This one I love. Had a cup last night, with a splash of milk. Strawberry, buttery-pastry amazingness. Luckily I have a fair bit of this left, because I’m going to be distraught when it’s gone. Divine yumminess.

Another one I’ve had several cups of, but seem to have neglected to log. Strangely so, because I loved it from the first sip.

Dry, this smells quite strongly of cinnamon, with a definite hint of strawberry lurking in the background. I gave it 4 minutes in boiling water, and added a little milk. Brewed, the strawberry comes over much more clearly, as it does in the taste. The cinnamon is still a big part of the flavour, but it seems to mellow out a little and combine with the sweet, vanilla like aftertaste to create a flavour that really is reminiscent of pastry, or pie crust. It’s somehow buttery and bakey without being cloying, and the juicy, tart strawberry flavour finishes the whole thing off perfectly.

This is one I’m definitely going to enjoy drinking for many cups to come. It’s the perfect combination of fruit (that tastes surprisingly natural), spicing, and whatever magic it is that makes the pie crust taste emerge. A pleasure to drink!

drank Peach Cardamom by 52teas

Backlog:

I really, really like this one! I love the way the peach and the cardamom work together. The peach tastes like a sweet, juicy peach, the cardamom adds just enough warmth to the cup, and the green tea is sweet and creamy.

Really, really good.

I steeped a hair over 2 minutes (the instructions said 2-3 and I was afraid it would be bitter), and it ended up a bit weaker than I would have liked. The fruity flavor did not seem distinctly mango and/or peach, but just had an overall frutiness about it. It might just be that my taste buds aren’t sensitive enough to different flavors. Anyway, it was my first SBT and I’m waiting to finish up this pitcher to try another!

This has been my iced tea of choice the last couple of days. Straight off, I agree with JoonSusanna about this. When I drank it yesterday, I mostly got a delicately peachy, maybe slightly apricotty taste. Today, after it spent last night in the fridge, I’m tasting more mango. Either way, it tastes great!

The flavouring here seems more delicate and natural than some of the other SBTs. Not that any of them are overly fake or synthetic tasting, but Rainbow Sherbet does not exist in nature. This one tastes exaclty like fresh, ripe, juicy fruit. Like I actually added squeezed juice was to the tea, which (of course) I didn’t.

I brewed this in the normal way — nearly 3 minutes in 2 cups of boiling water, then topped up to just under 2 litres with cold water. I’ve not had a dud yet, so I guess that really is the best way to do it. The tea base here is a little more noticable than usual, maybe because the flavouring is more subtle. That’s by no means a bad thing, though, as it’s delicious in itself.

Another winner, and another I’ll definitely repurchase this summer!

Additional notes: I wanted to try this hot, since I loved it so much cold in the summer. It may have been my favorite iced, among the teas I tried. I’m amazed that even though I let this one steep three minutes a few minutes after boiling and the leaves are so tiny, there really isn’t a strong astringency to the black tea. I was expecting a very strong flavor, but it doesn’t seem much different than when it is just steeped with cold water for a couple days. The plum flavor is a little bit different though… I can’t tell how. I love it either way though! It is reminding me of Harney’s Tower of London or Paris which I vaguely thought of today, so it makes sense I would pick this one today. I have enough left for a couple steeps!

I’m very excited to get my mysterious perk from the 52Teas campaign. I can’t wait to see which 12 teas they are sending samples of (I really hope one is the Candy Corn I’m dying to try since these are being sent in October). I’m guessing the samples will be much like the one this tea is in that were exclusively sold by iheartteas – Rachel? I think? They are paper pouches that have a few teaspoons in them. I just wish the campaign had been more successful for 52Teas! I kind of feel guilty that I’m getting the samples.

Another sample from Rachel’s sale. thank you! I was actually surprised that most of the 52Teas samples were ones I hadn’t tried before. I’ve had little samples here and there for a ton of 52Teas.

Two teaspoons in a quart for a couple days — not as much flavor as I would have liked (the dried leaves actually smell very plum) but the flavor that is here is delicious. This is a cut-tear-curl black tea so of every black tea iced, this probably would have the most flavor. Also, the black tea probably tastes like plum on its own, or lends to the flavor a bit. I really like it! Very nice! I don’t know if it is because it is 90 degrees here or because I really like this, but I almost want to make another quart of this right now. MOORREE! But I just put Neapolitan in my mason jar, so maybe next time!

I was hesitant to taste this one because I’m not a huge caramel or toffee person. But I really enjoyed it. It was a good black tea to start off my morning. The caramel toffee was almost an after taste which I really enjoyed. Another successful sample tested:) almost finished with all my samples from my mystery swaps from June.

Sip down! Finished this off tonight with a cold brew. So delicious! Little sad to see this one go, but also ok with it since winter is coming and my cold brew consumption will start going down. :)

back log from yesterday. I had a cold brew of this and man it’s pretty darn tasty. so much do that i dumped the rest of it in to a cold brew to cool overnight for today, since it’s supposed to be another hot day! this is vastly superior as a cold brew.

