mmmm picked this one out of the line up since I’m getting close to the end of it and it’s a lighter tea that i thought would balance out the black tea i also brought in to work with me. This is still one of my happy teas from Stacy, though I really should get around to trying to cold brew it one of these days. I think it might be a decent cold brew in summer.
mmmm second morning tea! I need to stop looking at the internet for tea. I keep wanting to place more orders and i REALLY don’t need more tea. I think part of the draw for me though, is a)getting mail and b)having new things to try out! I’ve made a resolution this year though to try and get my cupboard down to 100 teas by black friday of 2013 so that I can place a few orders at that time lol
This tea is still one delicious tea! I find it soothing and love how stacy has captured the cantalope flavour. It’s not wonder this one was winning awards. Still really happy i took a chance and picked this one up even if the name totally threw me off.
I know how you feel. I was just sorting through my cupboard, putting things away and I was overwhelmed that I have four different packets of Laoshan Black, three harvest of Verdant’s Tieguanyin etc. I was going through my blends and was glad to find I still had some Gardens of Anxi because I wanted to share it with a friend but truly surprised I had a serving left of Taiping Temple Green and Lavender Earl Green, must drink those two soon. I have like a dozen pu’erhs I haven’t even tried, teas from swaps and I have an order on its way from Butiki?!?! Must stop!
Autumn…i can’t stop. lol I tried that..lasted for all of about a day. I managed to get from 193 teas to 158 in a two week period but i’ve got so many unopened/tried teas in my cupboard that it’s going to slow down getting through things. On top of that i have tea coming from S&V; Verdant; Butiki; Sloane; Upton and Lupicia! (thankfully all of these are sort of shares with Indigobloom and.or Kittenna)
8 maids a milking! I am loving this tea for the 12 days of christmas tea swap. I’ve had this tea before but it’s one of those teas that i often passby because it doesn’t seem right for whatever mood i’m in. The trouble is, as soon as i actually sit down to try it, i fall in love with it again and wonder why i haven’t had it in so long. haha
This really is a wonderful balance of fruit and cream. Thank you for the reminder of how delicious this tastes The Purrfect Cup!
mmm afternoon tea to go with my lunch. I’m glad theres another order of this one on the way – i snagged a summer sampler before they went away to restock on this as well as try a few new blends. Today, this one reminds me of spring…something to look forward to while fall starts to settle in here.
So I have to admit, despite the wonderful reviews of this tea, I was a little skeptical given that I’m not a huge cantalope fan. BUT! as my very first tea from butiki teas – colour me happy and impressed! This is a great tea! This tea is subtle while still being packed with flavor.
Preparation
I’ve had this several times, but I don’t think I’ve logged it yet. This is another really good one from Butiki! It tastes so much like a raspberry truffle and it is so rich, yet guilt free. Yum!
Oooh, Kittenna sent me another tea on my shopping list! Woot!! And this is my first Butiki tea; I’m so excited! I feel like I say that about every tea. Tea tasting is just a bundle of excitement for me, what can I say?
The leaves are really neat looking. Tightly twisted, spindly, curled black and gold leaves. Time to brew it up and see what it tastes like!
Wow, this brewed up really light! It’s a very light golden color. I haven’t liked Kenyan teas in the past, but this one is different. It does have that slight aroma and taste that I don’t know how to describe but that I recognize as Kenyan. But it’s not off-putting like I usually find it. It’s good!
Like the liquor color, the taste is light. That’s not to say flavorless. There’s lots of flavor. It’s just a light, subdued cup of tea with mild astringency. No bitterness though. The description says cocoa and milk chocolate notes. I’m not getting any of those. I can imagine a pear undertone, but I’m not sure how much is truly in the cup vs in my imagination.
The second steep for 4.5 minutes brewed up much darker. Now it’s a reddish amber color. The flavor is pretty much the same, except maybe a bit less astringent. I’m not overwhelmed by awesomeness, but this was a fun tea to try. Thanks again Kittenna for sending me a sample!
