HOLY GOOSE DARNIT! When I first smelled the dry tea, it smelled like I just pulled the chord and a bucket of passion fruit juice fell on me. It was so sweet, sexy, and smooth smelling that I just fell in love with it then and there. Moreover, when I steeped it, the tea turned a brilliant pink color reminiscent of a pink lemonade I might have had a few days ago. My first taste of this tea was just absolutely AMAZING!

I took my first sip and immediately I got a punch of hibiscus and apple which balance each other out (from my experience drinking most teas, hibiscus seems to be very hard to get right) so this tea is definitely a jewel. After the initial sour punch, the fruity passion fruit notes kicked in which elevated the sour flavor.

10/10! Perfect! Parfait! Perfekt! Perfetto! Perfectus! Perfecto!

drank Copabanana by DAVIDsTEA

I’m finally starting to get through some of the samples I’ve received! Yay!! I received a more than generous amount of tea from Amanda and found a sample of Copabanana included. I am now interested in more fruity teas as the weather warms up and this one was exactly what I was looking for.

I brewed this one at double strength and then iced it. I find it to be quite flavorful! Banana is front and center with hints of coconut and strawberry. I used a bit of sweetener and it almost reminds me of a fruit juice. It might just be me, as I do not drink fruit juices anymore. While I am enjoying this tea, it reminded me that I need to put in an order for more tea suitable for summer. I love the teas I already have, but they seem to be more appropriate for cooler weather. There is nothing wrong with more tea though. :-)

Finally made it into DT to check out the summer collection. The staff said they had “tons of stock” ( I was worried they would sell out, if I really liked it ) and I did like the minty smell, so I got 50 grams.

Brewed up and really taste the mint! I loved Santa’s Secret, but this one is cool tasty spearmint. Lots of spearmint! I didn’t get any coconut or fruit…..but that’s ok. I had it with a little rock sugar and a splash of half & half…..very refreshing……think I am going to make another cup…..this would be a good " drink at work" tea, I think……

drank Mango Fruit Punch by DAVIDsTEA
7 tasting notes

I LOVE mango, but sadly I don’t love this.

I finally took the plunge and bought an iced tea pitcher today (yay!), and along with that I picked up a couple of the pitcher-perfect tea packages. This was one of the flavours.

While I absolutely loved this tea on dry sniff, it doesn’t taste like I thought it would at all. It reminds me of some icky citrus/peach-flavored drink that I would have had as a kid, or something, and it’s not all that appetizing. Mango is creamy and smooth and sweet and delicious, but for whatever reason I can’t taste any of that goodness in this tea.

…And now I have an entire pitcher of it to get through.

Editing to Add: I realized after I wrote this that the problem with this tea – for me – might just have been that I didn’t add enough sugar, and I may give it another chance in the future to test this theory out. We’ll see.

drank Razzmatazz (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

I’ve been having trouble with this one as I just don’t seem to like the taste. So today I cold brewed this mixed equally with Teavana’s Peach Tranquility for about 12 hours. It is actually pretty decent. There is still a strong rooibos taste, with a fermented grape taste, but the peach really dampens the flavour of the Razzmatazz, which I like.

Made this one as a cold brew. Brewed for about 10 hours. I didn’t much like this one hot. It is slightly more drinkable cold. The best way I can describe it, is it tastes like fermented grape rooibos. There is a strong rooibos flavour and a slightly alcohol/fermented scent and flavour. I think I am going to try blending this one with some other teas and see what happens.

Please be advised – this note contains a rant, you can skip it if you like.

This is not a tea I would have normally bought for myself. It was given to me as a gift, which I am grateful for. Stepping out of the box!

Let rant begin: I hate it when a tea blend contains a sweetener, this one has stevia. If I wanted a sweetener in my tea, I would add it myself. Now I totally understand teas like pineapple upside down cake and pankcake breakfast, that contain a sweetener in the blend. But that is because they are mimicking a food. But there are teas that add sweetener, whether it be stevia or rock sugar or whatever, that don’t necessarily need it, like this tea. I will make my tea how I like it, please don’t force your sugar on me!

End rant.

On first smell, I wasn’t quite sure. To me it smelled like fermenting fruit/berries/grapes, like if you have ever smelled the mash that is used to make wine (and no, I am not a moonshiner).

On first smell, I got a sweet, tart smell, much like Sweet Tarts Candy. But underneath, there is that fermenting fruit smell. It almost has a carbonated drink smell to it, like pop/soda.

The tea tastes nothing like it smells. To me it tastes strongly of stevia (you will know what I mean if you have tasted the leaves of a stevia plant). I can taste the metallic notes of rooibos and the lemon verbena. A faint, slight generic fruity undertone, but I would not say it was raspberry. There is the aftertaste that I get with drinking carbonated drinks.

