved the taste of Brandy!
disclaimer: I do NOT recommend giving children alcohol to get them to sleep,or for any other reason, especially if there is a long, long history of alcoholism in their family!

Azzrian

OH yes I have heard of the Hot Toddy :)
29 years is a long time! Good on you ! The stuff is poison anyway really.
People were not educated back then – but the disclaimer is a good one!

Terri HarpLady

I certainly don’t miss it!
Besides, I have all these wonderful teas!

A full review will be on http://sororiteasisters.com/ on the 20th
This is what I am calling the ninja tea as its buttery creamy goodness sneaks up on you in the aftertaste and lingers around as it wishes!
The cinnamon is well balanced and does not overpower.
I did not think I was going to like this initially but have been proven wrong!
What an unusual and wonderful blend!
Thank you Nature’s Tea Leaf for allowing me to try this!

drank Toasta Rica by Mad Pots of Tea

My blend was inspired from my love for Costa Rica, Earthy notes, intense in your face flavors, and my clustered personality, as well as my love for heavy fruity flavors.
Madame Potts could not have done a better job with my confusing questionnaire I provided her!
My love for tea was founded on Chai, which I have honestly not found a chai I can fall in love with until now!
In addition I love fruity teas and she found just the right amount of fruit flavors to add so that it was not over shadowed by the intense chai flavors!
I recently went to the renaissance fair as I do every year. Some years I am a season ticket holder haha. This tea really hits the nail on the head for all things renaissance which I am IN LOVE with the renaissance!

Azzrian

Oh yes the Ren fest was wonderful as always! All we did this time around was eat lol
Did a little shopping but not much.
The atmosphere is what I love :)
And the smells!

drank Papaya Matcha by Matcha Outlet

Oh yeah get yours here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/papaya-matcha.html

By the smell of this one I was really iffy as to wether I would like it or not.
It smelled just like green bananas! Tart really strong smelling green bananas to the point of smelling like artificial banana flavoring. HOWEVER … wait for it … this stuff is AMAZING!

Oh and also when I was mixing it my daughter asked “what is that??” as she had smelled it from the other room! I asked her “what does it smell like?” she answered “bananas”!

Okay no, I am not confused, I realize this is not banana matcha and in fact once you get it mixed it does not taste like banana matcha at all!

This is yummy papaya! Like the passion fruit matcha I reviewed earlier today there is a rind like flavor to the matcha but its not quite as strong as the rind flavor was in the passion fruit, this is a very nice, fresh, ripe papaya tasting matcha and I LOVE IT! This is a very sweet tasting matcha too!

Honestly, I never would have thought I would like this as much as I do based on the smell of the dry powder. Also this is one of the last matcha I have on hand that I have not yet tried or reviewed! Actually while I have not done my review yet on the brandy matcha I have had it and loved it. Just need to get the review done, so in fact, this is my last matcha to savor and oh yes I am savoring it!!

I mixed this in my typical latte fashion and with the milk and creamer the flavors are incredible! I feel like I am drinking something on a cruise ship or at an island resort! The only thing missing is my lei and some island music! Gad this is for sure on my re-order list once this 30g is gone!

Passion Fruit Matcha

Get yours here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/passion-fruit-matcha.html

Wow this one whisks up really nicely! Granted I am getting better at whisking and making a nice froth on top of my matcha but this one was easy peasy! I have noticed some matcha flavors mix more easily than others for some reason and since I do make more than one matcha many days its not just due to me being better one day versus another. This one whisked up to a very full forth quite easily! I note this because I know froth is really something many of us struggle with especially when we are new to matcha so I wanted to make a note of it for those of you who may feel deflated by not getting a good foam. Get this one and you can feel stellar! lol

Now as for taste, I am not one who has had a lot of passion fruit in their life, other than in smoothies I have got from smoothie places and those are usually so riddled with sugars and other fruits picking out the passion fruit itself was a little difficult especially not having passion fruit in and of itself.

Now I get to taste real passion fruit! Yay!

It has a bit of this natural rind like flavor similar to that you sometimes get in a mango or papaya. Fruits I do have personal experience with. I like it though – it really compliments the natural grassy like flavor of the matcha base! And contrary to the smoothies I have had its not that sweet. There is a tart flavor to it but not bitter. It tastes REALLY healthy, and while matcha is always healthy sometimes I feel guilty having my dessert like matcha lol although I shouldn’t such as my favorite butterscotch mathca makes me feel like I’m cheating haha this one makes me feel like I am really doing something good for my body and trust me my body needs all the help it can get!