Last tea of the evening. I’m having this one tonight because i need to drink more 52 teas to continue that mini goal…AND i don’t want caffeinated teas..AND because i finally got around to splitting this into another bag for Kittenna So it’s all hanging outside of it’s original packaging saying DRINK ME! I also wanted to have this one as a hot brew again in case my preferences have changed. This is growing on me i think. Maybe i just need to brew it longer and then let it sit so it comes down in temperature. IE. Hot brew, then cool. This is still pretty much a watermelon tea, but i’m ok with that since, while i like mango A LOT, i haven’t had any water melon teas that i can remember, if at all.

Kittenna

I can’t wait to try this iced.

so another 52 Tea as part of operation 52tea… i brewed this one up cold and i was right in that i vastly prefer this cold brewed. The taste of this however is more watermelon than mango but i do still taste both. I’m glad i found a way to enjoy this more than hot brewed or kittena would have gotten a free .90 oz from me as this was a shared order tea lol

I’m glad it’s good cold! That’s what I was hoping for, and also why I picked up Watermelon Blackberry HB from momo.

Yeah, I’d say the title of this one screams, “ice me!”

Another tea from today – thought that i’d try this one out in celebration of Canada Day! hot, it’s mostly watermelon. I’m curious how the flavour will change as it cools down. i suspect though, that this will be a better cold brewed blend.

drank All Citrus by 52teas

I was in need of an extra boost this morning and this tea was just calling to me. Given all of the citrus flavors I was surprised at how well they all worked together. At first sip the lemon and lime were at the forefront with the orange and pineapple coming through at the back of the palate. With each sip more of the orange flavoring came through and really melded with the lemon. It was an especially busy morning so my tea ended up getting cold on me but wow, the flavor really popped once cooled. This leads me to think that this tea would be incredible iced and I just can’t wait to give it a try. :)

I have nothing to say about this except … How do you brew this to make it taste good?

I had it this past weekend while camping and I didn’t like it. I thought it was the rough conditions as well as the different water. I bought spring water but there was a lot of mineral salt in it so I thought it affected the tea and made it unpleasant.

I tried this again today and it is bitter and it has a chemical taste. Not a faint chemical taste but quite a strong one. I added agave and caramel creamer to make it palatable. I read someone is steeping it at lower temps to combat the bitterness so I will try it next time. If it doesn’t get better, it’s getting swapped/gifted.

52 teas black typically = slightly lower than boiling for 2 mins.

Nxtdoor

Thanks Sil. I will try it this way soon, maybe tomorrow. I need to find out quickly if this is something I can enjoy.

Sil

NP. I haven’t tried this one but that seems to be the way to go with most of frank’s black based teas for the ones i have had.

I’m not sure I have anything useful to add about this tea that hasn’t already been said. It’s one of my favorite 52teas blends.
It’s sweet, it’s coconut, it’s a bit cheesecake esque. I really like it and am sad that this is the last of my package. Would consider ordering more if I had the opportunity.

Am I really the first to have tried this? Really???

(Also, sorry if I broke the picture – I cannot seem to add images to steepster for the life of me!)

Anyway, I couldn’t resist the buy 10, save $1 per package deal on the SBTs, especially after how amazing the rainbow sherbet tea was when iced. They all sound so very good that I had to just blindly reach in the package and pick one out rather than agonize over a decision. This was first pick, so I steeped it up according to Frank’s directions and it was ready to go instantly.

Note: I sweetened this less than my typical amount for a 1/2 gallon (3 tbsp. vs. 4) and this was definitely a good choice – there is a lot of natural sweetness from the fruit. When it was first made I felt like the peach stood out more in terms of flavor, but now that its sat a day in the fridge I get more mango. The black tea in this base is balanced perfectly with whichever fruit is strongest, though. Just strong enough so that you know you’re drinking tea, but also smooth and willing to share the spotlight.

This ones a winner! I’m excited to see which one I’ll pick next!

Thanks go to iHeartTea for this one, it came from her sell off sale.

This is such a unique combination, I’m not sure that I’ve seen cucumber in tea before, but I sure couldn’t wait to try it. When I first opened the package I was hit with the wonderful smell of strawberries. It just smelled so good it left my mouth watering. I only have a sample of this, and I know it is older, but it still smells very fresh.

I made my first cup of this hot and once steeped you could still smell the strong scent from the strawberries. This instantly made me wonder how this would work as a cold steep and before I sat down to enjoy my cup I took the rest of my sample off to make a pitcher up for later.

This was really yummy and I’m a little sad that I’m already out. I can pick up the barest hint of cucumber hidden amongst the juicy strawberry and the white base. This was really good hot and I can’t wait to try my cold steep tomorrow.
