I got a few of my samples mixed up, but I’m pretty sure this one is from cheetah_pita (correct me if I’m wrong!)

I’ve only ever had one mate blend and I’ve haven’t ever had coffee in my tea (though I’m looking forward to the coffee puerh that shmiracles sent)

This is surprisingly better than I thought it would be. It’s very roasty, like a roasted oolong, but its a mate. There is a pleasant sweetness buried under the roast (it’s almost like licorice), but I’m not picking up on the coffee. I don’t know if I like it enough to repurchase, but maybe.

Thank you Roswell Strange. Thank you.

I forget how much I love this tea because I drink it so rarely but it’s… amazing. It’s just what I needed after a stressful day at work. I’m on my second steep and I’m getting ready to pick the mulberries out so I can eat them.

And I take it back – Rivertea’s Mulberry White is good, but it’s not creamy coconutty like this. It’s good but it’s a different animal. I probably want both around.

VariaTEA

After getting 10 grams multiple times when I went into DAVIDs, I finally caved and just bought 50 g

TeaLady441

Makes sense! I’m hoping to get enough points with their loyalty program that I can redeem it on this one.

Plunkybug

It is soo good, and I just know I’m gonna need to get more soon.

Roswell Strange

I’m almost out too :P Of this and Mulberrry White – and I need both around! Saw this on your shopping list though, and I didn’t mind sharing what I do have :)

I’ve totally taken this tea for granted. :| I grabbed a bag when it was $2/5 at Davids, along with a few spring teas I hadn’t even tried, and 2 days later it’s gone.

It’s pretty good, but OMG is it expensive. $11.50 for 50g? And this is a heavy tea with all those mulberries. Are mulberries rare? Because there’s really not a lot of white tea in here. The 4-7 minute steep time sorta gives it away – it’s basically a fruit herbal with a dash of white.

It’s so creamy and sweet and a touch fruity. I would never buy 100g, but I DID send my bf to Brentwood to see if he could grab me two more little bags. I’ll cross my fingers.

The little bags are definitely a good deal for this tea!

Iced and lightly sweetened, this is tasty. For some reason it reminds me of Tazo’s Passion tea, though this is a bit more citrusy. The hibiscus and tangerine make a nice pair, but it’s not particularly special. I’m glad I got to sample this, but I don’t think it’s something that I will buy for myself.

Thanks for sharing, Sil.

It’s after me! really it is! coconut!!!!

This tea is orange and puerh not coconut. So what’s the big idea?? It smells chocolatey and earthy. The first taste is a cheery orange. And then. . . it happens. The mysterious coconut goblin finds me and messes with my tea (or my taste buds). It’s that same most awful coconuty aftertaste that is supposed to follow after a sip of coconut flavored tea. Hear that coconut goblin??? You’re hanging out with the wrong tea!

I really don’t know where it’s coming from, maybe it’s hiding in the artificial flavors somewhere. Ugh.

Thanks again Shmiracles for sending me one of your favorites. So sorry that it wasn’t a match for me.

well. i went back and read my note. and i don’t think i would put this in my top 10 anymore anyways. i’ve grown so much!
it must be in the artificial flavors. many of the david’s tea i used to love i barely even drink these days. i should probably revisit this one and get a new perspective :) i’m sure i still like it, but i bet i’ll think about it differently.

Shelley_Lorraine

Ive got a few old favorites that have dropped of my top ten list too. Strange how that works.

JennyFur

I think its because variety brings more perspective on things. When I first started I thought Teavanas Maharaja chai was the best thing ever in life. Now, not so much lol. But thats largely because I’ve tried so much tea that I like so many other things.

Received this as a sample with my order.

It’s definitely mango smelling. But man that 5g was barely anything. Had this iced & it was super delicious, mango, fruity & lightly sweet.
I would have to do a side by side with mango madness, but if I remember correctly they taste very similar. I may stock both & keep this one for a night time iced tea.

I need to go pick these new teas up soon, before they all sell out or something annoying like that. Hahaha.

drank Ginseng Oolong by DAVIDsTEA

I accidentally let this steep for ~15 minutes so there’s quite a punch of ginseng with an aftertaste of oolong.

I just wanted to let anybody know that if you do like your ginseng-oolong teas heavy on the ginseng, try steeping this one longer!

