Very strong, pungent and astringent. Has a decent caffeine kick, but can be lip-puckeringly astringent.
I use it to power up weaker blends, but do not enjoy this stuff by itself.
Beautifully balanced smoke and flavor. Tao of Tea is in Portland and is an oasis of calm. The staff are superb.
Began drinking tea when I moved to New Zealand in 1984…..where the coffee was powdered and abysmal.
Came back to tea for its soothing properties and ritualistic preparation…….I like the zen-like time of prepping the pot etc….
Across the river from Portland, near enough to civilization but still among the rednecks…unfortunately
