1392 Tasting Notes

This is another one I picked up from the Steepster Meet-Up! I’m setting a bit aside for Sil and Kittenna as it’s pretty good, and I’m certain my 25g will not last long.

It’s Earl Grey, but not overwhelmingly so, and the grapefruit balances it out nicely. I… well, I guess I drank my cup too quickly to properly review it, but that’s not a bad sign is it?

I snagged this and the Mint Julep pitcher packs just because I have no willpower when I see things on sale sometimes. I don’t regret it though – this pitcher will last me we move, and then I’ll make the Mint Julep in Vernon so I have something chilled there as well.

Gotta load the truck up Friday morning. I’m going to have to pack my tea survival kit soon. I don’t want to pack my tea up, but… well, I’m going to have to at some point! Maybe on Wednesday after I check out the new Fall Stuff at DavidsTea! (Then buy more than I should and hide it away in the box so no one notices it! Bwahahah)

I liked those pitcher packs.
Haha- hopefully no ones notices the packing box for your tea keeps getting heavier..or bigger!

Hehehe. That’s the plan. (I’m so awful!)

OMGsrsly drank this earlier so I thought I’d better open my pack up and have some too.

This is a greedy tea! It says “2 heaping tea measuring spoons for 1 cup of water”. Well, 50g will not last very long then! I am leaving at least a cup for Sil and Kittena to try so that we are prepared if we ever want to order any directly from the company.

And maybe we should? As a fruit tea, this is very good. I don’t really mind the hibiscus – as the tea cools a bit it fades into the background. I’m tasting apples and spices and a bit of tartness. And orange; there’s a bit of orange too. I’ve never had Christmas Stollen, but it does sorta remind me of glogg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulled_wine#Nordic_gl.C3.B6gg). Like OMGsrsly says, this tea is a bit like fruity booze.

I don’t think I would drink this one too often – it’s not an everyday (every evening?) tea for me – but I could see it being a popular one around Christmas.

Apparently my bf has invited 4 people to have Christmas with us in Toronto since we’re away from our families, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this number grew. I could use this tea on hand as a refreshment for guests!

Lol already p,anning Christmas?!

I think it’d be a delightful on-the-back-burner house scenter. :) I love the smell of this one.

I guess? Haha. He’s just hanging out with a few members from his Honors class before they all start their Masters at different schools – a few in ON. So he’s hoping to keep in touch.

We are not big on Christmas otherwise! Haha.

But I love the idea of just brewing it for the scent. It smells so delightful!

Oh wow!
I dragged my best friend off to the mall yesterday and made sure we stopped in at the local DavidsTea to see what was on sale for summer clearance. She’s not a huge fan of DT because of all the crazy blends, but she has found a few that she likes.

Read My Lips is not one of them. :P

She found this one though, and so we asked to smell it and take it in a go cup. We weren’t far from the store before we decided that it was freaking amazing and we ended up splitting 100g. :D (So she could get the tin).

I love the licorice and fennel and anise and PEPPER. How neat is that? And it’s not that crazy strong a blend or anything either. It makes me feel alert, yet calm with the peppermint. It might be soothing for a sore throat too.

So, this was a surprise purchase but I’m happy she found it because I’m such a green tea snob I would never have though something called “North African Mint” would be this delicious.

I made a cup of it as soon as we got home, because the sips I had from hers weren’t enough.

ETA: I’m drinking this again today, even though it’s 1 AM. Who needs sleep when there’s packing and cleaning to do!

I will have to try this!

drank After Eight by Steeped Tea

Hmmmm… this was an interesting experiment, and it was free tea from my aunt for my birthday, but there’s just something… off about this one. Something odd and awful at the end of each sip.

Time for something else I think.

I really shouldn’t like this tea. I guess I didn’t expect to? And I don’t deserve to because it was an impulsive buy and those are supposed to bite you in the butt.

But I do.

It makes me think of a Ceylon, but I guess there is Assam in there too; both black teas make a strong showing, and then the vanilla and pomegranate make their appearance, bow, and leave centre-stage. This tea wants to be astringent, but it isn’t. Just enough to make me stop and pay more attention to the flavours, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

I think I’ll drink this one when I’m homesick. ;)
(for wherever “home” is. I was only in Vancouver for 5 years. The on Vancouver Island for 3. Then High Prairie for 3. Kamloops for 4?)

I guess I’ll drink this when I miss Vancouver. :D

Backlog from yesterday: I drank 30oz of this beause it was just so good and I wanted to keep going with it. It was a bit maltier than I had remember in the first steep, but REALLY good. I’m sure that 100g in my cupboard won’t last terribly long.

It’s extremely good, yes.

I’m so happy I ordered from Teavivre! It was such a great sale and the shipping is just SO reasonable. I got my order quicker than I get orders from the US, and for half the price. Go figure.

It really is.

Mmmm, I think I might go make a cup of this one now too. :)

This was just a little sample with my last order, but I requested it because I thought it would make a nice iced tea – and it did. The baby and I have been sipping away at it all day. I get a lot of the orange, but there are bits of apples and other fruits hiding away in the back. I can’t remember how much this one costs, but I could see this one being an easy one to drink down in the summer. It’s just a touch tart, but not unpleasantly so.

Here’s a quick tasting note from the Walmart checkout. I tried this iced to-go, and I love it. It wouldn’t be great hot, but it’s enjoyable iced.

Apparently I CAN do hibiscus. Agave helped.

drank Cocomint Cream by DAVIDsTEA
1392 tasting notes

Well, and that’s that for that.

This tea is one of the few that I bought 100g from at DavidsTea and didn’t regret the impulse buy at all. I actually refilled my tin before they stopped stocking it because I KNEW I would want more.

I’m sad that it’s gone, but, strangely, not heartbroken. This was a really good relaxing tea, but I’m sure I can find something to fill its place.

Jackie T

Simpson and Vail created a replica of this for me, it’s called Jaclyn’s Cocomint Tea, the only difference is that SV uses unsweetened coconut flakes :)

Oh, that’s really awesome!
I didn’t realize they made custom blends either.

I was really excited for a minute. SV’s blend looks great, and it’s a good price too, except for the $28.25 they charge to ship to Canada. Agggh. I hope Davids brings Cocomint back this winter. I have the 100g I ordered last week, but it won’t last forever.

Jackie T

I wrote to them and begged haha, they were happy to do it! I sent them a sample of the one from David’s and they recreated it and sent me a sample back. Then I ordered a pound. infused1 would you like me to send you some? I have SO MUCH!!!

Tea: I just started drinking loose tea in the fall of 2012, and once I started I had to get more and more and try ALL THE TEAS. Joining Steepster made this worse/easier.

So far it seems that I prefer unflavoured black teas, although I still drink a few that are flavoured each day too. Oolongs, greens, puerhs and white teas are all very good, but I just don’t crave them as often.

Me: Ok. Random things. I like animals, I have a baby girl and a devoted bf, and … I’m a geek. I like Lord of the Rings, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, pen&paper RPG’s, online RPG’s, video games, silly internet memes, puzzles and a bunch of others things! I taught myself to knit and I’m considering crochet but I need to make time for all these things!

1-50: Bleh.
51-64: It’s ok.
65-75: It’s good.
76-85: It’s very good. (Buy 1oz+)
86-100: Amazing. (ALWAYS re-stock)
