42 Tasting Notes
Added this one to my collection today for the purpose of drinking iced.
3 teaspoons, steep ~3 mins, then into a full cup of ice.
My tea drinking had fallen off as the weather has gotten hotter and more humid. But this little number will bring me back.
Ran with the Gunpowder today and added a little Citron Sonata…that is what I do with pretty much everything now….add the Sonata.
Went back to an old standby this morning, but added just a touch of sugar. You want to be careful of how much you add. Too much and you ruin it. I would estimate I had about 1/2tsp in there.
I have been neglecting my tea log lately, mostly due to a crazy schedule. Don’t worry, the schedule isn’t too crazy for tea, just too crazy to write about tea.
This afternoon I had 2tsp of this one with 1tsp of Citron Sonata. The Citron takes the that little vegetable edge that some green tea’s can have and softens it up a bit.
Can’t get enough the green teas in the afternoon. Noticed however that the gunpowder supply is getting low….

Hands down, my favorite tea. There are amazing chocolate and carmel undertones. Can’t think of anything I would rather drink in the morning.
This is actually my second time with this one, though I forgot to log the first. Simple and smokey. A light green liquid that for me is perfect in the morning.
Made this one up tonight as I was doing some work. I let the teapot start to make boilings sounds, then added a couple of large ice cubes to the Teavana Perfect Tea maker before pouring in the water. This combined with the shorter steep time made this one much better than my first attempt. Very refreshing and a great evening tea
2 tsp Citron Sonata with 1 tsp Youtberry & Wild Orange Blossom
This has been the only good part of my morning so far..
2nd steep…added a tsp of Youthberry. Is there anything that tea can’t do?
Last night I skipped home from work like Ralphie waiting for his Little Orphan Annie decoder ring in the mail. I slowly creeped open the mailbox to find a big white box with the Teas Etc logo on it. It was almost like Christmas Day opening my Red Rider BB gun. (Ok, not quite that cool).
This was my first order with Teas Etc and I am sure there will be more. Fast shipping and more importantly tip top tea (TTT).
I will be honest that I was a little frightened when I saw the amount of lavender that was in the blend. I was worried that the tea would come out tasting like perfume or something. Well there is a reason I don’t create tea blends, this thing is great! The liquor is an nice brown color with just the perfect level of lavender goodness. I will continue to enjoy this bad boy daily with no worries about shooting my eye out.
Went with the Citron Sonata and Youthberry blend this afternoon…but ICED. It was my first iced tea adventure and I wasn’t impressed. The ice watered down the tea and it didn’t have nearly the flavor that the hot version did. Very likely I need to steep longer when doing iced tea, but still I feel I would be loosing flavor.
Blended with Youthberry & Wild Orange Blossom this morning, excellent morning tea when I am not drinking straight up Black Dragon Pearls.
With all the blending I have been doing lately I decided to go simple this morning. 5 pearls in 16oz of 195 degree water for 5 mins. I know I change my favorite everyday, but this one has it right now.
Starting a new blend with Youthberry…my final assessment….Youthberry works with anything. This however is my favorite blend so far!!! The liquor is a great light orange color and the taste? Amazing. I have always been a fan of Citron Sonata straight up, but it had a slightly tart after taste. The Youthberry smooths that right out!
Give this a shot.
This morning’s Golden Monkey blend is with Youthberry White and Wild Orange Blossom. Not bad…the White tea lightens up the Monkey. A lighter orange color than the Raspberry Riot blend, a very similar taste, a little more mild.
This one has been going toe to toe with Citron Sonata as my afternoon tea. So far Youthberry has been kicking Citron’s butt. I am sure the old standby will be back in the later rounds though.
Upon the recommendation of Teavana iPhone app, I made a nice blend of this with Raspberry Riot. The liquor has a dark orange hue and the taste is much different than I would have guessed.
Somehow there is a hint of orange in there, the kind of flavor you get from an orange tootsie roll pop. I recommend giving it a shot.
Finished the last of this little number this morning with a tear in my eye. On the last sip I happened to be doing some shopping on Teas Etc and found an Organic Gunpowder that was in stock, and will soon be in my mailbox. A special shout out to Will P for getting me 20% off…
The smokey flavor is just what I am looking for in the morning, or for that matter just about any time of day. I always seem to have a little more pep after a cup, even though I know there is little or no caffeine. I just hope the postman is drinking some Gunpowder tea so he can get my supply to me ASAP.
Came in with grease on my hands from removing a spline on my mower, added some sugar this time…better.
I got this one in the mail yesterday and boy was I excited. It may grow on me, but right now not very impressed. It smells and tastes like pipe tobacco. I could see however that adding some sugar or perhaps using it as a base for a blend may be better.
Just got this as a blend with Wild Orange Blossom….DANG….this is GOOD.
Very light and refreshing. Would be excellent iced as well.
The only downside…it is as pink as pink can be, several people double take when they see a guy like me drinking this stuff…..it is worth it.
