drank Spiced Green by Adagio Teas

I got this in my green tea sampler from Adagio ages ago, and had quite forgotten about it. This is a delightful little tea! Light and smooth, and lightly spiced. Normally these spices (cinnamon, cardamon & ginger) are not ones I would think go in a green tea, but it is quite good. I love it when tea from the tea shelf surprises me

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 3 min, 0 sec

Love Kashmiri (green based) chais. Although I have no clue why Adagio has both this and “green chai” or masala chai and oriental spice for that matter. Seems reduntant… I wish they’d stop wasting inventory space and come out w/ new stuff. Then again I don’t get Adagio a lot of the time.

Carla

I haven’t really gotten into chais, so that’s probably why the spice combination is new to me. Usually I think of those spices as ones that go with something sweet, and since I never sweeten my green tea, I was just surprised I liked the combination.

Cofftea

Yeah I add milk to my masala chais (but I also drink them clean), but I just can’t fathom putting milk in my Kashmiri chai (chais are the only teas I ever put milk in) even though that’s how it’s traditionally prepared. I also always skip the sweetener in all chai (all tea for that matter), even though it’s traditional.

I forgot I had this tea, and it nicely surprised me today. Mellow and delicious, it reminded me of Rishi’s silver needle that I love.

The Tea Farm is giving away 2oz of dragon well free w/ any purchase if you’re interested in trying a different brand. I looove dragon well and can’t wait to try TTF’s version!

Tea 4 Health

This is my go-to-tea! I have always been a green tea fan, but since finding this dragonwell by Rishi, it is hands down my favorite. It a fantastic flavor profile that is smooth and un-intrusive. I enjoy at least a cup a day, normally upwards of 3 :)

This brewed a little bitter, I’m think next time I’ll only brew for 2 minutes

Sometimes sencha benefits from turning the temperature down a bit, too. I’ve never had H&S’s sencha, so it might not help at all, but I like to keep mine somewhere in the 170’s most of the time.

Cofftea

I prefer mine at 160 then play around w/ the leaf amount.

Carla

I got impatient waiting for the water to cool down, so the eh tea was entirely my fault

Cofftea

Haha! I can see where that’d happen Carla. I don’t have that problem because I heat it to that temp rather than boil it and let it cool.

Try 30 seconds at 170-180° for this tea. Then 45 and 60 seconds. Then spread out the next three infusions to 20 seconds and finally the last two at 30 seconds apart. I get a good 7-8 infusions from this tea almost every time. It’s my favorite Sencha so far.

I love tea, but hate jasmine and melon, and am always looking to try something new — which is why my tea collection is out of control!
