My first reaction to sipping this tea was, “Oh, wow.”Yep, it surprised me with it’s smooth-as-silky-cream feel, and the very light peppermint flavoring. Would I immediately think Candy Cane when drinking this tea? Hm. Likely not, and I’m confuzzled as to why I’m saying that. It’s a lovely, creamy peppermint tea… it’s just not candy cane to me. It’s still delicious, and I’ll be happy happy sipping this one down.

Thank you to KittyLovesTea for sharing the cutest little package of this with me!

From the EU TTB – Round 3

I’ve tried this one before, but when I saw it in the box I knew I’d have to try another cup. It’s so seasonally appropriate! I used 1 tsp of leaf, and gave it 3.5 minutes in boiling water. I added a splash of milk.

Fortunately, it’s as good as I remembered. The initial sip is largely vanilla and cream, with a strong, sweet undertone, and a maltiness from the black tea base. The milk helps to bring out the vanilla, and tones down the black tea base (which is quite strong). The mint develops in the aftertaste, and leaves a wonderfully cool, tingly sensation at the back of the mouth. It’s the best representation of candy cane in liquid form that I’ve ever come across, particularly when said liquid is actually hot.

Flavoured tea can be hit and miss, but this one is a definite hit!

A sample from KittyLovesTea.

This is gorgeous! Of the few candy cane teas I’ve tried so far, this one is hands down the best. The main flavour is sweet creamy vanilla sugar, and then the mint comes through gently in the aftertaste. It’s more a cooling sensation than an actual flavour at first, but it does build in intensity with successive sips. It’s never overpowering, though.

This is a black tea, so I added a splash of milk which I think helped to bring out some of the creamy vanilla flavouring. There are actual fragments of candy cane in the dry mix, so it’s not too surprising that this tea captures the flavour so accurately. A really great pre-christmas tea! Many thanks to KittyLovesTea for sharing some with me!

Time to start pulling out my Christmas themed teas. I’m watching ‘Orange Is The New Black’ on Netflix, very entertaining!

This smells sweet and minty, exactly like candy cane. The mint is quite distinctly peppermint but definitely more like sweet peppermint than pure, leafy peppermint.

Taste is nice and sweet with a refreshing peppermint but the black base is still quite strong. I like that I can taste the black tea, it’s smoky yet malty and dark which is a nice contrast against the sweet and sticky peppermint. If I was to be critical of this tea then I would say that the peppermint would have been nicer if it was just a little stronger but honestly by itself this is very tasty.

I have no idea why this doesn’t have any other reviews, it really should have. My first Christmas tea of the year and I have plenty of this one to celebrate the holidays with. :)

I think I watched all of Orange is The New Black in just under three days, and I really enjoyed it (but the finale though!). Hope you like it too :)

I’m only on episode 6 so far but I’m really enjoying it so far. :) The last Netflix only series I saw was Hemlock Grove and I loved that too.

I just started it and we’re hooked as well ! I wanted to watch it right away but couldn’t convince J to try it. I’m glad he finally decided to.
Now I want to research what’s true and what’s not since it’s based on a memoir…
