Another sample I picked up at the local gourmet food store. First…others note the strong scent of the dry bag, ginger especially, and I could hardly detect any scent at all. I was fearful that the flavor was going to be flat. I let the bag steep 4 minutes to a sweet light caramel yellow, pour….and the pear scent drifted up like “Ha, fooled you”. The pear flavor is absolutely spot on (had a pear tree growing up in California)…and the ginger is way in the background…not the type you cook with in the shaker bottle, but the fresh ginger you grate or chop that needs a very light touch and has that peppery heat. I taste a slight sweet corn (the new white corn on the cob) flavor also in the middle before the last pear burst.
