This tea sounded amazing on etsy and smelled pretty darn delicious when it eventually arrived. I get a good hit of the peanut, ginger and oat ingredients straight out of the tin and there are also some large looking dried strawberry pieces and peanut hunks in the dry leaf which gave me super high hopes of a brewed cuppa that would taste like PB&J…. unfortunately as delicious as the tea smells I don’t get a single hint of peanut butter or strawberry jelly in the brewed liquid which just makes me sad… such high hopes… yet this tea really doesnt taste like anything at all… boo :(

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Dang. That one was on my list to pick up.

Fjellrev

mmmm forgotten how much I really enjoy this tea… it tastes a little like the generic tea you get at a more mid to high end Chinese or Japanese restaurant but honestly, thats what I like about it the most!! Its got a delicious toasty rice flavor to it that just makes me want to nosh on some good asian food!!!

I feel like I’ve been super absent from everything the last three weeks due to work, traveling, being unwell and just life in general but fingers crossed I’m back into the swing of things… more or less… I had such high hopes for this tea, I mean seriously, Black Forest Cake Tea!! And although the dry leaf smelled super amazing and was fully of the most chocolatey-cherry-berry scent the liquid was a disappointing and lacking in flavor… and I’d even gone a little above and beyond by trading my usual skim-milk with heavy cream!!! I’m not giving up yet however, I’ll give this another go (probably with a little more leaf) and see how it goes… I’m starting to realize I’m a chronic over-leafer and prefer way more leaf than recommended in order to get the flavor I want and I really shouldn’t hold that against a tea when I’m brewing as per the recommended parameters!! Watch this space… I have faith in Bluebird!!

Great to see you back!

drank Milk-Oolong by Dammann Frères

Memorial Day Weekend!! We’re in Zion National Park the next few days for some canyoneering and hiking and this morning it is freezing and raining!! Not good hiking or canyoneering weather… There’s something about slot canyons and rain that just doesn’t go together unless you have a death wish!! But it is perfect weather to drink lots of tea and read a good book!! I’ve just started reading The Nightingale, has anyone else read it? So far it’s absolutely fantastic, like ’can’t put it down, eyes are burning and I’m exhausted BUT MUST keep reading’ fantastic!!Highly recommend!! Of course I bought some of my tea stash with me and since we had no milk this morning I decided on the milk oolong from Damman Freres – at first I wasn’t super impressed as the tea didn’t have any of those real milky flavors I’m so looking for in a milk oolong and then I suddenly realized, there is no milk in this tea and it is the creamiest tea I’ve ever had! A little nutty, super creamy, this is almost perfection in a cup!! Yum!!

Hope the weather clears up for you. That sounds like a fun weekend!

I couldn’t help myself last week when American Tea Room announced free US shipping on any order and so I bit on some teas I’ve been eyeing off for a while now (sample packs only I swear!!) and have been desperate to try. First out of the package was Brioche and let me tell you, scent wise, this tea is intoxicating!! Both the dry leaf and brewed liquor smell heavily of almond croissant however the taste doesn’t quite live up to the promise in my opinion… Although the almond and pastry notes are present they’re a little too weak and all this tea has done is make me crave real almond croissants!! Tasty but a little disappointing…maybe i’ll try more leaf in my next cup to see if this solves the problem and so I’m holding off on rating for now….

Tea number two in my lucky dip bag from Banff Tea Co. I brewed this one up this morning and stuck it in my tumbler to take to work not realizing it was a rooibos… I need caffeine on Monday morning!!!! Anyways this is quite tasty – I get a cinnamon raisin flavor from the tea which is very enjoyable even in the warmer weather of Southern California in May! And as an added bonus… one more cup and this will be a sip down!! Yay!!

drank Cougar Tea by Banff Tea Co

I was in Calgary almost a year ago doing a visa run and between the visa appointment and waiting for the processing and return of my passport I did what most people do when they find themselves in Calgary with spare time…. I jumped in the car and headed straight for the Rockies!!

Walking around Banff I discovered the cutest little tea shop with walls and walls of large glass jars containing some of the most insanely delicious smelling (and sounding) blends I had ever come across. After picking out a ridiculous number of teas to purchase, I realized I couldn’t take home everything and decided to throw a sample pack of their exclusive blends (5 small taster packs of some of their signature blended teas) in with my already ginormous purchase…

So fast forward to today and I’ve rediscovered this ‘lucky dip’ pack at the back of my cupboard and have decided today is the day I’m going to finally work my way through it!!

First on the list, Cougar Tea which is an orange, licorice, rooibos blend. So honestly, I’m not really a personal fan of orange teas and this one has a slightly weird aftertaste to it that reminds me of artificial sweetener and although the ingredients don’t list sweetener they do include ‘natural flavoring’ which could easily be stevia. The orange and licorice are well balanced and neither overpowers the other however that aftertaste kinda ruins it for me. Booo… 1 tea down, 4 to go….
