I must say that I was expecting more of this tea. It smells great but it does not taste as strong.
It is very expensive because it is Organic I guess and also a heavy tea. I spend close to 7 dollars for a super small amount.
If you are in love with coconut then I would suggest the Coco Chai Roibos instead.
I keep putting off reviewing this. I’m so stuffed from a randomly put together Thanksgiving meal, but nonetheless, I need to report to the world about this tea!
I’ve had it twice already. The dry leaf smells a lot heavier on the cinnamon than I was expecting. It’s like dry ground cinnamon. The other notes are quite weak. I was hoping to get more coconut, especially since the shreds are so delicate.
Once steeped, it also smells like ground cinnamon. Kind of like Super Chocolate but with a different tea base. The taste is also like that. But! Luckily, the soy creamer brings out the vanilla and coconut in this. Makes it taste more like a baked treat.
I’m a little disappointed in it. Was expecting a better balance of flavours. It’s a cozy tea for sure, but out of the new ones this fall, I still prefer Toasted Marshmallow.
Preparation
Oh Thanksgiving in Canada? I will celebrate with you all – now where is my pie? :)
Haha happy Thanksgiving!!!
Being a person who usually takes their tea black – or with the barest splash of milk – I find a lot of dessert teas to be overwhelming and saccharine-sweet. This one certainly felt that way. The cup of tea has a sweet sort of cakey smell to it. It really does taste like red velvet cake with just a bit of sugar; with milk, it tastes a bit more like tea. Very sweet. No bitterness at all. One thing that sort of turned me off of it is the waxy, oily residue from the sprinkles (I think?) that were in the loose tea mix. Sprinkles give it such a nice flavour, but the wax… um… wasn’t the most appetizing. Warm thank-yous to Andrea for giving me a bit to try— I probably won’t go back for more, though. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by all the other awesome teas I’ve tried around here?
Are you kidding me with this? Hot Lips? I got this in a swap from Awkward Soul (thank you!) and I waited until I was in just the right mood to try it because I was expecting it to blow my socks off.
I’m one of those people who orders everything “mild” from the Chinese and Thai menus. I’m a WUSS. And the only thing I could think of when I drank this tea was that old garbage bag commercial, “Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!” I barely even got any cinnamon flavor at all! Here I was nervous about those chilis or whatever, and I couldn’t even taste the cinnamon. Huh. Maybe all that Hot Cinnamon Sunset that I used to drink from Harney & Sons really toughened me up.
Preparation
This was just OK, at first. I thought it tasted like latex party balloons – the kind you blow up with your mouth, or fill with helium. After getting the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker and brewing it the right way, I now find oolongs pretty great.
Preparation
I love that thing! really really useful for tea that expand a lot but that also is bad side if i use it with a tea that is not full leaf or tea with powder in it The steeper become a pain to clean even more if for some reason i did not remove the leaf from directly after using it some tea get in part we cannot remove or clean but i still really love the steeper just choose carefully what the kind of tea you put in it !
As Thanksgiving eve approaches and a chill nips the night air and the need for warmer blankets grows stronger tonight’s tea has done the trick. This oolong blend provides that ‘in’ to trying Saskatoon berries without having to search for them at the store. It’s definitely a deep flavored berry and is complimented by its partners in this tea. I like how the maple syrup adds just the right amount of sweetness to let the berries shine.
I can really imagine this easily being served during dinner with the Thanksgiving staples as an alternative to the traditional cranberry jelly without anyone missing the jelly. (Not that any would be tempted to do such a thing, right?) Haha. In any case I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend and delectable dinners on Monday!
Used two teaspoons worth of the loose tea in my Teaopia steeper (12 or 14oz?). First tastes find it very weak. Disappointed. I was cautious about putting too much in because of making the black tea part too strong, but I can’t taste much. Will try three teaspoons next time. Added two teaspoons of agave nectar, which makes the weak steeping drinkable.
ETA: blends well with the Read My Lips blend.
Preparation
I had this at the perfect timing, once I sat down to drink this, I automatically smelt the bonfire my neighbors were currently having in there backyard.
I love the smell of this tea (before steeping). I DID have an issue in getting out actual tea leaves, as the package is mostly filled with marshmallows. But I still drank it of course!. I had steeped it for 5 minutes, and It tasted amazing!
It’s sweet, but not to sweet. The perfect cold day/night tea!
I had a sample of this from an online order. It was quite tasty. I gave it a generous steep, around 6 mins with the whole sample. It tasted like banana nut bread, but I enjoyed it because it was in liquid form ( since getting into a wider variety of teas, I’ve discovered I like the taste of nuts, just, not the texture.). Quite a tasty tea really. The liquor was a very pale yellow, almost like a first 30s steep of a green tea, but I still got a bit of flavour in it. I think I’ll get a 50g bag and hold this for next autumn.
Perfect for a rainy autumnal afternoon!
What a week. Ever had one of those weeks where you’re so tired you just keep doing stupid things? Like major brain fuzz so normal connections and thought processes just don’t happen. That’s been my week. I’m glad it’s Australia Day long weekend this weekend so I can have 3 days of hibernation and tea drinking.
This is one of the first teas I’ve had all week (yep, brainfuzz to the point I’ve forgotten to make tea. It’s that bad!), the other half made it for me when he was making his morning art of tea vanilla. Hmmmmm……..
Kind of I guess. January 26 was the day the First Fleet (English) arrived in Botany Bay, Sydney and officially claimed the continent for the Empire. Though some people call it Invasion Day to represent the not very nice things done to the indigenous populations since then (murder, rape, disease, forced assimilation etc). Its all we have as we didn’t technically have a war to start our country (with the locals, but of course that doesn’t count).
Ugh, I’m having one of those weeks too, so my sympathies. I hope you have a relaxing weekend across the ditch.
Aussie aussie aussie!
Well, Tassie, sounds about like how the Native Americans were treated, too. Cruelty has no borders, but fortunately, LOVE also has no borders!
Yes, there are some quite questionable things to do with the settlement of Australia that I think we’d all prefer didn’t happen, but I quite like that our constitution came about from a series of summits and research trips to nick the best ideas from everywhere else, not a revolt or war. That, and our continued relationship with the British means we’ve got Doctor Who on free to air tv.
Miss Starfish – cyberhugs!
Had a cup of this while multitasking the crap out of my morning before work – calling my ISP to dispute an invoice, eating breakfast and watching Wild Oats XI win the Syndey-Hoabrt yacht race for the 6th time, including breaking their own record (both out off my balcony and on tv!). Lovely and yummy and perked me up after a few too many (but very tasty!) pinot noirs last night. Off to the Taste of Tasmania tonight for dinner – I do love summer!
Preparation
I’ve now had 3 cups of this, and the other half has had a couple too. It’s so good! I think DavidsTea really gets cake teas (though I’ve only tried the black base ones). It’s sweet and tastes like red velvet cake! Really good. Not sure what else to say, just that I like it a lot!
I’ve been using boiling water, and steeps of around 4-4.5 mins.
Preparation
I ordered this on a whim as part of my first David’s Tea order. I don’t care much for the dessert nor have I ever had a chocolate tea that I’ve liked, but I’ve heard such good things about David’s dessert teas that it sounded fun to try. And I LOVE IT! It really is satisfying in lieu of dessert. Subtly sweet & creamy and great flavor, I will probably order another bag and try some more of David’s dessert teas.
