I am usually not one for any kind of flavored teas (except Earl Greys and jasmin), but I found Cha’s Golden Mango as an (third) exception to my self-imposed rules against flavorings of any kind.
The mango part of this tea is strong yet supports the green tea underneath surprisingly well, instead of simply overpowering it. You can also taste fruit too, instead of just inhaling the aroma from the steam.
I found that this tea, lightly sweetened, keeps great company for savory snacks and sandwiches.
I got a bag of this from Nicole Martin at the NYC meetup this week, and I’m drinking it at work right now. It’s a very straightforward black, and fairly robust. I am catching some very faint honey notes on occasional sips, and there’s also the tiniest bit of grassiness. I would’ve guessed it was an Assam; according to the company’s website, it’s actually Assam blended with Nilgiri. I’m enjoying this, although I don’t think it’s something I’d buy (just because there are so many more distinctive black teas out there).
I’ve been drinking this one all day long and it’s evening now and it’s really hot, so I decided to try it iced. Haven’t tried an iced tea in a long time, so this was a refreshing experience for me. And I must say, this one works great when iced.
I added some lemon slices and sugar. Tastes great, really bright, cheers me up in the pre-exam evening!
Sometimes I get lazy, so I just steep a few tea bags in a pot.
Pure Black by Cha Teas is a great black tea, without any other aromas or tastes, just pure black goodness. Sometimes I can feel a slight hint of bergamot, but it’s a very tiny nice note in the overall base flavor. The tea has a very strong and bright taste, even a little rough and roasty.
I like this one for long periods of work when I don’t want to be distracted by any complex flavors or tastes but still want to drink tea. Also it is great to use as a base for different mixes and herbal/fruit additions. I personally like to throw some dehydrated blueberries into the pot to give a sweet aftertaste/