It does not taste anything like it smells, but I am still overall not a fan. I think I was jaded by reading the ingredient list, and thus, going on a rant. I think I will try is as a cold brew as I do with most of my herbals, and see what happens.

I am with you on that one!

Chizakura

I totally agree with you. There were a couple of teas I was looking into from Davids and as soon as I saw ‘stevia’ listed in the ingredients I passed. Like you, I’d rather choose whether to add sweetening or not. =/ Especially in the case of your sample you had from Teavana. I understand sweetening a brewed sample inside store locations, but mixing in sugar with the dry leaf!? Not cool.

Miss Starfish

I agree completely! I wish a lot of vendors let their tea stand on their own – it’s not exactly a vote of confidence that they add sugar.

Kittenna

I didn’t mind this one, actually, but I think it really depends on how much stevia you get in a cup, which seems to vary. For instance, I love Banana Oolong even though it has stevia… but when I hit the bottom of my bag? Barf. All the stevia seemed to have accumulated down there or something. It was disgusting. I think I had the same experience with two batches of DT’s Blueberry Jam as well; one was amazing, and the second was so stevia-heavy it was gag-worthy. Sigh. I’d personally also prefer it was entirely left out. I’m quite capable of adding my own sweetener… (and yeah, when things like maple sugar or chocolate are ingredients in a blend, that’s one thing… stevia is another.)

This was a really nice tea! Not only is it fresh, but the light minty flavour really works to it’s advantage (in short this tea makes sense). I really like this tea!!!

However, I had some concerns with this tea. I really get the refreshing balanced mint flavour but I don’t taste much fruit. I don’t think I find it to be very creamy.

Ultimately, I can taste some other flavours mixed with the mint that gives it a very dynamic flavour. Definitely my favourite mint tea.

*Edit, I just added a little bit if lemon and I realized. My first infusion didn’t have any fruit pieces in it… DOY! I LOVE THIS TEA!!!

drank Mango Fruit Punch by DAVIDsTEA

Well, the name is accurate on this one. I had been referring to it as mango bubble gum but mango fruit punch works better. This is a very heavy tea that smells delicious, like something you should eat immediately. I ended up using the entire 26 gram packet for our 24 oz teapot as it was very heavy and hard to get enough to flavour up. That basically makes this 1.75 a cup. Yikes!

Steeped, it has a yellow colour and a sweet aroma. The taste matches it closely, with a POW of sweetness, some identifiable candied mango and then bubble gum/fruit punch under that. To be honest, I don’t like it. I am not keen to finish my cup and I definitely won’t buy any more. I don’t know what I expected but the smell was so amazing that I got carried away. What I would want here is to cut the sweetness and add maybe some tartness to round it out. Rare for me! I should probably have used less tea or less time, but I know how difficult it can be to get dried fruit to flavour up. Unfortunately I went the opposite direction. Not for me, but would probably be very good iced or if you’re a huge fan of sweet teas.

Woke up super early (well, for me anyway) today, and decided that since I have some time before my lunch date I’ll be having a peaceful tea session:)

The dry leaves give off a pleasant black tea smell, with a little bit of smokiness.
It brews into a fairly dark brew (I’m sure I didn’t leave it in for longer than 3 mins), and smells like black tea (okay, that was lame).
The taste..to be honest, all I’m getting is normal black tea flavors, which kinda disappoints me since the package says its a blend of different black teas.
I added a bit of milk and sugar to see if it would be any better, which it did, but I still didn’t wow me or give me that tranquility that ooglongs and jasmines give me.

Not a bad tea, but not special either.

this.is.a.brilliant.tea. the smell you get in the store is exactly how it tastes once it’s steeped. the blend is absolutely honest in its bouquet representation.

the colour is warmly pink. the taste genuinely passionfruit— not a citrus approximation. just enough flowers for it to be a tea and not just a fruit blend. adjectives: robust, elegant, balanced…

beautifully done, david’s teas! i can only hope that i can get this tea in the fall (please?).

Is there any tartness in this one? I’m considering picking this up, but I’m not sure about the hibiscus

not a hint. it’s really well put together. but you can always ask for a sample in the store, they’re really good for that. :-)

I am so glad that I only bought enough of this for one pot. It smelled too much like Bubbly for me to trust it, and damn was I right. This tea is like pineapple cheap champagne. It may be great for the wallet but your taste buds will regret every sip. I ended up dumping the pot after I tried it both hot and iced and couldn’t handle more than a couple sips either way.

Glad I’m not the only one that really didn’t like this one!

