Dry Leaf Nose: Refreshing. Chlorophyl & tea leaves with some buttery notes.
Liquor: Clear and light green liquor with a nice vegetal aroma.
Flavour: This tea has a very distinct grassy character with a slightly salty note that’s reminiscent of ocean air. The overall impression is one of fresh grass and sea air.
Preparation
Dry Leaf Nose: Minty with cardomom and spice.
Liquor: Medium brown/medium greens, with a minty, spicy, and cardomom nose.
Flavour: Complex and sweet – a very special African Mint tea, as it incprporates more than just the usual mint and tea. The cardamom, ginger, peppercorns and mints play well together and the hojicha is an excellent and unusual base for such a tea.
Preparation
Dry Leaf Nose: Chocolate coconut mocha.
Liquor: Medium golden clear with a definite chocolate coconut aroma and hints of mocha.
Flavour: A sweet chocolate-coconut flavour with a mocha background, brought to us through a combination of white Bai Mudan tea and open China black tea, plus the coconut. The effect is a rich and satisfying cup.

Wow there sure are a lot of tasting notes for this tea and I’m grateful to DaisyChubb for choosing this golden beauty for the 12 Days of Christmas swap, thus giving me the chance to add my own.
What an appropriate tea for this day! There are many a golden named tea, golden needles, golden monkey’s, golden fleece, but none shimmer as much as this one. I opened the beautiful hand decorated pouch Daisy made and when I peered inside it was like tiny golden Christmas bobbles were shining back at me.
I find it interesting that tea companies are totally cool with including glittering sugar balls, candy maple leafs and such in their tea and no one freaks out and thinks its horribly unnatural. This actually isn’t my first shimmery tea. I tried Della Terra Tea’s Caramel Candy Apple from the Traveling Tea Box a couple months ago.
That one was kinda pink and girlish, this one reminds me of gold dust and stars and I think could indeed be very romantic, curled up with two cups in front of a fire. Too bad the husband despises cinnamon and we don’t have a working fireplace. Oh well a girl can dream, in which case I don’t really have to picture him anyway ;)
This is really awful. Doesn’t taste of cranberries at all.
In fact, it’s a bit bitter and tastes like medicine.
I think it’s because they have way too many obscure spices in there instead of cranberries. I was expecting CRANBERRIES. Instead it’s the worst mix of both spicy and bitter.
I’m dumping it.
I admitted defeat on keeping up with my advent calender fairly early on in the month. I mainly bought it for the little tins anyway. But this, this is great! I’ve had Hot Lips before, late in the summer iced. It was good. THIS IS BETTER. I added a dash of honey and yum yum yum.
apparently i’ve never reviewed this. I hadn’t really tried it until it showed up in my advent calender last week. But I’ve since bought 50 g or so and am enjoying it with honey and vanilla almond milk right now. it’s soooo good.
