1264 Tasting Notes
This finally came in! I ordered it Feb 27th and it just sorta sat at the border while the border agents sniffed it or something but now it’s here.
And this tea is worth the wait! I accidentally oversteeped it the first time, but the second time is perfect. It’s very similar to laoshan black but the genmaicha adds to it so that it is very similar to a Crunch Chocolate bar. OMG. That’s exactly what I was hoping for.
THIS was the tea that made me place my order and it was well worth it.
I’ve been remiss with my reviews – too busy at work and after… Yikes. Grown up like, what’s up with that? :O
Anyway, I finally got a chance to try this sample from CrowKettle and it’s nice! It does taste a little sea-weedy though – is there green tea in this too? Or is it just Mulberry leaf?
It’s mostly seaweed, but I am happily in the mood for seaweed tea.
It’s fitting to drink Tea at Sea teas with my whale mug! :O Yep, I’m happy with it – can’t you tell?
And I’m happy with this tea as well. The instructions said to steep around 100C, but not for how long, so I went with 2 minutes. I don’t taste the promised honey milk aroma, but I do get floral notes. I re-steeped it for 4, and it’s a little roastier, but still very floral. I can tell that this is a good oolong, but because of the floral notes, it’s not one I would reach for often.
I still am happy I had the chance to sample it. Thanks Tea At Sea!
This one isn’t too bad – it’s ceylon, and tiger eye, which I think adds a little caramel, and I can taste the cinnamon in it too. It’s tasty – there’s nothing wrong with it – but it’s not quite memorable either.
But I’m happy I tried it! And if I were in the Zelda fandom maybe I would appreciate it more!
Ok Sil- your turn! (Sipdown, 187)
Mmm… there’s a lot going on in this sweet amber tea…
Sweet potato, lots of caramel, assam notes and a little orange. Everything blends together so well. The Lapsang Souchong is subtle, as are the other spices It’s just like a warm day in the garden. :)