This one really tastes like mango juice. I like it a lot, but it is SO expensive because it is so heavy. For 25 grams I got two iced teas out of it.

drank Forever Nuts by DAVIDsTEA

Forever Nuts came in both the Sweet Indulgences and Caffeine Free sampler sets, so I had plenty to try.

Honestly, I think I preferred Sleigh Ride to this. The slight hint of tart to the apple and cinnamon gave the drink a bit of a kick. Though Forever Nuts certainly brews up to a beautiful coral pink color, I found it mostly a bland and weak baked apple flavor. I’m not big on baked apple goods (blasphemy, I know), so it just didn’t appeal. I tried 1.5 tsp at various steeping times to see if that helped, but a full tablespoon and a good long time resulted in a stronger drink that still didn’t have a ton of flavor to it.

SIPDOWN! (230) i guess i could drink some more black teas but i figure that this is a good time for me to try a few more of the rooibos teas i have. I’m not a fan of this one. It’s kind of artificial and not nearly as delicious as i want it to be.

so uh this was supposed to be a tasting note…and on the way to get here i stopped by a conversation on FB and then i had to draw a picture…let me tell you…MS paint is a PITA! anyway i digress… i got to thinking..I dunno how many people remember that whole geocities thing where there were chat rooms you could hang out in and sometimes you had to wait to get into them and what not. wouldn’t that be fun if steepster had one? except then i probably wouldn’t get ANY work done… anyway that was a nice visit down memory lane :)

so this tea? not bad and i’ll certainly enjoy drinking it while i have it but it won’t be a re-order. The caramel is slightly artificial tasting to me and it makes me want my caramel black! Oh! this came by way of Joon through Cavocorax so thank you both! love trying out new teas :)

OMGsrsly

OMG. I still keep in touch with people from Geocities chat. It would be so awesome if Steepster had one, but yeah. I’d never get anything else done. :)

Terri HarpLady

OMG, I was gonna say the same thing.
My favorite chatroom was a long time ago when the internet was still fairly new….uh…I think it was called ’world’s chat’ or something like that. You got to pick an avatar, & it was a virtual space station. LOL, a total waste of time, but fun. Of course, it lagged like crazy :D

Kittenna

Noooooo, I guess I’m not getting rid of this one by giving it to you! It was totally on our swap list…

Sil

lol i can still take it if you want to get rid of it. It’s not a bad tea, just not a re-order.

SIPDOWN! Thanks to courtney for sending this my way in our last swap :) I think my favourite thing about some of my swaps is getting to try david’s teas which i just don’t buy for myself 98% of the time. This one intrigued me simply because i haven’t tried many (any?) kiwi flavoured teas. Not sure that i get the full on “kiwi” flavour in this one, and the green base is not entirely really sort of there but this is a nice enough tea. Nothing i’m dying to keep in my cupboard but i’d drink it again from time to time. :) thanks courtney!

Courtney

I just finished this off as well. I’m not amazed by it, I don’t really taste the kiwi everyone else seems too hah.

Sil

with you there…it’s like it could almost be kiwi if i closed my eyes and really thought about it

Dry, this tea smells great, very fruity and yummy scented. Once steeped it really is like a real fruit punch not those artificial ones you buy and is just a little bit tangy which I think is great! If you enjoy tropical fruits and/or fruit punch you’re sure to enjoy this.

Another Tea to re-review

This used to be one of my favorite iced teas to make. It’s sweet, mango-y and citrusy. However, now I find it to be almost overly sweet (and I do not add any sugar to my iced teas!), but then again maybe that’s just what the “fruit punch” part of the name is all about. Also, I find the way I brew it up (I have done it as a hot steep and stick the pitcher in the fridge to cool down for hours and hours) you get a bit of bitterness in the aftertaste (maybe from the orange peel?).

Maybe I should buy some more of this to cold brew to see if that changes things. I still like this tea quite a bit (it is tasty!) but I find after one glass I feel like I’m oversugared, which doesn’t happen with other iced teas. But, it’ll be a while if I do repurchase, because I have 3 orders of teas coming in from different companies. Not to mention you only get 2 pitchers out of a 50 gram bag, which makes it nearly $4/pitcher…

drank Licorice Twist by DAVIDsTEA
4 tasting notes

Interesting.

I have a sore throat, so I opted to try and treat it with this tea. It was a suggestion after all.

