1738 Tasting Notes
I decided to cold-steep this and it used up most of my tea so I thought why not brew up the last of it hot now, and drink it while I take a sample of my cold-brewed tea and then compare them! BAM! This is happening.
And after sipping both, I like it better hot. It’s basically liquid banana bread when you drink it hot, golden and sweet and very buttery… Cold? It’s a little bit odd. It’s still banana bread, with butter, but… it’s just not as good cold. Too bad – I would have been better served drinking it hot, especially since it’s such a heavy tea!
Woo. I still have a few cups of this left! Not bad considering I’ve shared my NightVale teas with others.
Anyway, I’ve disovered that I like the thai chai blend because it’s nice and creamy, and because of that, I enjoy this blend. Would I want 3 oz of this? IDK. I think there was another Thai Chai blend I liked more…
I bought this during the last sale because it was really cheap and I was curious, so why not pop one in? Who’s afraid of Pu-erh? Not me!
I wonder if I was supposed to rinse this first? Oh well.
This is nice though. It’s really earthy, but warming and comforting. It’s not as fancy/special as my beloved Special Dark, but this is still a nice go-to puerh. I like the tuocha cups too – they seem like they’d be easy to take to work.
I drank this earlier but can’t quite recall everything about it, except that it was maltier than other blacks and had a few raisin notes as well. It was good, but not my favourite of the Taiwan Tea Craft teas. I’ve got several cups left to play with though!
(I was tempted to order the Hong Yun from Butiki but couldn’t justify it, so that was why I chose this cup today. I imagine they would be very similiar, at least to my semi-unrefined palette!)
Sil talked me into splitting this and I’m happy I did. With a name like Steamed Purple Green, I thought it would taste a lot like spinach, and less like ‘tea’ but it’s actually balanced right in between. It’s fresh, green, and buttery but not in your face with the vegetal/spinach flavours. Interesting! I’m not a huge fan of green teas (I have 1 oz of Laoshan Green that I’ve had maybe 2 cups of in 8 months? :O) but I do like this!

ETA: Hey – when you guys track tea in your spreadsheets, and you have tea you bought at two separate dates, do you count that as 1 tea, or 2? I want to keep them separate because I want to accurately track my old teas, BUT I don’t want to stuff my cupboard full of ‘extra’ teas. :D
ETA-again: I decided to count each duplicate tea as a fraction (.5, .5) instead of doubling my count. So I’m actually at 185. I’ll take it! And if it’s a fraction, I’ll remember to double-check for the other one when I remove one!
So I drank a cup of this earlier and it was bitter and I hated it.
But I had one cup left so I super-steeped it and then added ice for instant ice tea, and it’s much better.
Also, I realized that Second Flush might mean darjeeling so maybe that’s why it’s a little bitter? I probably should have steeped at 95 instead of 100. Oh well! I’m happier with it then I was, which is good because I expect good things from TeaG teas!
