217 Tasting Notes
Yay! My Della Terra BF order arrived yesterday afternoon and since I’ve been trying to get my hands on the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie FOREVER, this is the first tea I greedily sipped into… Scent wise it lives up to its name, cinnamon, raisin and a hint of oatmeal, however upon sipping all I taste is an overwhelming cinnamon and apple flavour… in fact, it tastes more like apple pie than oatmeal raisin cookies and although I like apple pie, I already have too many of these types of tea… sigh… not a bad tea, just not what I was hoping for
Where do I even start?? This tea is amazing!! Opening the red and gold canister I’m immediately greeted by huge curls of toasted almond, juicy looking raisins, large chunks of orange and cherry and an almost overwhelming brown sugar and candied fruit scent.
First sips really are reminiscent of Christmas pudding!! Oranges, vanilla, brown sugar, almond… Ohmigod! So expensive but SOOO worth it!! I really need to make sure this lasts til Christmas morning!! A splash of milk makes the vanilla and sugar notes really stand out.
Preparation
My hubby bought me the Lupicia holiday sampler as a super early birth-mas present and this was the first tea I went straight for (after playing with the music box of course) since I have an all day work meeting and I need a tasty pick me up to keep me both awake and engaged . Although I can taste the vanilla I’m really not getting much strawberry… But maybe I should blame my coffee cup instead of the tea… Ok, I can’t rate this tea based upon potential coffee contaminants… Guess I’m going to have to wait til I get home for a real fix.
Yum yum yum!! An absolutely perfect evening treat!! I’ve been drinking this the last few nights with a touch of milk and a teaspoon of rock sugar and wowie talk about satisfying my sweet tooth! This tastes similar to raspberry truffle but with a slight waffle aftertaste and little to no caffeine!! Call me obsessed but I’ve already bought another bag for when this one runs out
Mmmm… I’m brewing up a cup of this deliciousness right now and I can’t wait!
I drank my first cup of this a few days ago now and have been meaning to write up my tasting note but haven’t had a second to myself until just now (and of course, Im celebrating this fact with another cup of Heaven’s Trash) and all I remember is the damp tea leaves tempting me from my brew basket once I had finished that cup with their insanely delicious malty aroma – the scent still haunts me!
Ok, kettle boiled, tea brewed… cup number two on its way…

Oh Golden Orchid…. I absolutely love it when i get to the bottom of the bag and the top of my tea cup ends up covered in floating black specks of vanilla goodness… BUT… I absolutely hate it when I get to the bottom of the bag as its my last cup until Brendan takes pity on me and makes more :(
This smells insane!! Opening the bag my nose is assaulted with the scent of butterscotch heavily laden with rum! Its the perfect after dinner drink for me as its a rooibos tea so no caffeine and the flavor is sweet enough that this tea acts as my desert! Defiantly going on my repurchase list for when I’m in San Fransisco next!
Ok, so I never actually got to taste Creamy Eggnog so I can’t compare the two but decided since Stacy is shutting up shop in the near future that I should get my hands on some Spiced Nog to try it while I still could! This is pretty darn delicious! You get a real creaminess from the tea and the touch of nutmeg is delicious! I seriously cannot buy anymore teas right now but if I’ve run out by the time Stacy releases her next batch of new teas I think this one may find its way back into my shopping cart.
oh man is this stuff sweet!! And yet some how the nutritional value label on the back of the packet tells me there is only 15 calories per serve… ummm… ok … how big is a serve? 1/4 cup?? Ok, so I just looked it up, apparently the culprit is the monk fruit which is 300 times sweeter than sugar (what the #$@! is a monk fruit?!?!?!?!) Anyhoo this tea is super sweet but still pretty tasty, there is a fair amount of cinnamon however its not overpowering (I don’t like cinnamon all that much) and there is a slight cakey cookie taste. Its not something I would usually gravitate towards but since it tastes so sweet and has no caffeine it might become a after dinner treat, at least until the bag is gone. Now I must go google monk fruit…
If your a pineapple and coconut fan do yourself a favor and get yourself some of this tea quick! The bag is full of shredded coconut, pieces of dried pineapple and black tea, in fact, there seems to be more of the first two ingredients in my bag than the last! A brewed cup screams of mouthwatering pineapple and creamy coconut and is simply delicious with a splash of milk. Hope the rest of my Camillia Sinensis tea haul live up to the high standard that this tea has set!
