I love this EG…

The bergamot tastes almost fresh in this one, and the black tea base is superb. Choice’s bagged teas really are excellent. I left the bag in the water for the whole time and the flavor was perfect the whole time.

I rather like this Earl Grey. The bergamot is nice and mellow. This one is almost as good as loose tea. (Even though it’s not.) The black tea base does exactly what it is supposed to do: provide a solid foundation for the bergamot without dominating the cup.

Perfect!

I got this tea bag from my college’s cafeteria.

I simply adore it! It’s the perfect balance between black tea and bergamot. And it’s organic. It smells tangy and citrusy, but the tea itself isn’t astringent. It’s smooth and mellow and orangey. Sooo good.

Um, wow. This tea is FABULOUS. The first Earl Grey I ever tried was Tazo’s, and I didn’t find it pleasant at all. I thought it tasted like soap. In fact, I was hesitant to even give Earl Grey another chance at all. This kind, however, is a game-changer. The bergamot has the perfect amount of presence, without overpowering the whole tea. I don’t really taste the lavender, but perhaps it’s there to cut some of the bergamot’s acidity? In any even, my hat goes off to you, Choice! You’ve cured me of my Earl Grey aversion, and I will definitely be drinking this again.

A review of Wild Forest Black Tea by Choice Organic Tea

Company: Choice Organic
Tea Name: Wild Forest Black
Tea Type/Varietal: black
Region: South East Asia
Steeping Vessel/Amt Leaf: cup/ tea bag
Liquor Color: dark red
Leaf Characteristic:

Steeping:

1st Steeping:
Water Temp: 200 Fahrenheit
Time: 5 minutes

Using freshly boiled water I put one tea bag in my cup and left it to steep for five minutes. The tea’s color is a dark red, velvety when placed directly under the light. The tea’s aroma is mildly roasted scent and when I sip of the tea it is wonderfully hot and heady roasted cup of tea. The tea taste strong and is not at all astringent; in fact it is dry and wet. Because my cup of teas is always hot, the wetness is not discern straight away as well as the dryness that is felt upon swallowing since the hot tea burns first and cannot be enjoyed until slightly cooler than this drinker prefers of it.
-————————————

Overall tasting notes: smooth, hearty cup of tea that is dry when swallowed …tea leaves a drying effect on the palette.

Cup’s characteristic: roasted cup of tea

Liquor color: dark red

Taste: dry and freshly cup of tea

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 0 sec

I’ve been on a loose leaf green tea kick, so I’m pleasantly surprised at how good this is (and not just for a bag tea). I brewed it for 3 minutes at exactly 175 degrees (bwahaha my new kettle lets me heat water to precisely the temperature I want/need). The color really is sunny! The brewed smell is vegetal and sweet. The taste is vegetal, a tad astringent, and even a little buttery. The astringency gets stronger as the tea cools and it starts leaving a dry feeling in my mouth. Still drinkable, but not as good as when the tea is hot.

overall, this is not something that I would go out of my way to stock, but I wouldn’t mind having this if offered.

Oh, and btw, sipdown!

drank Genmaicha by Choice Organic Teas
39 tasting notes

Had this again over the weekend. I have to admit that I’m hoarding my last few tea bags of this because I don’t want to buy more tea (I have enough and I’m moving in 1.5 weeks) but don’t have any other genmaichas in my cupboard. Hopefully I can sipdown some of my Della Terra samples to justify placing a Verdant order for their genmaichas….. :)

Had this tea a few hours ago to soothe my sore throat. This tea was the first genmaicha I ever tried – I really enjoy the roasty, malty flavor of this tea. Overall this is a great bagged tea.

I just bought my second box a few days ago while looking for a different tea.

Can’t say it’s anything spectacular, but perhaps a good staple tea.

drank Darjeeling by Choice Organic Teas

I arrived early to work, so I went to the nearest place to fortify myself with more tea. Unfortunately I wasn’t early enough to go to the really good coffee shop, with the nice selection of tea, so I had to settle for a place that has all its tea in a basket near the front, that you pick out what you want and dump hot water on it.
Sigh.
So I picked this, as I like Darjeeling, and I’d never tried this brand before.
Meh. Its drinkable, but not exciting. One dimensional and weak. Will I never find a truly exceptional Darjeeling?

K S

Not in a basket where you pour hot water on it. :)

Margaret’s Hope is pretty awesome, and I was only having 2nd flush! I imagine first must be wonderful! And Harney and Sons has some great ones, I think one is called Punjab? I should look it up!

Rosehips

Ohh, thanks Ashmanra, I will look those up.

If you message me your address I’ll send you the Butiki Giddhapar Darjeeling I have. I had it once and it wasn’t my kind of tea. I might have just one more cup to make up my mind about it, but I’d rather it go to someone who likes darjeeling.

Rosehips

Thank you, Fuzzy_Peachkin! I will do that.