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml

Hibiscus is not overpowering. Slight melon-y flavour. Reminds me bubblegum candy flavour but is not artificial tasting. Zingy sugary sweetness note coming through.
This tisane seems like one that would be great as a cold brew.

drank Goji Pop by DAVIDsTEA

Gosh darn it I love this tea! Only ever drank it iced. Well, ok, one time I wasn’t patient enough for the ice to fully melt so I did get a taste of it warm but it doesn’t count. I ran out a while back and I waited — I don’t know why because it’s my go to “juice” tea. Ok, who am I kidding, it is my only juice tea. It is so good that I stock no others. God, is that bad to admit?

So anyway my order came and I am so pleased to have this in the house again. I don’t know what I will do if they ever pull it. I mean, even if I buy several 250 gram bags, I will still run out at some point. That’s how much I like it.

I don’t even know what to say in a tasting note. Because really, how do you talk about love? Talking about love is like dancing about architecture. :)

But ok, since someone who hasn’t had this might read this I shall give it a go. The dry leaf is chunky because of all the dried fruit so you need a lot which would make it a bit expensive. It tastes like melon. It’s red from hibiscus but you can’t taste hibiscus — at least I can’t. The second steep gets a bit more tart but the first steep is all melon and goji berries. Which is odd because apple is the first ingredient on the list.

Good enough?

Fjellrev

This stuff is totally awesome, for sure!

keychange

How do you take this one?

Nxtdoor

About one heaped teaspoon of sugar to a 16 oz glass. I was just thinking that I might cut back a bit on that, last time it was quite sweet. A generous handful of ice cubes. I do not, however, fill my glass with ice cubes like they do for you at DAVIDs.

keychange

Oh ok. Do you like this one hot, also?

Nxtdoor

Dunno, never tried.

Still my favourite tea to make Ice tea with. Sadly, I only have one cup’s worth left. And this is after restocking already. But I forgot to reorder with my last DT order and now I will have to wait a long time because it’ll be a while for the next DAVIDs. Hopefully the teas I did order, in massive quantities, will be just as good. My hopes are resting now on Paradise Found since I bought more than 0.5 lb (250 gr)

Goji pop is lovely. The melon comes through so nicely, probably more than any berry or other ingredient for that matter. It is a nice “juice” tea.

I like this a lot.

I really love how creamy it is, I imagine from the coconut? I don’t know, it’s delightful. And the citrus blends well with the rooibos, which I did feel a bit sketchy about. I did add a bit more spearmint for my second steep of this, and even more for the third steep I am about to attempt. It still smells amazing, so I am giving it a shot.

I was tempted to cold brew, but I think I’ll do that next time. The ever-wonderful Courtney sent me enough of this one to sample a few times.

I enjoyed this one. The aroma was delicious. The taste was smooth, sweet and creamy. I’m not sure about the salt, though – I didn’t taste any, and I’m sensitive to salt (which makes me wonder why I bought this in the first place). I liked it.

Me likey. This is not an everyday tea to drink, but certainly one to drink and enjoy on occasion. On first sip I was getting a mineral, vegetal taste. As the tea cooled down I started to get a buttery spinach taste. Yum!!

Allergy attack! Throat hurts like crap and my sense of smell just walked out the door thanks to runny nose barging in. This tea seems appropriate for, I don’t know, colds and stuff in general so here’s to hoping it helps some.

The dry tea…smells very potent. The ginger and lemongrass is strong to the point it makes me want to sneeze. I never had honeybush so I’m not sure what it smells like, but anyway it seems to be covered by the ginger and lemongrass.

The brew has a slight honey smell thats similar to when you add honey to hot water. I’m getting more hopeful by the second here…

The flavor is surprisingly milder than expected. The ginger is soft, unlike the smell, and only has a slight sting/burn to it. I’m also getting the lemony taste from the lemongrass here, and it sort of freshens things up a bit, making this taste lighter. The honeybush…I’m not sure what that is supposed to taste like but I’m getting a sweetness here which I’m assuming is the honeybush.

After drinking this, my throat has become slightly better and I can actually breathe through my nose again. Really soothing tisane, great for stuffy noses and sore throats. It’s now my official go-to cold tea!

i prefer this tea from the first steep versus the second because i enjoy robust flavour. to be honest i didn’t much taste almonds, the strongest flavours in the first steep were chocolate and raspberry, in the second steep raspberry and mate. both times a very fruity tea.

quite nice, overall. it will do nicely as dessert!

my first step outside of grocery store teas. I ordered this online as I live 2 hours from anything resembling a city. I love what this tea does, although the taste is something that is taking a little getting use to. It is growing on me. The effects are perfect though. Hubby is deployed leaving me with a 2 year old and an 9 month old. I am also preparing to go back to work so if I ever needed something to calm the nerves the time is now. the moment the world starts to spin too fast this tea is soothing and calming. def helps with the mothering. perfect for going to bed as well and turning my brain off. I love the mint. the tart after taste is what I find a little much. then again I brew my black tea really strong and bitter so perhaps out of habit I steeped this too long. Will deff be ordering this again.
