I’ve been thinking about it for months now but haven’t had the guts to actually do it. I want to start painting again. I stopped a while ago due to complicated reasons. But I feel time is right now. Just need to kick myself in the petuli and get my “clutter closet” in order, where all the painting gears are.
You know that space in your home where things get cluttered over the years and one day you open it and think, what the hell happened in there? Well that’s the closet I’m talking about. Am I the only one with such a problem?
Well I was up at 5h30 this morning, thinking, you can do this girl, it’s early and will take just a couple of hours. Just have a cup of delicious tea and read a little before you start. Several hours later, still sipping good tea and reading. WTF?? Come on fairy, gather some energy and just do it already!
Think this Guayusa combo might help? I just mixed whatever I had left of Good Morning Sunshine in the Tangerine Creamsicle jar. I made a large pot and hoping the Guayusa will kick in soon.
Beside its high energy concentration, Guayusa is delicious. These blends from Butilki are some of the best I have tried. There’s something about citrus and Gayusa that makes the flavours just explode! It is so fresh and bright, should have had it right from the start, my closet would be in order and I’d be painting by now!!!
Oh well, it’s never too late!
Thanks Butiki for being part of my creativity project!
Ohhhhh delicious, delicious tea. Can you believe that I forgot this tea even existed?! Crazy. Anyhow, It was amazing today. Favourite chocolate orange tea, hands down. Eventually I’ll order more, but thankfully I still have enough for a few more cups. The chocolate just blends so well with the base and the orange is absolutely lovely… definitely more fruity than peel (I don’t care for peel). Mmm.
I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to drink this tea as it’s super precious—JustJames was wonderfully generous and sent me some despite it being a custom blend from Butiki he worked hard with Stacy to perfect and it’s not otherwise available. Tonight was finally ideal—lots of time to relax and focus on it, and it’s bracingly cold but clear outside, the perfect time to feel grateful you’re holed up at home warm and comfy.
And it was perfect. This is splendid—creamy and rich but somehow not too heavy, there’s still a lovely sense of lightness somehow. The smell is a wonderful synthesis of banana and sweetness, miles away from candy runts artificial cloyingness, somehow evoking both freshness and softness. You get the sense of the natural floral sweetness of banana and the toffee/praline is present but never overly sugary, just adds a wonderful toasted edge. Love this, feel so lucky to have had an opportunity to try it. Thank you JustJames!
P.S. Forgot to mention something in my notes today…I’ve been throwing myself into Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel for the first time (I know!) thanks to a dear friend’s suggestion. Well, I love Giles to pieces already and also love celadon-colored kitchenware so that mug he regularly drinks tea from intrigued me. Went down a rabbit hole and learned it’s part of a line of vintage restaurantware made my Anchor Hocking, their Fire King Jadeite line. Today all the pieces I bid on on eBay arrived and I’m using them to drink my evening tea! The internet is so great sometimes—I’m the sort of person who, especially since relocating to the South, has zero luck finding such treasures on my own in walk-in spots. Whee. Thanks to James for a sample of his special tea!
I was going to save it for the Dr. Who Xmas special, but was craving something a little sweet, so I drank it today instead.
It really does have layers of flavors, kind of weaving in & out. It mostly reminds me of Caramel Vanilla Assam, but then here comes a hint of coconut, & as it cooled I really noticed the banana, along with a cookie like taste. All in all, it’s a tasty blend, although probably not something I’d purchase, as it left me with a scratchy throat,
but still nice to sample! Thanks James!
Well three things are causing sadness in my life at this moment:
1. I have a paper due at midnight that I have been writing since yesterday. That means no sleep and I really like my sleep. Plus, paper writing is never fun especially when I only have 8 pages to address the ever-so-broad question, “What is the meaning and significance of religious freedom as a human right?” for a class called Religion and Human Rights.
2. I have been checking the tracking number on my BF Herbal Infusions order and as of last night it said it was “processed at local delivery facility” at 8:43 Sunday morning. When I checked today, expecting it to say out for delivery, it said “processed at local delivery facility” at 10:42 this morning. How many times must this package process before it comes to me?!?!
3. This is a sipdown which means no more Hello Sweetie for me until Stacy makes some more :(
In light of all the sadness, I just really wanted something that would make me smile and Hello Sweetie was the first thing that came to mind. So, this cup is bittersweet as it is delicious as always and that only makes me realize just how much it will be missed. Oh well, nothing to do now but savor the cup and get back to paper writing. Thank you JustJames for providing me a little ray of sunlight on this gloomy afternoon.
ETA: So I just noticed I have been way underleafing this (as in 1.5 tsp in 12 oz) everytime I made it and it was still amazingly flavorful. Hmmm….
I have been hoarding what I had of this tea because I feared the sample JustJames sent me would be gone and I would never have this amazing tea again. However, when Stacy said she most likely will be selling this blend I decided that what good was hoarding a tea if I could never enjoy it. So today I am indulging in this decadent masterpiece.
This cup is pure coconutty-banana-caramel-toffee-goodness! The flavors simultaneously shine on their owns and combine perfectly to make a delicious cup. It will be nice when I can actually buy more than just a few cups to enjoy. Until then, I have one cup of dry leaf left and a couple of resteeps to get me by. Thank you JustJames for selflessly sharing this with me – personally I think I might have hoarded it for myself because it is just sooo good.
Well, hello there! You’re the deliciousness that obliterated all other smells coming from all the various tea swaps, packages and gifts I’ve had on my desk the past few days. Creamy, perfect coconut. Even before steeping, I knew I’d LOVE this tea.
And truly, it is perfect. JustJames, I adore you, and now even more so for working with Stacy to create this amazingness. Thank you so much for the generous sample.
