It’s good, but could be a lot better. I think maybe the ginger is a tad too strong. I’d like the cardamon and the coffee to be more pronounced. I won’t waste it, but I won’t be buying any more either.

I have a huge bag of this stuff, so if anyone wants to swap, let me know!

Today is a sad, sad day for Owlie. She re-found this little sample in her tea cupboard, with no idea where it came from. Intrigued, she pulled it out and saw “CHAI” jump out at her in bold black letters. Thrilled, she put the kettle on.
Steeped…

And died a little inside because no chai should ever be like this. No she decided, this was NOT a chai at all, not a true spicy delicious, creamy-with-milk confection of cinnamon and clovey complex goodness but some abomination of a green concoction with pepper tossed it at whim to appease the tea gods need for a sacrifice of spice. The stevia, she decided with a grimace, was a heavy-handed and whole-hearted mistake. “This tea,” she proclaimed, "would possibly have been far more enjoyable had it not been stamped with the misleading moniker of CHAI. Otherwise I would not feel so horribly deceived by the actual tea.

It smelled so good at the store, I just had to get some . And it’s such a lovely color! Got some before it was gone, and I can attest to the statement that it tastes just as good as it smells!
Note; it is a very tart tea so if you don’t like that I’d recommend sweetening or whatnot.

Brewed up a quick cup of this at my girlfriends house as a quick and easy caffeine free cup and wow I chose a good tea. I’ve had this one iced and hot and personally I like it as a hot tea right before bed :) it’s definitely can taste some of the flavourings but it is very subtle and doesn’t distract from the flavour of the tea.
All in all a great tea that I would buy to keep as a yea for bedtime :)

drank Banana Nut Bread by DAVIDsTEA

Thanks jeweledthumb for this. I love it! Too bad can’t get anymore of this :( I definitely tasted the nutty banana bread. I used about 2-3tsps (too chunky to really measure properly) in 4oz of boiling water and steeped it for well over 10 mins. It has a natural sweetness to it coming from the banana. I re-steeped about 4 times and the flavor remained until the 4th re-steep.

Good thing I read the reviews before steeping this one. I decided to steep this in a pyrex measuring cup so I didn’t have to use an infuser. Worked really well.

Glad you enjoyed it! Maybe Davidstea will bring it back someday?

If you look through boxes, sometimes you find tea. This one smells nicely minty, with some cocoa. The flavour is mostly mint, and some creamy chocolate. Not as cookie-like as it was before. I get more of a base flavour now too.

Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Mint, Rooibos

I haven’t had this a while. At first, there is a stronger scent of mint. The chocolate comes out nicely in the flavour, but the mint tends to linger a little. It is smooth, and tastes almost like a chocolate bar. Maybe I should try this cold soon.

I got this because it smelled really nice in the store. This tastes like those mint crisp chocolate bars. It’s creamy chocolate with hints of mint.

drank Aloha Pu'erh by DAVIDsTEA

Terrible experience and money spent for nothing. I don’t enjoy this tea at all. And I mean it. At all. Not sure what I will do with the rest of my 50 g. supply…
The color is good. It smelled the most fruity from all their pu’erh teas so I decided to take chances. Didn’t worth it. It is basically tasteless and on top has this disgusting film from white chocolate that is part of the blend. I will never buy another blend with chocolate in it!

David’s has some pretty great teas with chocolate…this tea in particular is just spectacularly awful.

kalina9918

Could you pls recommend one? I see you are fan of David’s… :-) I truly was trying to avoid chocolate teas lately, although they smell sooo attractive!

Well, Read my Lips is alright hot, but as a cold-steeped iced tea it is fantastic. And for hot tea, Stormy Night, Ceylon Star, and Chocolate Rocket are all pretty great. Red Velvet Cake is alright but it’s definitely not an “everyday” tea.

Oh, and as far as fruity Pu’erhs, if that’s what you were looking for with this, I would highly recommend Berry Good.

kalina9918

Thank you! :) Will definitely go to try some as soon as i get to the store! :)

drank Chai Guarana by DAVIDsTEA

It was actually really funny… no sooner did I make this tea then I had someone drop by my office for an impromptu meeting; not only that but I got the comment “You’re the only person I know that drinks tea that smells like one of those nice candles!” I’m choosing to take this comment as a complement to the tea despite the fact that it was a comparison between a wax product and a drink…

I really like the cinnamon and ginger in this, they mix well with the rest of the flavors and leave such a pleasant tingle which warms me up after being out in the weather. I also found that I enjoyed the dry finish today as well, it just tied everything off quite nicely. I still keep expecting a slightly richer mouth feel though, that’s the one detail that always seems to leave me hanging with this infusion… I wonder how that would change if I made this as “classic” chai and steeped it in milk over the stove. Something to try one of these days.

Having just returned from the sunny South (20-24C FTW!) to the snowy North (-10C anyone? :P) I really needed some tea to warm me up, so this morning I went looking through my cupboard for something with a bit of spice… In the end it came down to Sweet Ginger Heat, Sugar & Spice or this tea; a few sniffs later I figured I’d give this one another shot and see if it would grow on me a bit more.

Warm, a touch spicy with a hint of sweet and that interesting mix of flavors… yep it’s grown on me! :) I still keep expecting a fuller mouth-feel when I’m drinking but aside from that (and that bit of dryness at the end) it really is quite nice.

I’ve never tried guarana before so I was a bit hesitant in trying this tea at first but after the first few sips it started to grow on me.

Dry this tea has a definite spicy scent, with lots of cinnamon and ginger. Add in the small hit of sweet licorice as an undertone from the anise seeds, and it becomes a compelling scent that begged me to smell it just one more time.

Brewed it gives a mildly cloudy medium-dark liquor, that has a pronounced black licorice and cinnamon scent to it. The flavor of this reflects it’s smell as the licorice flavor comes through quite strongly with just enough cinnamon and ginger to give it more than that one note. It’s mouth feel is in the middle range for me, lighter than I was expecting given the dark liquor, but not overly rich, with a pleasant tingle left over from the spice. Unfortunately there is one detriment for me, a rather bitter aftertaste that leaves my mouth feeling quite dry. A splash of milk and a touch of raw sugar helps to even this out but it’s still not as nice of a finish as I would like.

Overall a good tea for those days when you need a bit of a “pick-me-up” and are in the mood for something with a bit of cream and sugar but not a must have for me. Well, at least not yet… ;)

THis tea was tasty, but I found the cardamom a little too strong.

This tea doesn’t actually scream ‘coffee’ or ‘chai’ at me, but I really enjoy it. I drink it black with a fair helping of sugar and it tastes great. The cardamom fades a bit behind the cinnamon, and the tea is fairly subtle, well balanced, and perfect for autumn.
