The only thing that might make this better is if I substituted the 2oz milk I just put in it with 2oz of Bailey’s! Hmm, maybe tonight…

Stephanie

I like how you think ;)

Ok, well I didn’t stay home and drink Scottish Caramel pu-erh with Baileys. I did go so a fun Irish horror/comedy called “Grabbers” though, about drunk locals and Garda fighting monsters on an island off the Irish coast. Starring Richard Coyle (“Jeffrey” from Coupling). I’m not into horror or gore, but I enjoyed it (esp. the amazing scenery!). It’s not as smart as Shaun of the Dead, but I’d say it’s in the same vein.

Every time I drink this, I wonder why I ever drink anything else.

1 tsp in a 10 oz mug for 3-5 min, with a ~10 sec rinse. It brewed up very dark — I was worried it would be bitter. But it wasn’t, just very strong. I decided to set half the mug aside and added about 3 oz. milk to the other half to make it more like a latte. Perfect! Full-flavored, sweet and thick and complex. The description of why pu-erh works as a “scottish” blend seems apt. This was a wonderful afternoon cuppa that I was still thinking about and craving days later.

I’ve almost finished this tea without even rating it yet! I’ve gone back to this one many times to make a latte with, it’s really great for that. The dry leaves smell mainly of whipped cream and very little strawberry, but the tea itself has a really sweet strawberry aroma. I’m not really seeing a whole lot of pastry or cream, it’s really just bursting with fresh strawberry flavors. The cup does become somewhat creamy with a little milk and sweetener. This is a nice tea, and I will probably keep it stocked so that I can have a cup (or a latte) every once in awhile. It tastes like summertime to me!

-Dry tea has medium black tea leaves and white and green pieces of flower.
-Dry leaves smell heavily of cream with a hint of strawberry. Tea liquor aroma is of sweet strawberries.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium brown color.
-Strong fresh strawberry flavor with a sweet finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Mostly strawberry flavor, little pastry flavor noticeable. Becomes somewhat creamy with a little added milk.

I need to get this … in search of coupon codes I go…

Josie Jade

I’ve not seen a coupon for Angelina’s before. It’s a cute little tea store in a nearby town. If I’m not mistaken, I believe that Culinary Teas has a lot of the same blends, and it seems like it could be from the same source. I am actually going to Winston Salem this Saturday, would you like for me to pick some Strawberry Shortcake up for you? I’d be more than happy to, it will give me a reason to get to go to Angelina’s!

ashmanra

There is a tea shop in Winston? GAH! Where? What?

Josie Jade

Haha, yes! It’s in a little shopping center off of Stratford Road, in the area across from Trader Joes. :) Most of their teas seem to be listed online (www.AngelinasTeas.com).

Janefan

I was just in Winston Saturday too, with a couple of my tea-loving friends (from a former Meetup.com tea group). We didn’t go to the Angelina’s shop, but we did visit Wade’s table at the Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate event and Old Salem.

Josie Jade

Oh I didn’t know that there was a Coffee, Tea and Chocolate Event! Darn, I wish I had known, I would love to go to something like that! Is it an annual event? Old Salem has so many cute little things going on!

drank Kiwi by Angelina's Teas
358 tasting notes

I am slowly losing any motivation to have a productive day. It has been pouring rain all day and I went to class, so I feel like that’s enough productivity for the day. I’m going to make a cup of this tea and have lunch and see where the day goes. . . either a nap with the pups and some reading or starting an essay for english, blah.

I had been wanting to find a good kiwi flavored black tea for awhile when I stumbled across this one at Angelina’s. I eat a kiwi almost every day for breakfast. I had a kiwi black tea before from a swap, but it wasn’t labeled, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the source. I like that most of Angelina’s teas that I’ve tried so far seem to be pretty good quality considering the reasonable pricing ($2.14/ounce). This tea smells very mildly of tart fruit. The flavor is more sweet than tart, and although it is a little artificial tasting it isn’t bad overall. It would probably be good iced as a summertime tea. I will probably keep searching for my perfect kiwi tea, but this one will be good to have on hand in the meantime. :)

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves and twigs with light green pieces of flower.
-Dry leaves smell mildly of tart fruit. Tea liquor aroma is of sweet kiwi.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium golden brown color.
-Slightly tart kiwi flavor with a sweet finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Sweet juicy kiwi flavor.

We woke up to cold rain and ice this morning. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my class will be cancelled so I can stay home and cuddle with the pups/kitties but it does’t look promising.

I saw this the last time I was at Angelina’s Teas and I thought I would try it since I usually enjoy the grand marnier flavor in desserts. The dry leaves smell a lot less strong than I expected, just a light citrusy aroma. The flavor reminds me more of grapefruit than orange, it has that slight tartness to it that makes your mouth pucker. Adding sweetener brings out more of the fresh, juicy orange notes. I think that adding a little milk really makes this tea just perfect, but it would probably be good iced also.

-Dry blend has large greenish-black tea leaves with yellow petals and pieces of orange peel.
-Dry leaves smell lightly of citrus. Tea liquor aroma is of malty sweet orange.
-Tea liquor is a clear reddish brown color.
-Slightly tart orange flavor with a juicy citrus finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Tart and juicy orange flavor.

This tea is nicely comforting, especially on a cold winters day. It smells strongly of maple syrup, and I was worried that the blueberry flavor would be overshadowed, but it is surprisingly strong. There is a nice, lingering true blueberry taste. It reminds me of blueberry pancakes with warm maple syrup, yummy!

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves with small blue, white and yellow petals.
-Dry leaves smell strongly of sugary maple syrup and sweet blueberries. Tea liquor aroma is of malty black tea and blueberry pancakes with maple syrup.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark brown color.
-Slightly bitter maple flavor with a sweet lingering blueberry finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Strong blueberry flavor. Reminiscent of blueberry pancakes with warm maple syrup.

I really like this tea. I find it to be mild, even when (accidentally) left to steep for too long, and very drinkable with milk or black.

Not bad, but not interesting; a middle-of-the-road tea in every way. I didn’t have control over the steep temperature or time, though; it might do better with cooler water.

This is probably my favourite tea. It is certainly a staple of my tea drawer and I buy it in large enough quantities that my tea guy assumed I was buying more to give to people. The bergamot compliments the green tea perfectly, and it manages to hold up to several steepings. It’s perfect with a just a small dollop of honey in the cup. I’ll drink it just about any time of day – it’s one of those teas that I can totally lose myself in.

This is my absolute favorite green tea.

First impressions – beautiful rolled leaves and a rich vegetal aroma. When steeped, the leaves unfurl and the liquor takes on a wonderful aroma.

Flavour – This tea has an amazing bold taste, coupled with a slight bitterness that I rather appreciate. I enjoy this tea with just a drop of honey, and it is the go-to green tea when there is company.

Loveability – This is the tea that makes it a necessity for me to return to Un Amour des Thés. LOVE IT!
