1739 Tasting Notes
And this is another sipdown. (168 – with my Butiki order!)
I don’t know what it is, but I’m not really digging something in this blend. It’s ok, but it’s making my throat scratchy. I wonder if that means I’m allergic to something in the blend? Someone mentioned that earlier – maybe JustJames? in regards to rooibos?
So I think this was one of the ones I bought from Sil! She went out on a fancy tea shopping trip when she found out they were available locally, and lazy me just said I’d buy some off you. :P
So I’m enjoying this. It’s a nice brisk black tea, malty and not too sweet. To be honest, it’s nice, but not as knock-my-socks-off as I had hoped for, especially when compared to Bolder Breakfast, or Laoshan Black.
But that’s ok. I can’t afford to buy a tin of this and every tea out there. :) I’ll enjoy this while I can.
Thank you Sil (and Terri?) for this sample! (162)
It smells so dark and rich, and I probably shouldn’t be drinking it at 11, but I’ve got more Supernatural episodes I’d like to watch.
It’s very rich with a lot of cocoa notes and maybe some oak? It’s not as sweet as I had expected, but ti’s still very nice. It makes me think of Laoshan Black, although I couldn’t quite say what the difference is.
This was such an easy sipdown (163) that I went for it, especially since I only labelled this tea as “check Steepster” because Sil couldn’t remember the name of it off the top of her head. Hahahahah.
Wow. This IS a green tea. So bright and fresh and buttery. It’s liquid spinach, but without all the healthy nutrients. :P I wouldn’t want to drink this that often but it is very enjoyable.
Thanks for letting me have a cup!
I think I had a tiny sample of this once before but I think it was possibly stale as I didn’t really get much from it.
THIS one though, smells amazing. And, after drinking Brioche and thinking that is a tea I should drink all the time, now I’m drinking this and thinking the same thing. But I can’t have 100g of ALL THE TEAS.
I do think this is one I would like to stock up on at some point. The base is really nice, even though I don’t have the words for it, and the strawberry cream notes are a delight. I’m bumping this up.
Oh, Thank you BrewTeallySweet for the surprise sample! This has been on my shopping list for ages and now I’ve finally got a cup to try!
It smells like, OMG. Like…. just OMG.
(Sorry. That’s probably the best that my brain can do today)
But this tea deserves better I suppose. It tastes like fresh pastry from the oven, warm and gooey and sprinkled with cinnamon and other spices. There’s a touch of almond too and while I’m usually not excited about nuts, this just works perfectly.
I understand what the fuss is now.
Ok Bolder Breakfast, work your magic!!! I just finished Season 3 of Supernatural last night, around 2, and instead of going to bed like a super responsible person I HAD to watch the first ep of Season 4 to see how they were going to make things ok!
And I got to meet Castiel. Finally. Like cripes – I’ve heard that name bounced around the internet for ages with no reference. And now I get it. :) It only took my staying up til 3 to do so. :P (I’m basically a closet Supernatural watcher – I wait for my bf and daughter to be in bed and then go craaaaazy).
So 4 hours sleep might not have been the best decision when I am off to meet the lovely SIL today and do a tea swap and hang out! My eyes feel heavy, but I have all the tea and I’m excited and it’ll be great.
I gotta say though, bringing a toddler and a stroller complicates everything. (Will she be grumpy? Tired? Bored? Will we fit on the bus ok or get stuck waiting for one? Are the sidewalks clear enough for the stroller?) Some days I miss the freedom of just leaving the house with nothing but my wallet, keys and phone. HA!
But – you guys can see why I hermit, right? RIiiight?
Ok, time to finish this cup and move on to the next!
Noooooo, SIPDOWN. (114)
You guys know what this means? I have ZERO Butiki teas in my cupboard. Zilch. Nada. Nothing…
But… the upshot is my Butiki order will be in TO-MOR-ROW!
ETA: Or… maybe not. It was supposed to be here today, according to Canada Post, but it’s in Brampton with a delivery date of tomorrow. And now it says: "Canada Post processing error; item re-routed. Possible delay " AAARGh. So, I’m out of Butiki for longer than I’d hoped.
ETAA Oh wait. :P I forgot I had my Butiki teas from Amoda. /sheepishgrin