I love black licorice candy and was really excited to receive this one. When I opened the package and smelled it dry, I was underwhelmed. I hastily dumped it into a tea tin and shoved it to the back of my tea cupboard to be drunk at a later date.

I brewed this tea by boiling the water and then steeping for five minutes. Since I have an uber-sweet tooth, I was tempted to add sugar straightaway. Thank goodness I didn’t. I opted instead to taste it on it’s own first and was pleasantly surprised. The initial taste wasn’t sweet, but all of a sudden the anise struck me on the back of my tongue and throat—SWEETNESS! I was so happy I even interrupted my husband from doing yardwork to tell him about it.

The initial smell was a little like freshly mown grass, after letting it sit a little I smelled a little bit of chamomile. Also, after letting it sit a bit I also tasted a bit more of the spiciness.

Overall, this is a really nice tea and I’m glad I have it. The lower marks are due to its lackluster dry smell.

Yuck. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

I love salted caramels and was so disappointed when I didn’t like this drink. However, DT has amazing customer service and sent me a bag of tea I do like to make up for this one. Fortunately for me, my MIL likes this tea so I gave it to her. At least it didn’t go to waste!

drank Mint Julep by DAVIDsTEA
4 tasting notes

I’m in love with this tea. Thank goodness I got a sample in my recent shipment because I wouldn’t have tried it out otherwise. This tea is subtly minty with delicious fruit flavors, I particularly noticed the lemon. Yummmmm.

I brewed it twice today. The first time I boiled the water to 208 degrees F and then steeped it for 5 minutes. I then added a little sugar and poured it over ice for a refreshing tea on this hot day. The second time I boiled the water, resteeped for 6 minutes, and poured it over ice again. This time I didn’t sweeten this much but it was still delicious. It did seem to be a bit weaker in flavor after the second steeping, but that could also be influenced by the fact that I had just finished eating some sweet strawberries.

Mrs Scarry has been getting me to try many teas and I finally found one I like just to have them discontinue it. Ive tried the gambit of flavors from black, white, green, nuts, fruits, etc from this Davids Tea and loved this one the best. If anyone has suggestions of similar style taste, blends to come up with similar taste I would love to know! Thank you. EvS

So I am a coco-NUT (hahahahahaha no really guys I need help) and I thought this tea was incredible. I lost my mind when the Coconut Oolong came out, and this made me find it, and then lose it again, because AAAAHHHHH.

Scrumptious. Where the Oolong is velvety, this tea is crisp. It’s good hot, but it’s INFINITY TIMES BETTER ICED. I’m sorry I keep typing in CAPS but I’m just really EXCITED. The coconut taste is a bit tropical – there’s some pina colada-y thing going on in the background, but it’s really light. This tastes like something you’d sip while relaxing on a beach in Vanuatu with a dashing foreign lover.

For me, this was the best tea of the summer collection and a must-buy. If you hate coconut (aka if you are crazy) this will not appeal to you, but if you love coconut, whoo boy. Buckle up.

This tea snuck up on me! It’s a bit mellow, so it kind of got lost behind the HI WE ARE DELICIOUS FRUITSPLOSIONS PUT US IN YOUR MOUTH summer tea shuffle. The dry leaf has a rich mint smell – the mint itself is actually quite light and the pineapple chunks and coconut give bright and buttery back notes. Yum.

It brews dark. I find you have to focus on this tea while you’re drinking it – this is not something to pair with a spicy meal or a sugary dessert or anything else that will overwhelm your tastebuds. It will make the tea seem bland, but if you’re paying attention (because it is needy, co-dependent tea), it’s a treat. The spearmint is muted but cooling and refreshing, but the rest of the tea feels substantial. Good hot or iced, but I’d brew then chill it – don’t serve it over ice. I can see this tea getting really diluted.

Overall, it’s a more indulgent spin on peppermint tea. It’s not the most amazing thing I’ve ever tasted, but if you’re curious about it, you should try it. If the coconut scares you off, don’t let it – you can barely taste it. DON’T buy the iced tea pack version of this tea – it’s way more expensive that way. The other ones are all a deal, but this one is much cheaper to buy by weight.

This tea has really grown on me. It’s nice and rich without being overwhelming, and it does smell just like red velvet. I wish it could be a bit more chocolatey, but that’s just me being a sweet freak.
