1633 Tasting Notes
Well, this has been in my cupboard since April and has barely been touched. :( I need to stop being afraid of fancy tea.
This is a really good one. It’s not as amazing as the descriptions lead it to be, which makes me feel like a tea failure, and that I shouldn’t be drinking Verdant in the first place, BUT it is good so who cares if I don’t get creamy custard and lingering dark elderberries. >:|
This tastes green and fresh, and slightly creamy, and it makes me think that the impending snowstorm we were warned about might just turn into spring rains and leaves blooming and sunshine on a coolish day. It’s darker than other oolongs I’ve had, which is a good thing too. I’ve got enough left for one more cup, but this type of oolong seems like pure win. Even without the “vegetal creamy green bean flavor with a lingering honeydew melon sweet orchid finish.”
Backlog & Sipdown (78)
I forgot to log this when I drank it yesterday. I was completely distracted by the fact that this was puerh. I didn’t read the description well enough I guess. So, my mind basically went. Wait, puerh? Puerh? Hmm, still puerh. I was stuck in a loop. And that was my first cup.
Happily the second cup was much better as I was able to actually think about it. And it was pretty tasty. It was dark and woodsy/earthy like a puerh with the caramel notes mixed with it – it wasn’t like a puerh from Davidstea where the flavouring is so strong you wonder what the base is. Instead this is fully in your face puerh, with flavouing to ENHANCE those notes. It was really quite good, and (as VariaTEA) had hoped, makes me curious about trying more from CaesarsTea.
Thanks for the sample VariaTEA!
I think this is the last sample I have from JustJames, and it is just PERFECT for winter. The oolong is dark (and possibly roasted), while the chestnut flavours swirl around. It makes me imagine sitting curled up next to a roaring fireplace, with a cat purring on my lap and a book nearby. It’s a cup of liquid comfort.
It’s just, really good. Can’t wait to re-steep this!
It’s late and I should be proof-reading my bf’s essay but I’m too sleepy and my head hurts so instead I’m drinking this tea and talking about the Doctor Who special with a friend of mine. It was pretty great. And now my headache is gone and I’m off to bed. :D
Yay for painkillers, good tea, good friends and Doctor Who!
(I wouldn’t be in the mood for this all the time though. Very rarely in fact. But when I want it, I want it)
Sigh. Another sipdown (84). And unless Stacy decides to release this as a permanent blend, I may never have it again.
I drank it after watching the 50th Anniversary special of Doctor Who. It seemed like the appropriate time to finish this off. And without spoiling anything, I will say that I am happy with the episode and the tea. Both do well multiple times. (And now I can scour the net for reactions/reviews and madcap theories!)