To me, this tastes like buttery coconut in a cup. It’s so buttery, I’m actually massaging it into my lips as a moisturizer right now. I feel decadent, it is lovely and sweet and slightly vegetal, and there’s zero sugar needed. As it cools, I get more of a real coconut flavor as well as the tea itself, however it’s still lovely and evolving by the minute.
For the record: add me to the list of folks who would also buy this in larger quantities, should it be made available to the public for sale.
SWEET COCONUTTY GOODNESS! Oh man oh man, I loves me some coconut, and this tea takes the cake. The banana and assam, too…its just perfect! It tastes like super creamy toasted coconut pudding, with banana toffee crunch. Or maybe a buttery toasted coconut pound cake with banana cream pudding trifle. drool I would totally buy this one, for the record. I think I prefer it to everyone’s beloved caramel vanilla assam!
I am drinking it straight this time, but with the rest of my sample I’m definitely going to try adding cream and sugar. I bet it will be heavenly! Thanks for the sample JustJames and thanks for creating this blend Stacy! :D
Ok, so writing this tasting note just after finishing my last sip, just so that it’s all fresh in my mind.
I’m so excited to finally be tearing into the package just James sent me; I do what a lot of you do, and “save” my good or excitement-worthy teas for when I’m not stressed out, able to give them my attention, or am feeling celebratory. I really need to stop doing that though, come to think of it. so many teas just sit there, waiting for “the right moment” and that’s not right, yo.
So this was probably the tea i was excited for the most. In the bag, I could smell the sweet toffee, as well as the buttery creamy scent that is slightly reminiscent of Butiki’s caramel vanilla. But of course, they use the same base, and the creamy wonderfulness is Stacy’s signature anyway, so I ought not be surprised.
I tossed some cream and sugar into a cup, and set to work. I brewed for about three and a half minutes, and lifted the basket out and inhaled. The scent was spot on: I could still smell the toffee and butteriness, and if I inhaled deeply enough, a trace of coconut. And then it was just love at first sip and then some. The buttery taste of creamy caramel or assam is there, along with the sweet toffee. And as others described it, the banana makes an appearance but is by no means dominant (but I love banana, so I’ll take what I can get). You know it’s a tea you’ll want again and again when you hesitantly take your last sip because you know there isn’t too too much left. Thank you, thank you, thank you JustJames for this incredibly generous sample. And Stacy, please please say that you’ll be making this available? What will it take to convince you to do it? Please?
Sigh. Another sipdown (84). And unless Stacy decides to release this as a permanent blend, I may never have it again.
I drank it after watching the 50th Anniversary special of Doctor Who. It seemed like the appropriate time to finish this off. And without spoiling anything, I will say that I am happy with the episode and the tea. Both do well multiple times. (And now I can scour the net for reactions/reviews and madcap theories!)
sipdown! looks like i could PROBABLY get to 140 this weekend which would put me 10 under my sipdown black friday goal – giving me nearly 3 weeks to get my cupboard down to a point where when i get my black friday orders, i’ll still be under 150. At least that’s the plan anyway.
I am a fan of this one. I can see how this would work well with hot chocolate…mostly i just really like this one. I only wish the banana flavour was a teeeeeny bit stronger. I almost stole some banana chips from foxy roxy haha but i didn’t. Thanks a bunch for sharing james! totally delicious! i also like that the resteeps are pretty tasty too!
Stacy, James : BRAVO – Well done, congrats – what a delicious cup !
I think this blend can directly join the Butiki Teas official card but of course it’s up to Stacy.
I’ve been happy to see the puerh has been replaced by the Premium Taiwanese Assam, I love the tea base.
Of course a caramelized coconut is hitting me first then seconded by banana. Praline is not so evident to me. What a shock ! ouch what a match but all these flavours are pairing so well together it’s a real greedy pleasure to drink my mug.
I don’t think this is a tea I would drink too often because it may push me to go to the cupboard and take one or 2 cookies for a decadent afternoon break ! Be careful !
Thank you so much justjames for sharing some of your custom blend with me
justjames sent me a sample of this since i’m trying to try all the butiki teas! :) I am NOT a fan of coconut. You know what i am a fan of though? this tea! This is coconut and caramel and banana…but the banana is subtle…hiding in the sip until about halfway through and then it’s like BAM! haha I am really enjoying this one. I’ve got some more to play with so i’ll be enjoying that. I would likely purchase this is it was available as a standard tea, though given the coconut, i couldn’t drink it all the time. Thanks SO much for sharing this with me justjames Love the DR Who reference as well! :)
Thank you JustJames for sharing this with me. I definitely see why people have spoken so fondly of this. The coconut is the flavor I first noticed. However, as I continue to sip away I notice the other flavors too like the toffee and vanilla. Unfortunately, I realized I underleafed this (about 1.5 tsp in 12 oz.) so the flavors are not as prominent as I thought they were going to be but this is still so delicious! Thank you so much JustJames for sharing such an amazing blend.
OMG. I don’t know what I did to deserve a surprise sample of this from JustJames but…. OMG. Will… will this be for sale? Please?
I love that the base is PTA, and I can definitely taste the coconut, toffee and caramel. It’s like a more complicated and grown-up Caramel Vanilla Assam. I would stock up on this IN A HEARTBEAT.
It’s buttery, and light, and the flavours are dancing on my tongue. :) Even as it cools to room temperature, it tastes amazing!
Bonus points for the Doctor Who reference. I have to say, I wasn’t immediately impressed by River when we met her with 10, until the end of Forest of the Dead. She just seemed too cocky and bold, and what was she to MY Doctor? :P But she just got better and better. So, now I’m scouring youtube for fanvids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGmc5Rr-2_I and if that’s not sad enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9UiErrKHJo
Thanks again for the sample!
