Looking for a tasty puer blend? This one is up there. Not as good as Lupicia’s puer blend, but this Marmalade Puerh blend is better than Adagios and many others I’ve tried.
It is zesty, tangy citrus, just like a rindy marmalade, candied orange notes, hint of sweet licorice, with an earthy background of puer. The puer isn’t funky and the licorice is really subtle.
However, this is provided you steeped it well – this tea is fussy to brew. It weighs a lot, and if you overleaf you will get something too licorice and sludgy. Best is 6 grams, 10oz water, 3 minutes. No rinse.

This sample i got from ifjuly loong time ago. I dunno why i didnt try it.
Today I decided to run side by side with Golden Monkey by H&S
This tea is lovely. Sweet, flavorful and simply nice. Rich with sweet potatoes and malt but not heavy.
H&S version is heartier, maltier and earthier. its very rich cup but today I think it was too rich for me. And earth flavor distracted me for some reason. some peppery notes emerged as it cooled at the end of the sip.
i resteeped both teas [email protected] Meh. Didnt care for either. Kinda flat and boring.
Im glad i finally tasted both, long overdue.
Thank you ifjuly for the awesome samples you sent me. Still havent finished your endless box ;-)
Another one of my favorite teas. I keep exploring other greens then coming back to White Monkey Paw (Bai Mao Hou). I like to see if there’s any greens that I could possibly like more, but White Monkey Paw has a smoothness that seems to be innate and just not duplicated by other green prep methods. I’ve had the White Monkey at Adagio which was excellent as well, but I’m not sure if it’s the original source or what, but the White Monkey Paw from California Tea House is by far my favorite.
Pass the Stash
I love waking up my dog by placing a bit of food in front of her nose. Watching her nose twitch and then her surprised happy face when she finally wakes up to eat is is just so adorable. Someone should make a human alarm like this. Waking up would be so much easier if someone stuck pancakes under my nose every morning:P
This tea smells, looks , and tastes like a white tea. The melon flavor is really light— I would definitely say that it is honeydew. I’m not detecting any yogurt flavoring but it is a tad creamy.
I read another recent review on this that made me pull my sample out to try. I am sorry to say it just doesn’t appeal to me. It tastes so GREEN. I really don’t like my teas to taste too green. This is probably due to an undeveloped palate, I’m willing to concede. I’m having a hard time making it through the cup. I am sure that nothing is wrong with it, it’s just not a good match for me.
