Very interesting mellow sencha, and my first ever shincha! I don’t think I’d buy any more of it for the price, but it was good to try =)

This is my first time writing comments on Steepster. I ordered this tea online based on the great reviews here and this tea lives up to them. Delightfully creamy and rich – I was able to get six steeping from a single serving. Not the cheapest of teas but if you factor in how many great cups you can get it is really reasonably priced.

I just did a blind taste test between a sample I got of this Milk Oolong from American Tea room, with “Milk Oolong Full-Leaf” from republic of tea. I brewed both following the instructions that came with the American Tea room tea (2 min @ 175). A while ago I felt like they had very similar flavors and indeed when I did the blind test (with the help of my fiancee) my two favorites out of 4 cups from the two teas were one from each! I do like this tea quite a bit, but since the republic of tea version is so similar, and $13 for 3.5oz rather than $39 for 2oz, I’ll stick with the republic of tea version!

Wow, this is truly an amazing tea _ I was not expecting to like it as much as I did!
I must have brewed this perfectly – there was a sweet honey-suckle taste. When I mean that it was floral, it was truly floral. You can’t miss it. Wow.
I used their suggestion and steeped for 7 minutes.

This is definitely not what I expected =O It is WAY more flavored than I thought it’d be!!! It’s so crazy.. I thought it’d be like a Taiwanese oolong that was just slightly more creamy. This smells exactly like buttered popcorn. This is a real treat for anyone who likes tea, but I’m not sure I will buy more in the future due to the price.

My cousin gave me sample of this tea and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s a very sweet smelling tea that has a buttery taste and a subtle sweetness to it. I did three steepings of this tea and by the third, the tea definitely transformed so it lingers on my tongue longer. I need to buy some more…

I’ve always wanted to try a Milk Oolong, which ones do you recommend? I’ve noticed you’ve tried several so you must enjoy it quite a bit. :))

I would recommend trying either the American Tea Room or DavidsTea for Milk Oolong. I’ve been going through other brands and I’m a little disappointed at the lack of boldness in my Milk Oolong.

So the ones you recommend are bolder, more to your liking? I’ve been avoiding my teas bc I’ve needed to find my water filters, and finally I’ll be posting reviews today! I’ve got a new Harney order that’s been waiting for me.:)) They have a Blue Lavender that I had to try. I really got it bc you said sometimes lavender can be soapy….right? Well, I just had to see if I could understand what you meant. Plus, that lavender tea on their site looked so good. The first tea from my H & S order reviewed will be Hao Ya B……..look for it. :))

This is tasty!!! Love it!
and that is saying alot for someone who has a meh affair with green tea. Thank you so much to QuiltGuppy for sharing this lovely tea with me.
Out of all the greens I’ve ever had, Genmaicha has always been a fave, well as much as it can be considering my preferences.
In truth, I really prefer corn tea over most GMs but I think I would take this one over a corn tea any day :)
It’s rich and round, nutty and ricey… and has a most pleasing sweet finish.
As I understand it, traditional GM’s used whatever leaf was leftover after the elite took their share, and since there was a limited supply, the rice was added so that it lasted longer. (correct me if I am wrong here! this is hearsay on my end)
Well, this tea… I am sure it uses a high quality leaf. It’s smooth and lacking any of the regular scratchiness I find in most GMs.
Yummmm…

EDIT:
I’m on the third steep and it’s only gotten sweeter! Wow. I am in love…

The scent of the steeped tea is very light and floral. It is also sugary-sweet.

The taste when very hot is almost unnoticeable, I’ll have to wait for it to cool for better tasting.

As it cools the floral notes come out along with a smooth, coating feeling with a hint of the seedy/nuttiness common to Oolongs. The floral tones are the majority of the flavor, for sure. The more it cools the more intense the flowers get, but never perfume-ish. Very pleasant.

I’ve not been very impressed with the Oolongs I ordered from American Tea Room. This one is quite nice and my favorite, easily, out of those I have.

We are most sorry that you have not like our teas. Most of our teas – especially our oolongs are very highly regarded. If I might inquire have you been following our steeping instructions on the label and using spring or filtered water? I find our Bao Zhong very appealing and it is among the favorites of all of our teas, but then again that is just me.

Forgot what I’d previously rated this when I found it in my stash while looking for something I don’t normally drink. So here goes another try of it, steeped a little longer than before.

I like it better than before and am raising my rating, but it’s not at all a favorite.

The scent from this one reaches you from a couple of feet away. It reminds me of burnt walnuts.

I forgot to give a per-sip review of this one, so going to give a final summary:

I’m underwhelmed by this Oolong. It wasn’t one I’d have a second time just because there was nothing great about it.