The aroma of this one is really quite nice! It is very eye opening and even if its only a mental thing I sure can use that in the mornings!

There is the after taste of the rind like flavor but the passion fruit flavor makes my mouth water for more, literally, as if the juices itself are pulling out the watery mouth sensation! Its strange but nice. Its like having a mouth full of juicy passion fruit!

So I drank half of my matcha straight, then added some sparkling italian water and some sweet cream non dairy creamer to make an italian soda and OMG goodness! The flavors ERUPT into a juicy fruit gum sensation which is similar in some ways to the brandy matcha I am going to review next! It is different though as the brandy also has alcohol notes to it whereas this one does not. This is like the virgin variable you give your kids while you have the brandy one haha. Except this has that lovely awakening rind flavor in the background that lingers in the after taste.

This is one of the more difficult flavors to describe but again probably due to my lack of experience with Passion Fruit.

My matcha was composed of the following:

Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
Storage : Add Small Metal Tin Container (Holds up to 45g)

Wow I can’t believe this one was not even in the Steepster Database!

Macadamia Nut Matcha
http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/macadamia-nut-matcha.html

Well I have to admit I was not as excited to try Macadamia Nut Matcha as I had been other flavors. A nut matcha to me seemed to be something one would mix with another outstanding sounding flavor, such as white chocolate mixed with macadamia nut perhaps. Alas white chocolate has not been released yet. I am sure I could have found something else to mix with this flavor but since it is my first time having it and I wanted to do a review I had it on its own.

I can only say WOW just simply WOW. This is the most amazing macadamia nut taste! It is such a strong flavor even at the robust level it actually may be a little too strong for some people. Not for me, I like my flavors strong, but if you want a more subtle flavor I would go with delicate.

All I can say is once again I am absolutely not disappointed in Red Leaf’s quality and flavors. I was so worried this flavor would only be so-so, a little nutty but not really having any true flavor unto itself. Fact is this tastes more macadamia nutty than anything else I can remember having outside of macadamia nuts themselves straight out of a can or jar, and I rarely have the nuts that way. Usually when I have macadamia nuts they are in a cookie somewhere.

Let me just say this, if I had to choose between a couple of the cookies, and this matcha – I would pick the matcha hands down every time! And know that while I say that White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies are may all time favorite cookies!

While this is the BOMB on its own as a stand alone flavor I sure can’t wait for white chocolate to be released in RLT’s lineup because I would in fact enjoy very much mixing these two wonderful flavors!

As always RLT’s base matcha is superior to any other I have had, and I love the customer service, fast shipping, and loyalty program.

My Macadamia Nut Matcha from Red Leaf Tea was composed of the following:

Options:
Size : Small, Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade), Flavor: Robust, Storage : Add Small Metal Tin Container (Holds up to 45g), Accessories: None

Most of my reviews will be “snippits” of full reviews that can be found at http://sororiteasisters.com/
Posted every evening at 6 EST.
I usually try to post the exact date that the full reviews will post however sometimes post dates need changed so it may not always be correct. Generally the dates are correct however.

About Me:

Most of my reviews, although not all, will be quite favorable of the tea. This is not because all tea is excellent, but more so because I generally will not waste my time on an inferior tea. If I do not care for a tea I won’t continue to drink it let alone spend time reviewing it. If you see a review by me you basically know it is a quality tea. Granted it may not suit your specific taste buds, we all like different things, but as for a tea on the whole it is a good one, from a good company.

I am a spiritual advisor by profession.
I have two “young adult” children.
Four cats and three dogs.

Some of my hobbies include gardening, essential oil therapy, natural perfumery with essential oils, and cooking.

I look for complexity overall in any tea, dimensions to the flavors.

I believe tea should evoke a feeling, thought, emotion, or attitude.

I enjoy most all oolongs, blacks, whites, and greens.

I always love to try a good yellow tea.

I favor unadulterated teas but I do have my longings for a good flavored tea now and then so I don’t rule them out by any means!

I enjoy green rooibos don not like red rooibos.
