1393 Tasting Notes

drank Earl Grey by Nina's Paris

This was another sample from Sil.
I don’t have much to say about it. It’s a nice EG, without too much “blergamot” and I liked it.

:) technically that’s one of your teas from our order haha i randomyl divided them up after giving you that one as the extra one

It looks like they were really generous with the samples. I was smelling them as I added everything to my cupboard and it got me planning future orders.

AHAHAHAHAH. Like I need to think about FUTURE ORDERS yet!

Thank you Sil!

I mean, I think. My cupboard started at 186 and now it’s up at/around 258.

Some of that, maybe 15 of it, was tea that I ordered and split with Sil, but the rest was her just being crazy and super generous and I am blown away. So, thank you. :D

Now I chose this one because it was only one cup. It’s a nice black tea, with that tannic something or whatever that I notice in Kenyan teas. It’s enjoyable though. I think there’s a little bit of golden honey in each sip, and I’m enjoying that. It’s comparable to JusTea’s Kenyan black, but not quite so strong.

This gets bitter quickly as it cools.

This tea is ok. It’s not great. It’s strong and other than that I can’t pick much else up.
It’s better with sugar. It sorta needs sugar. Yikes.

It’s a Monday sorta tea.

You know what I did today? Dropped my phone and the bus and used my foot to catch it so it wouldn’t slide everywhere. So, I grinded it into the floor and scratched the crap out of it. It kept turning itself off and wouldn’t boot so I ended up buying a Windows phone for $100 at the BestBuy by my office. That’s my day.

I was interested in trying out the Windows platform just because I love my surface, but I wasn’t planning to get a new phone 1 year after I bought my Blackberry. :| To be fair though, it was failing before I crushed it. The power button and head phone jacks and volume button all stopped working last week.

New phone! Bad tea! :D OHAI monday!

What a day! I hope you like playing with the new phone.

I do! It’s so distracting but I have SO MUCH to set up on it, and contacts to merge and apps to delete or install.

I love gadgets. :D Even though this is an entry-level phone and won’t have half the power of my old one, I don’t care. It’s a new toy!

Oh yeah, you’re going to have so much fun with it at least for the next few weeks or so! love new toys.

Yikes! But I hope you have fun with the new toy. :)

Bumping the rating up a little as I am really enjoying this!
It’s simple and sweet and has sprinkles. That’s all I wanted.

Sami Kelsh

Everything is even better with sprinkles!

All of the sprinkles! :D

drank Honeybush Mango by Adagio Teas

Oh, this is a massive HELL NO.

I cold-steeped it overnight and tried a sip this morning and it tasted like whiskey. WHISKEY.
This is not what I’m expecting at 7am on a Monday morning!

(and down the sink it went…)

Umm… thank you VariaTEA? Hahahah (187)

OMG, I am so sorry. I never got whiskey however I only tried it hot.

Or do you mean, “Oh, this is a massive HELL NO!

….. wait, i got it, when i read this i saw will smith! lol.

Irish whiskey for St. Patrick’s Day? :D

With a score of 3 & “a massive HELL NO”, it sounds like a nominee for the “Hall of Shame”

Yep. It totally is a nominee. Such a fail. I totally did that whole body shudder that I do when I quaff hardbar without mix. I don’t do alcohol well and this tea was just too close.

I like the suggestion to bold it. :D

Per your Bio: “So far it seems that I prefer unflavoured black teas, although I still drink a few that are flavoured each day too.”

“It is pointless to resist the DARK side!”

Have you seen this recent discussion thread?

I hadn’t until now! Now, it seems like my preferences vary depending on my mood. Sometimes I want serious business unflavoured tea, and usually in th evenings, I like to drink dessert and flavoured teas. Fandom teas are utterly silly but I enjoy them because they inspire different moods! I try to be open to trying anything too.

But I won’t try that one again.

Sipdown! (189)

I’m not into this anymore… Good thing it’s gone. I’m not into Lavender that much. Flowers and tea are rarely for me. :D

Thank you ifjuly (and Dexter3657) for letting me have a sample of this. This is a darker oolong, but I like that. It’s so green and rich, and the coconut tastes really natural and delicous.

I couldn’t tell you how this compares to the one from OMGsrsly but it’s up there. Very good.

(sipdown 192 – I’m currently on a mission to sipdown all those random little swap bags that are taking up room. Foil bags are a ok. Zips gotta go!)

This blend is odd. So odd.

But the 11th Doctor was quite odd too so I think this is a good fit.

It’s supposed to be black teas, white tea, blueberry and cinnamon but my mouth keeps telling me I’m drinking blueberry gingerbread. Blueberry gingerbread is not a combination I would have immediately thought was amazing, but it does work.

It’s a little bready, the blueberry is light and sweet (and brilliant) and finishes each sip. The cinnamon and nutmeg hold everything together. It’s very comforting.

I love the name of this tea! It makes me so wistful ;)

I’ve been watching DW (The Hand of Evil, Tom Baker) this afternoon while I do the ironing. Nothing like a Sarah Jane and the Fourth Doctor! But… this is the episode where Sarah Jane leaves… wah, wah.. :( But the tea sounds good and I hope to try it soon.

Sami Kelsh

Oh, the Hand of Feels! hugs everyone

Blueberry gingerbread sounds really confusing to my mind, but on the other hand I made plum and cinnamon jam tonight, so if it’s anything like that is…

I should watch more original who. I came into it with 9, and fell in love then even though a lot of the plotlines with 9 were so cheesy. There’s so much to catch up on that it’s a little overwhelming, but I have a feeling Tom Baker is a good place to start.

And plum and cinnamon jam? Hmm…. interesting?

When I made this today I had it confused with Mandala’s Special Dark and so I let it steep for 10 minutes both times.

And you know what? It still worked out wonderfully.

Tea: I just started drinking loose tea in the fall of 2012, and once I started I had to get more and more and try ALL THE TEAS. Joining Steepster made this worse/easier.

So far it seems that I prefer unflavoured black teas, although I still drink a few that are flavoured each day too. Oolongs, greens, puerhs and white teas are all very good, but I just don’t crave them as often.

Me: Ok. Random things. I like animals, I have a baby girl and a devoted bf, and … I’m a geek. I like Lord of the Rings, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, pen&paper RPG’s, online RPG’s, video games, silly internet memes, puzzles and a bunch of others things! I taught myself to knit and I’m considering crochet but I need to make time for all these things!

1-50: Bleh.
51-64: It’s ok.
65-75: It’s good.
76-85: It’s very good. (Buy 1oz+)
86-100: Amazing. (ALWAYS re-stock)
